Decided to check this place out after reading other reviews here. I tried their dumplings. They were very good and the broth used had a great flavor. I also had the beef lo mein. They used just the right amount of sauce which left the noodles sticky and not wet. This is definitely a good place if a bit out of the way in the suburbs.

We really enjoy this little restaraunt. Son absolutely loves the dumplings. I’ve like everything I’ve tried. They have a pretty limited menu and it is prepared to order. Slower than many Asian eateries we’ve been to, but we will be sure to return.

Surprised and extremely pleased to find authentic Chinese food south of Atlanta. Soup dumplings are on point – must try. Had an excellent sichuan style fish in chilis and broth(ma la flavor). Fish was delicate and flavor was authentic. Taste buds numbed in the most satisfying and delicious way possible. The fine rice noodles in the soup were tasty as well; they soak up the flavors nicely. I was less a fan of the beef soup I tried once. Romaine lettuce just isn’t right in this dish. Service is friendly but not prompt.

Got take out from here. Ordered a whole bunch of different items that other Unilocal reviewers had suggested as being yummy and they were! The order was ready promptly and the young gentleman who brought out the order and rang us up was polite. I am not an expert in Chinese food but the food here has more of a homemade feel to it than other places I have been to and some different menu items than most Chinese restaurants.

This is real food. Modest portions, amazingly complex and delicious. I’m not an expert on Chinese food — but this is the best I’ve ever had! Like eating at a friends house. Next time I’ll order a noodle soup…yummmmy.

The food in this resturaunt was actually pretty good. The Shanghai Dumplings were tasty and fresh. I had the pineapple chicken, which was also good, but a little too sweet. My wife had the stewed beef noodles and that dish was also quite good. The person that waited on us was not familiar with the menu and seemed not to have spent much time in training. The bathroom had apparently been mopped with a kitchen mop, because the floors were very greasy. Overall, the food was good and the service was mediocre.

Best xiaolongbao in Atlanta! To my surprise, this was even better than what I’ve had on Buford Hwy. If you can make the drive, go for it. This place does not disappoint.

I tried this place for the first time based on the great Unilocal reviews and they didn’t disapppoint. I wanted a light dinner so I chose an order of the soup dumplings and a small bowl of the beef curry soup. They brought the soup first and it was homemade and delicious! A light curry flavor in the broth but not overpowering with a generous helping of fresh chopped cilantro floating on top. There were a couple of pieces of thinly sliced beef and rice noodles at the bottom. They also brought me instructions on how to eat soup dumplings while my order was made from scratch. The soup dumplings came out a few minutes after the soup and there were also delicious! You could tell the dough was made fresh as well as the filling. I’m definitely coming back to this place to try some of the seafood wonton soup and a few of the Shanghai-style entries. This is definitely not your local Chinese joint. This is a specialty restaurant that is family run with entrees that have the flavors and textures of Shanghai.

Fantastic, authentic Shanghai cuisine — a rare gem in this area of Georgia. Features a small menu of specialized dishes. My wife and I had the soup dumplings, pork buns and beef noodles. All were freshly cooked and outstanding. I’ve traveled extensively to China and Shanghai over the past two decades, and this is as good as it gets. It’s a small mom & pop joint, and the staff are polite and accommodating.

I really hate to write this review. My hubby and I were really looking forward to trying this place because of all the great reviews and other people talking about it on facebook. We ordered to go one evening and ordered a bunch of items, many of which we are very familiar with and eat all the time. We ordered: –shao-mai — I didn’t realize when I ordered that this was sticky rice shumai and not the pork shumai we are used to eating. It looked nice and delicious but it was lacking flavor. –sweet and sour spareribs — not bad but not great either –Szechwan pocket — super oily and not much flavor. We were very disappointed with this dish. –fried pork chop rice– just battered pork chop. The batter wasn’t seasoned or seasoned enough nor was the pork chop. Also the fried rice that came with it was not good at all. Not much flavor. –chives and shrimp dumpling — this is one of my favorite dimsum item and I was really dissapointed with this, too much batter, not enough filling and so oily. –pork dumpling — only thing we really like and their dumpling was not bad. They gave us hoisin sauce as a dipping sauce which was the first. Where’s my vinegar or Soy base sauce? I’m sorry but just because the menu items here are different from your typical Chinese restaurant in the area doesn’t mean it’s good. My husband and I frequent Buford Hwy all the time and have eaten at many of the Chinese restaurant up there that serves all kinds of authentic Chinese food(Cantonese, Schezuan, Taiwanese etc) Chef Lui being one of them that serves similar menu item that Shanghai Kitchen offers and this place doesn’t even come close. Even though, we didn’t enjoy our first order here, I would give this place another chance(if we were in the area) and maybe try their Xiao long bao(soup dumplings) and some of the other items that they were out of when we placed our order. I really hope then, we’ll change our mind about this place because it would really be nice to have a Chinese restaurant in this area that serves Authentic food and not the Americanized Chinese food.

Nice helpful staff. I miss Formosa. I did not find the«authenticness» an advantage as other reviewers. Prices have gone up under new management. I may try once more, perhaps.

Finally, a place in PTC to get steamed pork buns, sesame balls, and an assortment of dumplings! Everything tasted fresh and only lightly seasoned with accompanying hot sauce. Table behind us ordered soup that looked good. Another table had lo mein that looked less appetizing, but I usually feel that way about large noodle dishes. Loved the flower tea in the glass pot. The menu is very limited, so don’t go expecting 6 pages of hot&sour, cashew varieties with every meat. Instead, expect a variety of dumplings, buns, lo mein, fried rices, spring rolls, soups, and entrees. Limited vegetables. I hope this restaurant makes it, but it will be a struggle, so if you love dim sum items, please stop in and show your support. I couldn’t connect with the webpage that was on their shirts, but they are on Facebook with menu. They close between 3 and 5pm even on weekends.

Soup dumplings are worth waiting in line for. And you don’t have to. Yet. Great food and authentic. Not your Americanized version.

Loved it when they first opened. Nice xiaolongbao, amazing flavor in their sauces. The service was great Thursday night, but the food had lost its edge and the menu is spreading strangely. Beef was halfheartedly overcooked, sauce was not what it used to be, vegetables didn’t have a lot of that great flavor, char siu bau was more of a Sloppy Joe. Did they lose their cook? Would like to see some vegetables on the menu to break up the carbs, and I could do without the soup. Still hopeful for a quick comeback — they have all the right elements.

Great and authentic shanghai and Chinese food! Soup dumplings, wonton and beef noodle soup is sooooo delicious! Highly recommended! Best Shanghai soup dumplings and wonton I ever had in Georgia! You won’t be disappointed. Excellent service! People there are very nice, too! ^_^

WOW! I’m Chinese American, have been to Shanghai, and have lived in Los Angeles and New York — this restaurant has great and authentic Chinese(specifically Shanghainese food)! The soup dumplings are the highlight of the menu(and better than what I’ve had on Buford Highway). I also enjoyed their pork dumplings and curry beef noodle soup. I can’t wait to come back and try their pan-fried dumplings! I was also really impressed by the quality of the food and the owners’ attention to detail. Easily my favorite Chinese restaurant in Fayette county! Update: went back for their pan fried dumplings(not on the menu, but they make them most days if you ask) — delicious! They also have some dim sum(e.g., har gow/shrimp dumplings, red-bean filled fried sesame balls) and Szechuan hot pot dishes.

Authentic Chinese cuisine unlike any other I’ve recently experienced. This is not the American-Chinese buffet-style food you’re accustomed to; these folks take pride in their menu and service, and it feels like you’re enjoying home-cooked family recipes, prepared when you order with fresh quality ingredients. Nothing tastes canned or processed. Our server helpfully directed us toward their signature appetizer, the soup dumplings. They look like other steamed dumplings you’ve tried, except these have some broth on the inside with the filling. They even give you a comic page that describes the proper way to eat these morsels. Absolutely unique and delicious. The entrée items were uniformly top-notch. Our favorite was the Szechuan Pork, served with these unique little freshly-made steamed buns for stuffing with the delicious pork filling. Also delicious was the Vegetable LoMein and ‘Shanghai Fried Rice.‘ The service was friendly and helpful; it felt like we had personal tour guides leading us in this culinary adventure. Our kids, all under 12, ate a little of everything and wanted more. Sadly, we were the only diners in the restaurant for lunch this afternoon; I suspect that will change as word starts to get around.

Just had lunch here today and really enjoyed it! The menu is authentic style Chinese food — not American style — but don’t be put off by this! We had Chinese tea, soup dumplings, pork dumplings and Shanghai soup. All were delicious! The staff was friendly and the service was good. A huge party came in right after us, but our food still came out quickly. Really enjoyed our meal, and we will be returning soon.
