I went there with my family. We had great service and food, too. We will go back again.

I ate here a few years ago and it didn’t do much for me so I moved on. But recently I decided to give it another shot, and I am sure happy i did. I ordered on the phone, and let me tell you, it’s not that easy. The guy who answers isn’t so great at english. It took a few times, but he got it in the end. Picked up the food, he’s super nice. The inside of the place looks like a dumpy Chinese place, who cares, that’s what they look like, if you want nice expensive food head to PF Changs for their crap. For me it’s all about the food, and the food here was GREAT. Fresh. Yummy. Lot’s of variety. We got 5 different items and they were all great. If you’re more interested in a nice building, go elsewhere, if you want good food, for a great price I might add, then check this place out.

Owner played some sort of tv drama in a foreign language right next to me on her iPhone in an empty restaurant on very high volume. It was so awkward that I started to play loud snapchats to make a point which was not gotten. No need to comment on the food, it’s cheap fast Crap, and serves a purpose from time to time.

I too, looked at the bad reviews, but the place I wanted was closed so I looked deeper. I noticed that the bad reviews were all from 10months and further in the past. There were a couple recents with good things to say so off we went. Good, fresh ingredients, no discernible msg, nice seasoning and 6 dishes in 12minutes . Who knows about next time but this(our first visit) was a success. Thumbs up.

Edit: I came back to Petaluma and ordered food from Kwei Bin to share with my mom, and unfortunately I have to report that I did find a piece of beef in the food. Or maybe it was pork. Or chicken. I can’t remember the difference between them, and when it’s covered in sauce and mixed with vegetables it’s very hard to decipher. I feel similar to the way I felt when I realized that nothing at Panda Express is vegetarian, after I ate their eggplant tofu once in a while after going vegan. The ironic thing is, during that time I never found any meat in the eggplant tofu from Panda Express. Had I, I would have angrily written to their CEO. It seems like someone has already, since when you google«Panda Express ingredients» the first result is «…food is prepared and cooked in the same area where meat is prepared». Obviously this is the case with non-chain Chinese restaurants. I might have to delete my Unilocal account, because now my trust in restaurants is nil. The food at Kwei Bin is still a lot better than that at other Chinese restaurants in Petaluma, and that’s why I removed only 1 star from my former review. To other vegetarians I would suggest asking for the cook to make an extra effort to segregate meat from the vegetables. I don’t know. I would’ve removed more stars but I still stand by what I said about Kwei Bin as the best choice in Petaluma.

Long long ago, this place was in my top 5 if not top 3 Chinese restaurants. I have to say, I came and for take out for dinner tonight and was not disappointed. The string bean chicken and Mongolian beef is incredible. But best of all is the pot stickers … Hand made and heaven sent. The chow mein is exactly how I remember it. I’m thrilled. Its like going back 20 years in time for food just the way I remember. Can’t say that everyday.

Despite the poor reviews we decided to try this place since it is very close to our house. We were delightfully surprised, the food was good, the staff was really nice and they even gave us some free won tons with our order. The portions were plentiful for the price. We got take out this time and will definite go back.

The food here smells terrible and taste terrible. I was greatly disappointed. I kid you not… I walked in and in less than 5 minutes i walked out. The meet tasted like it sits next to seafood and it taste like it as well. The rice was hard and the chow mein tasted rancid, maybe the cooking oil is bad??? Then the pork buns looked and tasted like they were store bought and had gone bad.

It’s too bad Kwei Bin has had so many bad reviews because the food is good and the managements friendly. I agree that the restaurant is dated and could use an over-haul which is why we get food to go. The portions are large and vegetarian dishes are fresh and not over-cooked. Kwei Bin is worth a try and chance to rate this restaurant for yourself.

Tick— tick — tick. This restaurant is not long for this world. Food — mediocre is being kind. I sure hope some good Chinese restaurants soon open up in Petaluma.

Hands down the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Ordered the General Chou — which was bland and mushy. The Hot and Sour had no flavor. The Pork Friend Rice wasn’t too bad. Was tolerable at that I asked for a small Hot and Sour — they gave me a large I asked for a small order of Pork Fried Rice — they gave me a large The restaurant was empty — and they never cleaned up the lunch buffet. Should have been sign for me to walk out. I just was really itching for Chinese. Do yourself a favor. If you pass this in your travels, pick another location. Might as well have taken the 20 bucks I spent on this crap and burned it.

Originally Kwei Bin was opened and run by a local family. At some point they decided to sell the business, but the new owners ran the restaurant into the ground with bad service and bad food. The original owners bought it back and essentially brought the restaurant back to life. The food and service have returned to their former greatness. The restaurant eating area was downsized, getting rid of the large side party room(I never saw it being used), which I’m sure saves them a bunch of money. The restaurant has its nice family atmosphere back, and the owners are so nice and courteous! Everything we have ordered was fabulous each time we visited. I highly recommend this place! They are the best Chinese restaurant in Petaluma.

It was an experience… if you’re looking for Chinese food, I’d recommend Panda Express if there’s one in the area. For a buffet place, all I had was one plate of food and I came here starving. That pretty much sums up this place don’t you agree?

I can’t figure out why there are so many bad reviews here??? I’ve been here numerous times for take out, and twice for the buffet. I’ve been very satisfied with the quailty of food every single time. They also have a Korean menu with Jam pon and Ja ja mung. The Ja ja mung is really good. Their lunch buffet is around $ 6.00, super worth it. It is always pretty empty in this place, maybe in part from people’s bad reviews, which is too bad. Personally, I really like the food. The service is great and the staff is really friendly. I recommend giving them a try.

I just read(gasp!) an actual Unilocal five star review saying«this is the best Chinese restaurant ever», and then the reviewer said«small town hicks don’t know what they are talking about» for giving such bad reviews. I count myself a lucky«small town hick» living here. Ironically the reviewer giving this most elevated review is from«Santa Barbara» and has only one Unilocal to their credit ever. One credit! Methinks that must be strange, to have a person from down in Santa Barbara give only one review, and one that is glowing and so much different from the locals(us hicks). Us small town hicks keep restaurants in business here in the first place, no?. Could it be that this reviewer is a put up job from the owner? The owner should concentrate on producing quality food and reacting to the many, many bad reviews and taking action to fix things instead of giving fake reviews. You would think that losing«10 large» monthly would get their attention. I still predict that this restaurant is not long for the world.

I came here for the lunch buffet because we had just done a tour of our new house, and it was literally blocks away and we were hungry. There were a ton of things to choose from, which was enticing, but nothing was good. I tried a large sampling of items because, upon bringing my first plate to my table, I didn’t really like anything. So, I went for a second plate, hopeful I’d find something I liked. Nope. Even the fried won tons were soggy and unappetizing. We were the only people in there when we got there, which should have tipped us off. I even spit out the fortune cookie I took as I walked out because it was stale and disgusting. I’ll never go back here, even if it is a few blocks from my house.

What a flavorless and miserable attempt at Chinese cuisine! My wife and I ordered take-out, which consisted of: * hot and sour soup — which was basically bland beef stock with cornstarch and was neither spicy hot nor sour; * lemon chicken — which I’m convinced was a commercially prepped, frozen, breaded chicken breast pounded to 1⁄16th of an inch and deep fried, served with a «lemon sauce»(which was, no exaggeration, like warm watery lemon Kool-Aid) * walnut prawns — overly sweet, «cornstarchy» white sauce with overcooked shrimp – and actually was the only thing even slightly OK. All this horrible food cost us nearly $ 30.

Ate the Lunch buffet deal for $ 6.99. There were 35 items to choose. Lots of fried, batter coated mysteries. Many of the wok cooked brown items looked identical. Egg drop soup was watery & full of corn starch. Food quality is just 2 stars. It’s oily. Cashier guy was friendly. Dining room is medium ugly space. 100 seat restaurant that can accommodate groups, because it always seems deserted. Not a popular place.
