Amazing! Love the food, the beer, the atmosphere, and the service! Great prices on the food! The burgers are AMAZING!!! Definitely a busy hoppin place around dinner time into the evening!

You must order a Horny Monk and then take a case or 2 home. Realize of course that your waist line will expand but must say it is absolutely worth it. Miss you Horny Monk down here in FL. See you when the ground thaws in July!

Just an okay experience. Food was mediocre to not good. I had the chili, which after eating, I wanted to go home and make my own which I know is much better. My wife had the nachos which were not great. Chips were very soggy/limp. We shared the pretzels, which was the best food on the table, but they were very very salty. The dips with the pretzels were good. The beer was better than the food. We enjoyed a bunch of tastings. Morning Fog Mocha Java Stout was the winner. My wife liked the Cherry Cordial Blonde. The Ginger Beer was disappointing. The Hard Root-Beer and Sparkle were good, but nothing to write home about. Would not actively seek any of this beer out, but nice to try.

We were just up in Petoskey this weekend for a late Fall Foliage/Winery Tour. We stopped into Petoskey Brewing for a beer and a meal on Saturday and then again last night(Monday)…Horny Monk was delicious but we were not told about the Imperial Porter :/. My husband got the Chipotle Chicken Panini both times(he loved it) and I got the Grilled Cheese the first night and the Mozzarella/Tomato last night. I do think that they sandwiches/panini’s would be better with a light brush on butter on the bread. All in all, we had great service and enjoyed the beer… the flies/gnats are a definite issue that needs to be addressed though… it is no fun eating/drinking and trying to catch gnats in your hand or to shoo them away from your food.

So many beers, so little time. An excellent brew house with a good food selection. This was a brewery way back in the day when the 100+ year old building was built. Highly recommended!

Having bought some of their Horny Monk dubbel in cans and liked it, we were looking forward to visiting and trying some more of their brews. We were glad to find more tasty beverages there. We ordered some sandwiches with them, though these were a disappointment. We started with a sampler flight: maple brown, saison, imperial porter, and IPA. All were good, though we both went with the saison for the follow-up pint. Not as sour as most saisons, and it had some spiciness on the finish(think nutmeg, allspice). A unique rendering of the style. The maple brown deserves special notice too – only slightly sweet, with maple flavor distinct but not strong enough to overpower the rich brown ale base. As for those sandwiches… my wife got the turkey reuben, which fell flat from a) turkey that had an odd tuna-fishy aftertaste and b) extremely bland coleslaw. She asked the server for some extra thousand island dressing, though the server never returned until we got the check. I ordered the chicken chipotle panini, which wasn’t bad, but just didn’t taste like much in particular. It felt like I was biting into a hunk of something vaguely meaty, cheesy and spicy, the whole of which amounted to less than the sum of those parts. Even bacon on top(which can cover a multitude of culinary sins) couldn’t redeem it. So, I can’t recommend Petoskey’s food offerings. But the beers here are solid, and I wouldn’t rule out a return visit.

This is what craft brewing should be! The beers are creative, delicious, and take some risks. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff was incredible. The food is also really good(mmmm… pretzel sticks… *drools*) and the outdoor deck is a great place to relax, chat with friends, or use their wifi to get some work done. The deck is also dog friendly :)

Normally, marginal service is the kiss of death for me on rating an establishment, but I’ve deducted one star only, because the day manager(or owner) was hustling as much as he could, it’s just that one bar back was being a real slacker. In her defense, it was very busy, but doesn’t excuse paying more attention to her friend while making people wait to pay, or getting me a beer! I arrived by bicycle on the Little Traverse Wheelway bike path. The bike path dips into the woods as you leave Petosky, but reemerges just before the brewery: convenient! I found parking at the rack right next to the door. I sat at the bar, and was ignored until the manager came over from seating people to recommend the Gunter Imperial Pilsner. Wow, an Imperial Pils of this quality is a rare find. Smooth even at a 8ABV, with a light spice and a clean finish, this is an extremely well crafted beer! I also ordered the Turkey Club Toasted sandwich, and the Bar Back actually acknowledged my presence to bring it over. Eventually, I was able to order a New Moon Summer Belgian Pale also. A lightly citrus beer with nice mellow tones, it was very refreshing. Petoskey Brewing Co. is popular to it’s own determent, and I shouldn’t mock the bar back without knowing if it’s because there wasn’t enough staff, but don’t let any of that stop you from visiting! It will be worth the wait! If the service had been even a little better, this would be a 5 star review. I still give Petoskey Brewing my highest recommendation!

Good food and atmosphere but HORRIBLE service! I’m usually very understanding when it comes to the food industry but this was inexcusable. There were 3 of us and we sat at the bar. It took 5 minutes just for someone to acknowledge we were even there, and the bar isn’t that big. Staff wasn’t very friendly and seemed like they were on something. I would have understood had they been apologetic or seemed to acknowledge our lack of service but they didn’t seem to even notice. I hope anyone who visits this place has a better experience than we did.

I really wanted to like this place. They have an amazing building, location, story and design. The patio out back is amazing as well. That’s where the good ends though unfortunately. In the two visits my family and I made over the course of a week, the food was average at best, and took a while to be brought to the table. Each beer I had tasted slightly like the sanitizer the glass was washed in(meaning it wasn’t washed or rinsed properly). It would be different if this were one or two glasses, but two sampler racks(four glasses each), and four pint glasses as well as four water glasses were victim to the same problem. When the food is barely average, and the beer tastes both unoriginal and like sanitizer, you leave disappointed. Again, I really wanted to like this place but sadly I just couldn’t.

This is such a fun place! I’ve tried almost the whole menu in beer flights. They have SO many great beers. You have to try the root beer and the raspberry freeze especially. The scene is cool. You should go with a group of friends, get a bunch of beer flights and being cards. They even have a back patio. They have couches too in the back room for big groups. Great service!

Nice location, decent beer, good service, good food. We stopped by on the way through upper Michigan. Tried a variety of samplers, which was nice. They sell a variety of cans & growlers. Some outdoor seating is available, which is a bonus for summer.

Okay we haven’t been back since they’ve expanded their kitchen but we plan on it! Service is always great, and the beer is incredible. Love the atmosphere and its location(only a 5 min drive to fill up a growler) Their old menu was standard bar food that wasn’t terrible, we mainly go just for the beer anyways. Last growler I filled was their«Dark Knight» I think it was a black IPA? It was very tasty. Of course Horny Monk is always a go to if none of their specialty beers sound good.

Cute place in an old warehouse-backyard is a pond/river or some sort. I got the chili-and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely get it again. My boyfriend had the all beef hotdog-and he said it was really good too. We tried 4 beers-Brian Freeze, Michigan Cherry Wheat, Petoskey Grapfruit Shandy and Horny Munk. My boyfriend and I both really enjoyed the Cherry Wheat(even contemplating brining home a growler!) Service was good. Took a little bit to get our bill-about 10 minutes, but our server was very friendly. Pints were priced well, averaging $ 5.50-$ 6. And both my chili and his hot dog were $ 5.

I’ve only been through the town of Petoskey once. But I’ve been through the brewery twice. There was something about this place that drew me back. It might have been the off the beaten path nature, the homemade pretzel sticks, or most likely, the beer. Yeah, it was the beer. As an Oregonian living in Michigan last year, I felt lucky to live in a state where people took their beers seriously. Beer lovers would be wise to keep their eyes on Michigan. It’s creeping up the ranks and might just knock Oregon off the throne some day. Credit places like Petoskey Brewing for that. Any place that invests time in their chalkboard deserves credit. Petoskey Brewing, however, also deserves mention for their use of high quality water. That is not something I would normally notice, but since they make a point to draw attention to it, bravo. I only tried three of their beers. All of them were tasty. But here I base my rating on overall operation. Some of the other customers, and the bartender, gave me a friendly ribbing, since my pickup was decked out in Oregon Ducks magnets and stickers. But that is precisely the kind of camaraderie that makes a watering hole attractive. Plus, they have great house-made pretzel sticks. And, the post-industrial feel of the brewery was memorable. Gotta love a place that repurposes an old building, albeit it one that originated as a brewery. Although low-key, probably due to location, Petoskey is one of my favorite Michigan breweries nonetheless.

We stopped in on the way through Petoskey on our way to Mackinac City. There was a beer on tap called Horny Monk so of course I had to try that. It was easy to drink as a 6.9% belgian dubbel gets but was also smooth and slightly sweet, as their menu suggests. My wife had a brain freeze waffle cone raspberry cream ale which was very odd, yet utterly fantastic in some strange way. This little oddity had waffles cones added to the mash and a raspberry taste, of course. We didn’t have anything to eat here but others were eating and I thought everything looked really good. The building is true to form for a craft beer place and I think they are doing well, based on the staff working there.

Talk about a cool place. The place is very old and has a ton of character. This may be a little bias since it was my birthday when I stopped in on a Saturday around lunch and was treated very well. The old time building is right in front of a beautiful pond and the bike trial that you can look over if you sit in the back beer garden, which we decided to do. This was a bit of a detour when we were driving from the UP down to Traverse City yet had to do it after having a Brain Freeze for the first time and fell in love with it. We sat outside and ordered a flight each between the two of us. You pay by the sample and the price varies. The waitress brought out a «top secret» beer for my birthday in addition to the flight, which she proceeded to keep on refilling as I finished it. All of the beer we tried was really good and liked all of them. We ended up getting a growler to go. After having a flight, we got their pretzel sticks to start. They come with 3 sauces that all really compliment the pretzel well. I got the Chipotle Chicken Panini that was really good. The staff and the patrons were all super nice — once again, could be due to the circumstances. Overall, I would recommend stopping in here for some awesome beer.
