Pretty good little playground for kids. And a restroom right off the blvd which is convenient when traveling. The cons– lots of homeless people bugging you for change. And lots of loud traffic all day long. Keep your kids close!

Love coming here with the kiddo. She loves climbing all over the place, the park is in good condition, lots of families here on summer days, and easy to get to shops and food from here!

Great little park for an almost 3 year old. The structure is sound, and she likes the«climbing wall» part. There are only two swings, and they are the baby-seat bucket swings. The proximity to downtown Petaluma is great as you can park once, and then let the little ones play, and then walk to a restaurant if you’d like to. Could even walk across the street to Powell’s candy store for a treat!

Walnut Park is the site of the Petaluma Progressive Festival. It’s across the street from the post office, the bustling theater district, and a 7 – 11. The park has one drinking fountain, and it was overflowing. There was an amazing array of booths– the North Bay Vegans, with their Gardein&Field Roast samples, the Sonoma Peace&Justice Center, various iterations of Occupy, the Occidental Arts&Ecology Center. Hair dye. A giant rooster. Crystals. Various petitions. Tamales(meat, vegetarian, vegan) The San Francisco Mime Troupe putting on a show, and such that actors were changing their clothes within sight of the passing traffic on D Street. Walnut Park is a pleasant little park. It might even be glimpsed in «Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders» starring the late Ernest Borgnine. There’s a nice little playground for the kids. It’s kept clean, and somehow accomodates the hustle and bustle of the Progressive Festival.
