Absolutely ridiculous… Have been to this restaurant several times in the last few weeks because the food was delicious. Every time, our service has been terrible! Yet we continue to come here because of the food! However, today was the LAST straw. Today is my birthday and I made a reservation for 12 people in advance. I arrived 30 minutes early to make sure everything was a go. On my way there, I stopped to pick up my favorite Mexican fruit drink to have while I waited. When I got there, they asked to take my drink order and I told them I would order when the rest of my party arrived. My husband arrived and ordered his drink, they asked me again and I told them I still wasn’t ready. Then she came back to tell me that outside drinks are not permitted and she needs to dispose of it. I told her I would like to finish my drink and i would order when the rest of my party arrived. The owner, Mrs. Humphrey, came to the table to repeat what the waitress said. I told her I was sorry I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and that I will just take my party of 12 elsewhere. She then smiled and sarcastically told me, «thank you, happy birthday!» Sorry so long but I thought this was important to share as by looking at the place, it has a very homey, family-like feel and to be treated this way over a little drink was unacceptable! Now I understand where her staff gets it from. I will never go there again!

A casual italian place I’ve been coming to since I was a little kid who loved pizza. The former owner who started this joint was a professional wrestler and you will see many of his photos still hung along the walls. Food is usually pretty good, nothing to really blow your mind over, but consistently good. It is a very casual setting with reasonable prices. Where can you get a 1lb burger up in Houston for around $ 7? You can’t! Service is attentive, as it should be for a restaurant in business this long. I typically order a burger or a roast beef sub. If I come during lunch, I like to take advantage of the lunch special. They advertise and sell their private label sodas including root beer which I tried on my recent visit. They utilize Teero’s, a bottling company in Sugar Land, which bottles private label sodas for many local businesses, including Leibman’s on Memorial, Otto’s BBQ, Blake’s BBQ, and Tin Roof BBQ in Humble to name a few. I’d have to say that the root beer was not bad for a restaurant.

Had a disappointing experience this week… tried the sausage sandwich and a salad… with few customers the wait was way too long, and the sandwich didn’t taste that great… I think it was the butter on the toasted roll. For what I got I also think the price was high.

$ 52.00 for two large pizzas am I nuts for paying that price? Hell Yes. I could have a great pizza flown from NY for that price. The pizza wasn’t as good as Little Caesars. Where do they get the nerve to charge that much for a mediocre pizza. I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague.

Ugh we were hoping for a good experience! We drove 30 minutes to bring the kids. The making of your own kid pizza is a great concept. Very affordable to do that. The kids didn’t like it when it came out cooked. Husband and I ordered spaghetti and it was awful. Lacked taste and didn’t even have spaghetti noodles. The salads had rotted tomatoes we had to remove. The staff were not friendly or welcoming. And this was place very dirty. I’m still confused about the bathroom. It had shutters for the bathroom door that didn’t have locks… I included a picture.

Great food and great service. I have been here 3 times and each time it has been great even on the weekends.

We just moved to the area and are trying out the local restaurants. Deep-dish pizza is good and can be picked up to-go, although the seasoning is quite mild. The charbroiled burger is very good, as are the sweet potato fries. With all the new homes being built in the area, Big Humphrey’s should consider updating their décor and menu to something you would see in other Italian restaurants from this millennium. It was like stepping back into the 70’s at one of our grandparents’ restaurant choices. And the background music could be more consistently appealing too. We want to patronize locally-owned restaurants, so we hope Big Humphrey’s will take the plunge and update. There aren’t a lot of restaurant choices on this side of Pearland, so an enjoyable, family-friendly Italian restaurant should be a great draw.

We came here last night for my mom’s birthday. They sat us in a cramped back room where they didn’t even have the ac on at 7:30 on a Friday night. We had to ask them to turn it on. We waited for about 10 minutes for our waitress to come get our drink orders after water and I had to go get her. 15 minutes later we still hadn’t seen our drinks or waitress. I asked the hostess to speak to a manager and there wasn’t even one there! Our waitress finally came back worth salads for our food orders but still, drinks were no where to be seen. We didn’t even touch our food and quickly got up and left. The waitress was even rude to us on the way out. Will NEVER go back or even recommend.

Casual, small town feeling — Nothing fancy, here. We ate a late lunch on a week day. I loved their sweet potato fries. Share a basket of them — the serving is generous for two. On a friends advice, I order the charbroiled burger for beef cooked to order. I really enjoyed it. Humphrey’s root beer is excellent. Price wasn’t bad. Food was good. Lunch companions enjoyed bread sticks lightly topped with marinara and plenty of cheese.

My parents and I have been to this restaurant many times over the years, but just recently the staff and the time it takes to receive your food have been less than subpar. –story time– so my parents, and my husband go into Big Humphreys and are seated right away(no complaints here) however we had to wait 15 minutes in order to get our drink order in, and another 10 minutes to get our drinks, we order bread with cheese and sauce and we(at the same time) order our dinner but let the waitress know that we want the bread served before we receive our main course. After waiting 45 minutes we start to get antsy(as I am pregnant I was heated lol I was sooo hungry!!!) and by that time we still didn’t receive our bread until we asked about it! And even then when they brought out the bread they gave us the wrong type(without the cheese and without sauce, just garlic bread… nothing else) so at this time our drinks are watered down with no sight of refilling in the future(I honestly was sooooo ready to leave and get a sonic hot dog) we keep looking back wondering where our food is, a lady(With black curly hair) comes by to fill our drinks and we ask where our food is, that we haven’t gotten anything but bread in 45 – 50 minutes and she glares at us And quickly remarks that she is not our server -.- I was livid. What does it matter if you are not our server? Whoever you are you should at least care that one of your tables that you(I guess only fill drinks at?) is quite upset and came here to have a nice family meal but after an hour we haven’t gotten anything… oh but hey we have BREAD(get organized. Tell our server then, or bad reviews happen, good job) -.- finally our food comes out, we were so upset we barely talked the rest of the night, just ate,(and then had to get up and get our own to go boxes) paid, and finally left. Went in at 7 left at 9, will not return any time soon unless the staff go through a much better learning process about how to take care of your customers, to where we leave happy and full, not full with disappointment and regret.

They have a bigger staff… perhaps they didn’t on the negative reviews. In any case, this is the fourth time I’ve been here. Each time, the service has always been good. I had the small regular pizza. See my pics. Very tasty and fresh. I’m not a thick crust person, but this one was baked perfectly. Enough crisp with soft center. Just yumminess. Mom had the grilled chicken sandwich. Fresh ingredients. Our drinks were always refilled. Don’t know what people were talking about. This visit was a Saturday night Memorial Day weekend. Go.

I loved the pizza! Even when the crust was kind of thick it was so light and soft with some crispy edge. Really load of everything and great taste! Good service and family ambience.

Went here only because it has been around a long time. Inside looks completely outdated. Food tastes like it’s all store bought and frozen. Only good thing is the ability for kids to make their own pizza but they probably won’t eat it(mine wouldn’t).

It is fun for the kids to make their own pizza yes! but if you want them to eat raw pizza that tastes like sour dough then this is the place for you! yikes I was scared my kid would get sick! it so happened she asked me to taste hers when she was half way done! I felt betrayed I don’t expect I have to taste my kids food to check its ok! I asked them to cook those few slices some more they did but came back still tasting sour and the dough was still a little raw. That’s when I asked for the manager to just taste it but she wouldn’t its against policy! they weren’t apologetic just defensive they should admit when they are wrong! who cares if you have been doing this for 60 years you didn’t get it right! I felt cheated! I was reassured nothing happens if you eat raw yeasty tasting pizza thank god! but that its impossible anything is wrong with it cause the others were fine unbelievable really!

I don’t understand how this place is still in business. I’m not sure what’s worse, the service or the food. I think they are way over priced for they’re food, which is mediocre at best. Service is lacking. Never comes to refill drinks, forgets dressing for salad(which is an entrée), and takes almost an hour to get out food. This has happened the past two times we’ve been here. So sad.

4.5 stars for the food. Really good. Kinda pricy. Service??? What service. 1 hour and 45 minutes and we are still waiting on the check. The waitress actually came out with our refills. Went to different table and headed to the back with everything still on her tray… I followed.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with this place. When my coworker and I walked in, I immediately wandered if we’d made a mistake as the looks of the place leaves something to be desired. Don’t get me wrong, it’s quaint décor, with the plastic red checkered table mats and the wine bottles with loads of melted candle wax(that actually looked really cool). But the place was full of kids and the menu was kind of straight forward with not many options. It is also important to note that this place has a small beer selection and no wine. My coworker and I settled on sharing one of the Sicilian style pizzas and each getting a house salad. The salad came promptly and was good as it was covered in house ITALIAN dressing. Like many places, the dressing comes on the salad and not on the side and there was just a little too much. I still ate it all, though. The pizza took a little while to cook, but it was freshly made, so no complaint there. Now, onto the best part, which was the pizza. All I can say is that it was amazing. Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We ordered the veggie pizza and it was FULL of flavor and yummy goodness. It comes cut into squares, and even though we shared a small, we had 3 pieces to spare when we were done. Long story short, I definitely recommend this place. And honestly, the only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars was the lack of alcohol choices, ie wine.

My husband and I FINALLY came in for dinner and then began to kick ourselves for not coming in sooner! We had the fried mozzarella to start — lightly breaded and fried and served with both ranch and red sauce. They were very good. We both had side salads — just your typical iceberg side salad, but the dressings were great. My husband had the 1000 island and I had the ranch — both home made. I ordered a small cheese pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms — holy smokes — it was great! Nice, thick crust and lots of toppings. My husband had the vermicelli with MaMa’s meatballs — they were huge!!! He said the pasta and meatballs was really good as well. To top it all off, we had Big Humphrey’s root beer and lemonade. Shut — the — front — door — that stuff was amazing!!! Even better, our server was very attentive and helpful. It sucks that it took us so long to stop in — I think we just found a new favorite!!!

We got the garlic chicken Alfredo pizza and it was delicious! The service is what you would expect from a high schooler, but was not bad. The restaurant could use a good cleaning but was not so dirty to make me feel dirty.
