First time here but not my first barbecue. I am somewhat of a barbecue expert. This place is fabulous. Pork is so tender and lean. You must try the sweet tea collard greens. Fabulous! I would definitely recommend!

Where should I begin? We came here for trivia. There was literally no table available. It was 5 minutes or more before anyone who worked here even greeted us. She finally walked up to us and looked around and said«it’ll be a few minutes». We were offered to sit with the trivia host by the trivia host NOT the employees of this restaurant. The trivia host flagged down the waitress and she came to get our drink order. Debated on whether to order food or not since we were not impressed with service so far. We looked at the menu for about 8 minutes until the waitress came back by and said a table was open we could sit at. We give her our order of two pulled pork sandwiches and moved to the new table. We waited a while for the food and when it arrived it was the wrong thing. I believe she said«two brisket plates» and I said«no we had two pulled pork sandwiches» she looked confused like we were in the wrong. A few more minutes passed and out comes two cold pulled pork sandwiches. The flavor of the pulled pork was good but temperature was disappointing. The side items were just okay.(Fries and coleslaw). My husband wanted a banana pudding so we ordered that, we ordered it while finishing our sandwiches.(Only because of the slow service.) The banana pudding came and looked really good. The taste was good but the pudding was room temperature, we both looked at each other and thought shouldn’t this be very cold. We flagged the waitress down and explained to her something wasn’t right with the pudding and asked her to remove it from our check. She removed it and brought us our check. If I could give no stars I would. I would not recommend this restaurant. A waste of time and money.

This place is DELISH! The service has been fast and friendly. The atmosphere is a nice combination of a casual laid-back barbecue joint, plus a nice bar with a great selection. The food selection is also great, and their house sauces are SO good. So far I’ve tried the pork rinds, Brunswick stew, smoked wings, mac & cheese, brisket patty melt, and ‘piglets’ — an appetizer of fried Peppadew peppers stuffed with cheese. It has all been awesome, but I’m most impressed with their brisket! I’ve found this is a good marker for a barbecue restaurant — a lot of folks really muck it up. Theirs is moist and delicious. I will definitely be coming back.

I ordered a chicken salad for $ 9 and got a plate full of lettuce. Very little chicken in the salad all and it was bland. The onions were big pieces and the lettuce pieces were huge too. I got the bottom of tomatoes as well. For $ 9 I expected the salad to be a lot better than it was. Lower your price or spruce up the salad.

Pork was tender and had a slight hint of smoke. I prefer to have more of a smoke flavor, though. If you are more of a sauce person, you’ll like the pork with their sauces. Baked beans were OK. Baked Potato Saladwas served warm and is pretty good. Nice touch with the garnish of homemade pork skins. Staff was very attentive and nice. I’ll be back to try their other items. As a point of comparison of my review, Community Q(Decatur, GA) sets the bar for good barbeque served at a restaurant.

Great salad and pickled okra! Kiddos loved the pork sandwiches. We all have it a solid 4 stars!

For long time there wasn’t any decent barbecue place on Norcross part of the 141. In fact there weren’t many decent restaurants. But because of the development of the neighborhood and the restaurant boom that followed the recession, ‘Hog & Ale smokehouse’ opened it’s door for business some four months ago in a crowded shopping complex that already had restaurants like Kool Runnings, Samui Island thai cuisine and some fast food restaurants. I only noticed this place when I went to drop some clothes at GoodWill, which is also located at the same complex. So I decided to take-out some dinner! The décor inside was nothing to write home about. If you have been to any other barbecue place, you can take a guess. Prominent bar? Check. square tables with small uncomfortable chairs? check. number of bottles of sauces on the table? Check. pictures of team they support and sponsor? check. some ‘cold beer’ sign? you got it! so take a look at pictures. Not to say it’s tasteless, just that it’s, eh, predictable. And waiters and folks here are quite friendly. I was welcomed and my order was taken promptly. And they answered my questions about restaurant and politely asked to spread the word. Well, it’s entirely depends on how good their food, isn’t it? But after tasting, it’s safe to say I will be returning here. Menu here also has all the standard items you would see at other barbecue places — wings, sandwiches, meat plates, meat combo plates and ribs. But they also surprisingly offer salads with different meat options and I am glad someone is finally doing it. And judging from pictures posted by others, it doesn’t look like an after thought. As for my order — I ordered beef brisket plate which comes with two sides and a buttered piece of toast. And I ordered collard greens and onion rings for my sides. Note that, here onion rings is one of a premium sides that would cost $ 0.95 more. I was told everything here is slow smoked for hours! So they brought my order quickly — enough time to fry onion rings and pack sauces. The brisket came with four sauces, sweet mustard sauce, house sauce, sweet & spicy sauce and Johnnys vinegar sauce. And that sweet & spicy sauce was just a sweet sauce — I didn’t feel any hint of heat in it whatsoever. Just think of them as slightly different flavored sweet sauces in varying consistencies. The Brisket was good. Really, really good! You can order it chopped or sliced but when it comes to brisket, it’s always sliced for me. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful and I can clearly see nice smoke ring on the meat. If you ever go here, GETTHIS! The collard greens surprisingly had good kick of heat on it. I wasn’t at all expecting that after tasting their barbecue sauces. I liked it. And onion rings was standard affair again — it was crispy outside & tasted pretty good and that’s good enough for me. Overall, I like this new place — I would definitely go back here again. Is it the best brisket I have ever had in Atlanta? No, but quiet close. I would deeply appreciate if they had some sauce that’s not entirely sweet. I can’t wait to go back and try their pulled pork and ribs. 4 stars.

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday, and it was pretty sparse(6 patrons total including ourselves). The BBQ was good — not great — and I would definitely come back, but we didn’t have the ‘wow this is incredible’ barbecue other reviewers appeared to have from their reviews. My wife had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich and really enjoyed it, but her side — Brunswick Stew — was a bit of a disappointment. We like Brunswick stew with our BBQ, and I’m afraid the smokey style at Hog & Ale is a bit overwhelming. She added some of the vinegar based BBQ sauce to it to make it a bit more palatable. I had a combo plate of Brisket and Pulled Pork. Portions were generous, and I was definitely stuffed. I thought the Pork and Brisket were both very good; but not BBQ I would ‘crave’ or go out of my way for. Our server was terrific and was friendly, came by and refilled our drinks and checked on us regularly. Sure, there weren’t many people there when we went but we’ve had servers and staff vanish at other spots — so A+ on the service team at Hog & Ale. Bottom line: for us, it’s a bit closer than other BBQ joints and more convenient. That alone will probably see us return, as long as the food’s decent. However, there’s better BBQ to be had throughout Atlanta(and OTP).

I like this place. The food is great, the service is attentive and it’s not terribly far away. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived at 7:00pm on a Saturday, so they let us pick our seat. Our server, Matt, was great. Very helpful with the menu and gave me a sample of the new Jekyll IPA when the keg kicked halfway through my first pint. He also put the Braves game on for us. We like this guy; he went out of his way to make our experience better. We ordered the corn nuggets to start, which were fantastic, btw. Like fried mac & cheese, only with corn instead of elbows. Then we jumped right in with both feet, ordering the Heap of Meat; this is a half pound each of three kinds of meat(there are four to choose from). We went with pulled pork, chopped brisket and ribs. The ribs are awesome; don’t miss them. The brisket and pork were both good, but the ribs were fantastic. The Heap comes with two sides and one piece of texas toast. We paid for a second piece that we didn’t eat. The baked potato salad was SO good; please be sure to try it. The Mac & cheese, however, was terrible. Tasted like they poured queso over bow tie pasta. No flavor whatsoever and a complete lack of actual cheese. You can’t serve ribs this good and expect people to eat this crap. It’s unacceptable; please change it. We’re definitely coming back, now that we’ve got a better idea of the menu. Looking forward to it!

OK… so wifey convinced me to go back here… and I have to update my review, as the rib tips were much better this time. I really enjoyed our meal, mainly due to this improvement. Also, tried the creamed corn this time… and it was very good. Maybe a bit too much cream and not enough corn… but that is nitpicky. I still cannot quite get to 5 stars, as I stand by my original assessment on the pork… without sauce, it is a bit lacking… and true pork BBQ has good flavor without sauce. But… again…I found improvement… and developed a desire to go back to have the Rib Tips again… so…up the stars!

What a great experience. .. Our waiter(I wish i got his name) was so helpful. He let us know about a certain beer that is going to be available soon. I didn’t even ask, he just thought i would like to know because of the beer i ordered. Also, we talked a little more and he found that i like really spicy foods. He went back to the kitchen and the chef made a special hot sauce for me that’s not on the menu and the chef came or and explained what was in it. I can’t remember now what is in it, but it was AWESOME and HOT! I asked what I would ask for if I came back and wanted the sauce. He said to just ask for«Jeff sauce».(Actually, I’m not positive that’s his name, but I’ll definitely be asking for that sauce again and calling in to see when they’re going to be serving my favorite bet that I can never find anywhere.) Besides all of that, the food was fantastic! My ribs were so tender, I could literally just pull the bones out. My onion rings were crisp and seemed to be made in-house. My husband got the wings and taster tots. Excellent! The tots were really crisp and the wings(smoked) were crisp on the outside, but juicy on the inside. They were also a good size. Not huge, but not small at all. Hog and Ale gets a BIG thumbs up from me!

Tried out a new lunch spot today. Brisket platter, half chopped/half sliced, beans and collards. The sliced was a little dry, the beans were fine, but the collards were pretty damn good. The chopped had way more fat content making it less dry and the fresh pork rind & Texas toast were a nice touch. I’ll come back and order something different.

Superb brisket & pork. I haven’t had the other items but I bet they are as well. Traditional banana pudding, huge portion, my son is devouring now.

Ok, so we have now been to Hog and Ale three times and the best way to describe it is extremely inconsistent. The first time the brisket was dry, but had good flavor. The second time the brisket was amazing… so good that I raved to my coworkers and told them all to go. And I couldn’t wait to go back. The third time was grey, had absolutely NORUB and was dry as a bone. This last time wasn’t just underwhelming it was downright horrible. I hope all those people I raved to don’t go on an off day, but it’s apparently a crapshoot. That’s not a good look. I really hope they figure it all out.

Brisket sandwich, pork sandwich really good. Smoked wings are off the chain. Try the piglets they are peppers stuffed with pimento cheese, really good. Met the owners, really nice. Really good local restaurant for Peachtree Corners.

Still new but already off to a great start! We tried the«piggies» appetizer(can’t remember the real name) and they were awesome! BBQ brisket salad was great(brisket needed some BBQ sauce for flavor) and I loved the pickled okra and homemade balsamic am dressing. Mac and Cheese — on point! Best(Mom’s homemade) key lime pie and the key lime cheesecake was a great choice too and generally I don’t care for cheesecake. As they work through the kinks this is sure to be a gem!

I really wanted to like this place, I really did… but I was unimpressed. The meat was tender, but pretty flavorless. We tried the brisket, pork, and ribs. Mediocre all around. The sauces didn’t wow me either. Overall, a «meh.»

Delicious new BBQ in the neighborhood. Had the brisket and the bruswick stew. Both were off the chain. The stew had just a hint of heat to kick start the taste buds with just the right amount of pulled pork.

Apparently just opened today or yesterday… no mac and cheese at a BBQ restaurant is unacceptable with all of the competition around. That alone caused us to not order an appetizer. The brunswick stew was literally tomato soup with extra corn, should have been served with a grilled cheese in order to eat all of it. We eat out all of the time, always looking for new delicious spots. We may try this place out again in a few months but based on the 1st impression we will not be back. Sorry guys, Que is right up the road!

Just opened. Tried pork sandwich and stew — pork is very lean and plentiful. Stew is bit spicy for my taste but I left none. Bought a lb of pork to go and will return. Note: No beer/wine as yet due to delay with state licensing.

This place finally opened it’s doors a couple of days ago in a soft opening, stopping in today found it quite then remembered it was a holiday. Some of you might be familiar with the name Hog & Ale they have been doing catering in the area. The b.b.q. offered is smoked for 12– 16 hours strange you won’t smell it walking in and had to question this I was told the smoker is out back. The Pulled Pork sammy is on brioche and served with a choice of sides today onion rings, added a side of greens and was surprised to find a few pork rinds came with the combo yum. Four different sauces are brought with your order sweet, mild, vinegar based and mustard after sampling all of them found none that interesting as I prefer something on the spicy side. Hog & Ale has a few things to work out the collards are lacking flavor, the creamed corn has frozen corn and thickens quickly upon cooling down and would have preferred the meat to be warm instead of cool. The waitresses(guessing) that were there(2) were both huddled up under jackets or stretched out in a booth up front taking selfies. For those of you that are sports fans there are four t.v.‘s available, wings both smoked or fried and saw some beer taps. Combo’s of meat are available as is meat by the pound and sides in three different sizes.
