What happened to this place? Terrible service and mediocre food. What a shame! I used to look forward to eating here. Not anymore. I agree with all of the people who are giving this place 4 and 5 stars. This place used to be great! The servers were prompt and courteous while taking your orders. They would remember us as we often wold come and eat here at least twice a week. The Ramen noodles were not overcooked and soggy. The vegetables in the Ramen soup were much fresher then tonight’s meal. And most of all, the servers kept on coming back to us to see if we wanted or needed more water to drink nearly every 5 minutes or less. They were more of an annoyance, instead of an asset to the restaurants service. Yes, I will not come back to this place again! What a waste of $ 28!

Back in December of 2015 the same night that I visited the Honolulu City Lights with a female friend of mines we had decided to get some ramen at Daiichi Ramen in Pearl City. This ramen shop was close to the Sam’s Club fueling station where my friend filled up her vehicle with gas. Stepping foot into the food establishment I noticed a bunched of tables that can seat four individuals. My friend and I sat in one of the few two seater tables. We were greeted by one of the female employees and she gave us the menus to look over. After looking over the menu I quickly decided to order the won ton ramen. I also ordered a soda. To my disappointment the ramen shop only sells the can sodas and they do not have the fountain machine. After waiting a few minutes I received the won ton ramen and noticed that the won ton shape is like a gau gee. The ramen soup was very delicious. I need to remember the next time I visit my mother in Pearl City that I should bring her here for happy hour time. I’d go for free gyoza any day. 22⁄200

Daiichi is a family favorite when it comes to all our curry and ramen needs. And my personal is the combination of the two: chicken katsu curry udon! The prices here are very reasonable with each of the menu items all under $ 10. A few of my other favorites here include the miso ramen, chicken katsu curry rice, and tonkotsu ramen. The staff here is very friendly and efficient. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes today even though the restaurant was full of people eating and also customers picking up their phone orders. If you’re looking for some good curry or ramen, Daiichi is a great place to check out for a great bang for your buck.

It’s a rainy day, so I’m eating a Won Ton Ramen($ 8.50) today! Love the broth(tasty & not salty… just right!) with large pieces of won ton. It’s one of the best Won Ton Ramen I ever had! We arrived there during Happy Hour, so we both received 4pcs large pan fried Gyoza for free with our order. Service was excellent! Waitresses seated us immediately as we entered the restaurant. They were very friendly & frequently refills ice water on our table. Even though the restaurant was busy with a lot customers today, our food arrived at our table very quick! After paying our order at the register, we both got to choose a free Dum-Dum lollipop from the bowl on the counter! GOOD food &GREAT service, so I highly recommend this restaurant for an affordable tasty meal!!!

This was our first visit here since we always go to the other ramen and curry place across the street. Its a pretty small place, with tables and even a few counter seats. The waitress greeted us upon entering but when we got there they were full at the time so she kindly asked that we wait outside and that she would let us know when a table would be available. All together we waited about 10mins. After seating our water cups were served immediately and we got our menus. Prices was very affordable and so my family ordered Mochiko chicken curry, small shoyu ramen, mapo tofu ramen and a chicken katsu curry. We were shocked when we received our order because the portions were REALLY big. My family was extremely satisfied with how the food tastes. They have happy hour times where you can get free gyozas with your order but we got there a little too early. Only downfall I would say is cuz theres starbucks and other places to eat in the same area sometimes finding parking might take a while. Unless you decide to park at the end stalls of the Walmart parking lot.

The service is consistent and it’s nice that they are aware and all that you’re there. Fast service. I do feel like the waitresses didn’t understand English completely, they kept giving me that look that they did not understand. Only a couple of them but overall the service was nice and food came out fast. The mabo tofu is spicy though! I didnt think it was going to be that spicy but geez.

Located in a row of fairly new restaurants a block above the pearl city Walmart, we decided to eat here since my son was craving for curry and potstickers at the same time: Teishoku curry and rice with Potsticker and miso soup — 4 stars — for around $ 8, this was a fairly large meal that my son could not finish and potstickers were fresh. mabo tofu ramen 3 stars — a huge serving, but the sauce didn’t have too much flavor. the service was fast and the waitresses and cashier were friendly.

Took my daughter out on a mommy daughter date. We were headed to Panda, but on a whim decided on Daiichi Ramen. And boy were we glad! It was delicious! The place is cute and clean. The customer service was fast and on target! The food was very flavorful and delicious! My daughter and I ordered the Miso ramen combo with gyoza, Miso ramen and pork fried rice. It was so much food!!! We could have shared. We can’t wait to come back and try more. Both our favorites were the pork fried rice and gyoza mmmmm. A table next to us ordered the shrimp Katsu and pork Katsu and it smelled great.

We often come here after our Sunday night church service. It’s always a few mins before they close but the food here is cheap, fast, and satisfying. The service is okay. It is fast as well. I normally get the keiki udon, gyoza, or mini Kim Chee fried rice. I’ve never really ordered a big plate only because this is usually our last stop before we head home and go to bed, and I prefer not to eat something extremely filling before bed. But anyway, my brother usually gets a mini katsu curry, and he says even that’s filling for him. The mini sized plates are decent sizes. I’ve also tried their tantan ramen which is good as well. Like I said, everything here is good and prices are reasonable! Restaurant is clean. The parking lot is a little small because it’s shared with other restaurants and businesses, but there’s also the Walmart parking lot available literally within walking distance.

Overall experience was ok. Customer service was great. However, when it comes to the delivery of food not so great. Service was fast and not a long wait period… but, it’s just the etiquette of how our meals were delivered. Most groups/parties that are together want to eat their food together. In this case granted my fiancé and I took a couple more minutes to order than the other two in our party. My other two guests were half way done with their meal prior to my fiancé and I even getting our food. It took about 15 mins before my friend got his coke he ordered. Would I eat here again maybe. Was it worth the money for the portion size yes. I think the noodles were a little too over cooked for my liking. But, not a bad place. Oh, it maybe best for them to invest in bigger tables or one long both against the was with tables. I watch the delivery guy’s hand truck(full) get caught to the table and chair next to where I was sitting. I ended moving the table and chair for their delivery guy.

When I read Traci R.‘s review, I told her, «I like go!» So, we went! It was a really fun experience! Eating good food in Pearl City with a new friend is a cool thing! FREE gyoza at Happy Hour(2:30pm — 5:00pm every day) makes it even better! When I ordered the Super Bowl with ramen noodles(udon also available) and the Shrimp Katsu salad, the waitress said it would be too much for me. I told her that I didn’t eat all day and that I could do it! She let me win, but she was right — my eyes were bigger than my stomach! That buggah was BEEG! Full of all kinds of toppings like corn, seaweed, etc. The green salad was fresh and had yummy dressing on it! The crisp shrimp was lightly battered! The FREE gyoza had great flavor — I ate all four pieces! Enjoyed the decorations — both Japanese and Chinese figurines! The convenient parking right in the front was stress-free! The interior was bright and clean! The service was excellent — my water glass was filled all the time and they packed up my leftover food for me! Next time, I would get the Wonton Udon because Traci gets that so often that the waitress knew what Traci was going to order! Haha! Must be good, right? It sure looked it! Let’s go!

Did someone say FREE?!(Double take) Wait what?! Okay, so I’ll totally admit that my Chinese side kicks into overdrive when I hear the word ‘free.’ I’m not gonna deny it. So ever since I found out Daiichi offers 4 free pieces of gyoza during their happy hours of 2:30pm to 5:00pm daily, I find myself craving this. Plus, it’s per ENTREE not per order! :) Sometimes when I order for my sister, I’ll steal her share: P Don’t tell her. LOCATION: Majority of the time, I’ll visit their ‘Aiea location down the street from ‘Aiea Bowl. However, I have come to this Pearl City location on several occasions since it’s conveniently located next to Petco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Longs. In my opinion, I cannot tell the difference between the two. Ample parking compared to the ‘Aiea location :) FOOD: For the last several years, I am happy to say that their portion sizes have remained the same. :) And let me tell you, it’s more than enough food to keep you feeling full and happy. On this particular visit, I had originally wanted the Combo with 2 choices($ 9.75): Mini Udon w/shoyu base, mini pork fried rice, and chicken katsu. Once I found out that I don’t get free gyoza with combos, I immediately changed my order to Chicken Katsu curry($ 8.50). There’s that Chinese kicking in! I was quite satisfied with the portion size and actually ended up taking ¾ of it to-go since I couldn’t finish it! We also had the combo with mini udon, shrimp katsu, and fish katsu. You get 3 scrawny pieces of shrimp katsu and a decent amount of fish katsu. Unless you really like shrimp, go for the chicken or fish katsu! Spam katsu is alright… nothing special but if you like spam, hey, there’s your dish! I typically order the wonton udon but it’s been so humid and hot lately that I would have to be OUTOFMYMIND if I ate a whole bowl of piping hot udon! Although I must say that the won ton udon is to die for! My absolute favorite! Must must must try if you like wontons! Topped with choy sum, kamaboko, and char siu. My sister’s favorite is the Mochiko Chicken curry. Although the taste is good, you get so little pieces of mochiko chicken that you always end up with more rice/curry. :(If you don’t mind paying extra, I’d order a side order of mochiko chicken to go with your plate. If you eat a lot, this definitely won’t fill you up! Try the chicken katsu instead! Their gyoza? Okay for some reason I love their gyoza. I don’t know if it’s just because it’s free? I would not pay $ 4.50 for 6 pieces but if it’s free, I’d gobble it up like crazy! That’s probably why I can’t justify paying $ 4.50 for gyoza. It’s usually gone in less than a few minutes. And then I get a little depressed on the inside because it’s all gone :(In fact, I’d rather eat the gyoza than the curry! Yum yum yum! SERVICE: Decent service. Food comes out relatively quickly. Depends on how busy the restaurant is of course. Regular water check ups, quick to deliver the check, etc. SHHHHH: Okay so now you wanna hear the secret to getting even more food at a discount? During the holidays, they typically offer a gift certificate deal: Buy $ 50 worth of gift certificates and get a free $ 10! Unfortunately I already used up my last certificated on my most recent visit. :(I guess I’ll have to wait for the next promo! I’ll be returning for sure. :) Hope you like this place too!(If you’ve been to Ramen Ya next door, it’s pretty similar) :D

Although my Unilocal status doesn’t show it, I’m a regular here… having been here at least 10+ times this year. My go-to ramen is always tantan, and man do they deliver! Their gyoza is delicious, and today the bf and I opted to try their deep fried gyoza too. Although I just had one, I must say that thing is a gem! Too bad it’s worse for you than the pan fried variant. Lol! The workers know me here well enough to notice when my order changes, hahaha. They’re very efficient, though not the friendliest. Could be the language barrier though. Regardless I will be back. Always. :)

I went here yesterday because I saw a picture of the food somewhere or someone raving about it so of course I had to check it out. When I went with my parents it wasn’t too crowded at around 630 on a Tuesday. We sat down immediately and looked over the menu for about 5 minutes. I ordered the tan tan ramen and my parents ordered the mabo tofu ramen and their combination meal. After we ordered within TENMINUTES all our food was on the table. They’re service is fast and efficient. The tan tan ramen was good nothing too special but it was a good size and had 3 pieces of charsiu, kamaboko, 2 pieces of nori, and lots of bamboo shoots! My moms mabo tofu ramen was huge and filled to the brim of the bowl with lots of tofu and a flavorful broth. The combination my dad ordered included a mini ramen, pork fried rice, and 4 gyoza for about $ 9.25. The good thing about their combination meals is that you can choose what other sides you want instead of having it all preset like other ramen places. When it was time to leave I had leftovers so I asked for a takeout container. Usually the server just gives you the container but Lily(our server) put my ramen in the container in front of us. I thought that this was a very nice gesture and she went above and beyond to serve her customers. Definitely will have to come back here for some delicious ramen and excellent service!(:

This place I have to say is one of the better places to eat for Asian comfort food. I say they are better than the other competitors like Ramen-ya and ichiben. They have a nice comfortable set up of chairs and tables. This place is really clean and the servers are nice and really attentive despite how busy they can get. The food is always good and consistent here. I always get the shots ramen with the chicken Katsu and shrimp fried combo. On any given day they are the same. The food is always at a good eating temperature here. The bathroom here is well kept like the Starbucks that’s four doors down from them. The wait over here isn’t that bad if you compare it to shokudo. They also do take out orders here. Nothing too much out of the ordinary or different besides their great consistencies and how they are one of the better cheaper places for comfort food. Pretty much like other places where you order your food and go. I personally like this place. If you’re a college student this place is a must.

Really good combo deals! You can pick a mini ramen or udon and get two sides for less than 10 bucks. I got the mini tonkotsu ramen with shrimp katsu and mochiko chicken. I enjoyed it! Waitress was a little huffy and in a rush to get us out of there before closing, but other than that, cheap, good eats!

5 stars for me and my family because we keep coming back again and again for the good and pretty cheap food. Our favorite is the tan tan ramen because it has a little bit of kick to it(I have a low tolerance — they do have a new spicy beef broth that my brother tried and he said that was spicy so I believe it) and I like the noodles. They include pork and kamaboko, but no egg(for those who like that in their ramen). Most of the time we get the combo, so a mini tan tan ramen plus side orders, usually of Gyoza, shrimp katsu, fish katsu, and the fried rice, all of which I think are pretty good. The katsu is nice and crunchy, and the fish katsu is a little bit of a different option. Also, the mini plus a side or two is a lot of food — I usually can’t finish a regular sized ramen haha. They also have holiday gift certificate promotions going on where if you buy $ 50 in gift certificates, you get $ 10 free. Pretty good deal if you’re going to keep going back. All in all, it’s close to home, has pretty good and cheap food, so we’ll definitely keep coming back.

Found this place using Unilocal.Didn’t want to eat at the restaurants that were close to the hotel, wanted to eat where the locals eat. The portions were huge and the prices are great, the combo’s are really a great deal. Great place to go for ramen. Didn’t disappoint.
