Food was delicious. Prices were fair. Very quiet and polite staff. We usually get take-out, but we will be back. Nice to know delicious food is so close to home. Portions were nice size. Three entrees feed a family of four with leftovers.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The egg rolls, fried won tons, and hot and sour soup are delicious, the service is great, but everything else seems lacking. I’d probably pass on dining in again, but I’d definitely order those items I mentioned to-go.

Don’t do it! It’s a trap!!! Hubby, kiddo and I came in for a quick bite. We decided to give it a try because a few people gave a 5 star rating. All those people must have had their taste buds seared off before eating here because this place was horrid. The selection is dismal. The soup has gone untouched so long there’s a crusty film on the top. It seems as though the food has been sitting out all day. The safest thing to eat here are the fresh fruit and veggies although even that is questionable as the server was sitting behind the counter CLIPPINGHISNAILS! Eeewww

This is a small family run restaurant the service is prompt and very attentive. The food is great for what you pay.

I LOVE sweet and sour pork and this is some of the best I have eaten. Everyone was smiling and welcoming when we walked in. Nice music and not very loud. Nice place to meet for lunch. Has a good price for a buffet.

You definitely get what you pay for here. It’s cheap but it’s okay food and a buffet.

Never again! I showed up at 3:05PM on a Monday. The food options were slim. Several of the pans were empty and the ones with food looked like it has been out since the beginning of lunch. My mom isn’t picky so we stayed. I ordered an ice tea and asked for a cup of hot water to go with it. I usually desolve sugar in hot water to mix with my tea because I don’t use sugar substitute. The waitress said they don’t have hot water. Imagine that! No hot water in a restaurant. The sweet and sour pork and chicken were both very dry. The macaroni and cheese is the first thing on the buffet table and it looks as if it’s been sitting out since breakfast time. Around 3:30, a family of 3 came in and I assume they’re regulars because the lady who works here started bringing out new food. Our waitress was sweet and she gave us the lunch price($ 7.50) even though we came in a few minutes after. That was sweet of her, but I still wouldn’t come back.

I’ve never eaten inside this place so I can’t be a good judge for that. However their takeout menu is great. I’d definitely choose this place over any other cheap Chinese takeout in the Friendswood area. My recommendations are the lemon chicken, Szechuan beef, and general tso’s chicken. Pretty good food.

So I was craving Chinese and found some reviews and thought I would try it… It was close to home… So typical Buffett style set up… But the selection was smaller than most… Nothing stood out. Very basic Buffett spread. The cold shrimp was a little over cooked, ribs went too bad, cheese puffs were cold, the steamed stuffed dumplings were fresh but not great… The egg rolls were good, the general tso’s chicken lacked that robust flavor. Wasn’t bad but not a place I would seek out or recommend if someone was looking for Chinese. I got the carrot cake square and yeah… One bite and nope it was not moist, defiantly frozen and crunchy… No carrot cake flavor ATALL.

Buffet is adequate but even at 11 am when they just opened, food felt like it was mostly reheated(except for fried items– fried shrimp were excellent). Do not order pan fried dumplings off main menu. Good sauce and seasoning but completely burnt to a crisp.

I’m reviewing their takeout menu. We have been getting takeout from Ruby’s for more than five years. It is by far my favorite Chinese takeout restaurant! I’ve eaten in the actual restaurant once and it is a normal Chinese buffet experience. I greatly prefer paying extra for their carry out menu. Everything is made when you order it, and it’s always hot when I get home. They never take longer than 20 minutes to prepare. Just call ahead and it will be ready when you get there. I LOVE their lemon chicken, general tso’s and Ruby fried rice. The staff is always very friendly! A must try when looking for good quality take home Chinese food!

Chinese buffets are so cookie cutter-ish that it’s hard to review them. Ruby Chinese restaurant offers pretty much the same items offered at other buffets. Something that stood out was something called«Ruby Shrimp». The staff is attentive and friendly, and the value-for-money is ok. There’s no reason not to go when you’re in the mood.

We went at 6 on a Sat and there were only about six other people. Most of the steam trays still looked fresh and a lady would ask you if there was a particular dish that you were wanting when you paused at the table. The food was pretty standard, the meat dishes looked okay, the General Tso was good. HOWEVER… my boyfriend took one bite of the Vietnamese springroll and pronounced that it smelled like dog butt, which ITDID. Trust me, we have four dogs and I have no idea how an otherwise innocuous looking food item could replicate THAT smell. CHECKPLEASE! Just avoid the springroll. It did satisfy my craving for typical Chinese at $ 8, the staff was friendly and it’s a step above Healthy Chinese Buffet over in West Pearland yet not as good as Armani Buffet down the road.

My husband, daughter and I decided to stop in here for lunch this past Saturday. It was an alternative to fast food(Wok-D-lite, of which I am not a fan), and it is extremely close to our home and Kroger, which is convenient for the«never shop hungry rule.» The place was relatively small, but appeared to be clean, and only one other table was in the place at about 1:00 pm. The selection was pretty small, but again, like other reviewers said, all of the classics were there, lo mien, fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, pork and shrimp, pot stickers, crab rangoon, 3 soups, and a small selection of desserts etc. The waiter there at the time was very friendly, letting us know while at the buffet tables where certain foods came from and which ones were his favorites. Overall, the food was delicious, it tasted fresh, and completely satisfied my want for Chinese food. I will definitely go back when the opportunity arises. Also, the staff was very kind to my daughter(who is 2). Usually Restaurant staff are not so thrilled to see a toddler. This was a real + in my book.

um… so i didnt eat their buffet but i did order their kung pao chicken for lunch and it was probably one of the most horrible chinese i’ve ever ate. the chicken had this pasty taste to it like they marinated it in too much corn starch and the pieces were so huge you could barely get one piece in your mouth. definitely not what i had been expecting. as for the buffet, havent had it but looked like the typical pickings of sweet and sour chicken, fried foods and other artery clogging Americanized Asian creations.

Not bad for a predictable, inexpensive Chinese buffet. This place has been there for years. It will never knock your socks off, but it isn’t bad either.

Good Chinese buffet at a very reasonable price. I think it’s still about $ 5 for lunch and under $ 8 for dinner including a drink. It’s not a large place but it has enough variety to keep the average diner happy. Quiet atmosphere and pretty cozy.
