THEYAPPEARTOBECLOSED. Stopped here the other night, all the lights were off and dinning room closed down. Not sure if they’re permanently closed or if they’re remodeling…

Nothing exceptional. Stopped in for lunch but the meals are so overpriced we settled to split an appetizer. Calimari was bland and small, $ 4.50 for a raspberry tea with no refills. The only saving grace was the service. Sorry, won’t be back.

Another bad experience. Went after Christmas. Sat at the bar. Ordered fish sandwich(don’t order). The fries were cold and fish way overcooked. This location has really gone downhiil. The new menu n [t good and way overpriced.

Ok… I haven’t had words for a restaurant in a while. Not good not bad, but tonight has to be the exception. My boyfriend and I went to Joe’s at the north shore mall for a nice dinner. Great waitress, pleasant atmosphere and the food was good… this is where it gets dicey! My boyfriend lets me in on what he is looking at to be aware there is a mouse running across the floor of the dining room! A MOUSE! VERMON! Are you serious?! Then he tells me he’s seen one there before. We call over a waitress who sees apparently the stricken look in my face and ask“do we need our waitress”? I said she would be our second choice. To rid us the mouse running across the dining room would be my first choice. Waitress comes over. Gives us the check tells us manager is coming over. She’s is hopping a round for fear of the mouse. Manager never comes over. I sit on the seat with feet up. Are you kidding me!!! Manager never came over! We paid and left I took mickeys pic. If I could download I would. Save yourself from joes.

Joe’s has gone down hill over the years. The menu prices keep climbing and the quality and service staff is going down hill. Stopped in for a quick lunch, was looking forward to their classic Rueben Sandwich, unfortunately it was taken off the menu. I decided on cup of onion soup and only wanted half of salad, they do not accommodate with a half/side salad, or even a lunch menu. The prices of the salads are upwards of 15 dollars(before the protein), which I think is too steep for a pub and lunch. I was the only one at the table in the bar area and the bartender read the paper the whole time, I had to grab her attention twice, once to order and once to leave. I could have used more hot water for my tea, but she never came by to check in during the meal. Ambiance is dim and chairs and bathroom are getting rundown. Also could have done without the loud rock and roll music at noon time. UPDATE: I was up the mall today, walked in the entrance next to Joe’s and there was a large sign on the door stating they were closed. It’s too bad, they messed with a good thing. For years it was the«go to» Bar and Grill, great menu, fair prices and decent service., They shot themselves in the foot with the new ridiculous priced menu with no lunch options and penny pinching cutbacks.(removing the onion ring garnish from burger, taking classic sandwiches off menu, over priced apps etc. Used to bring my boys here all the time but stopped because I don’t enjoy paying 75 dollars for a casual dinner for 3. Sorry to see this chapter close, perhaps they will put a decent replacement, I pray it isn’t one of those horrible Chicken places with 1000 tv sets. There are becoming less and less family options on the North Shore that are not Chilis or Apple-bee quality.

Bad service and our chicken fingers were raw not 1 time but twice! I love the onion soup and the spin/artichoke dip but everything else sucks– including the service! Disappointed in our visit– for a soup and chicken finger app. We were here an hour and a half and it’s completely Dead– maybe 2 tables occupied and 1 guy at the bar.

There are a few problems here. The prices trend toward the high end for casual dining; being in a mall it can get crowded with long waits; they’ve changed the menu several times and not for the better(R.I.P. Garbage Salad). On the other hand it delivers on the food. The burgers, ribs, steak tips, pasta and pizza are all top notch. The staff, from the hostess to waiters to the manager are all accommodating, pleasant and professional. We never leave here without thoroughly enjoying our visit. Yes, it costs a bit more than some local pubs, but the food is good. Try the gazpacho. It is one of the best we’ve ever had. Unfortunately, it’s only available for a few weeks during the summer. Everything is fresh, the chef will accommodate personal requests, and management handles any complaints quickly and efficiently. You don’t really feel like you’re at a chain. And the bread! That loaf of bread to start your meal is so good! In fact, if you order soup or chowder, get it in a bread bowl, you won’t regret it. Also, they do something that few other restaurants do. When you order a burger, or any type of sandwich, before your meal arrives your waitperson brings over all of the condiments that you might need: several mustards, ketchup, horseradish sauce, etc. so much better than getting your order and then waiting for the condiments to arrive later, while your food is getting cold. Other restaurants take note! Whether you’re at the mall or not, this is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. Ask for one of the larger booths next to the windows, then sit back and enjoy!

Awful dining experience here. I brought my mother for brunch. It was a long wait, very crowded, and our poor waiter seemed to be serving the entire section without any help. Not his fault at all, and he was very nice. We ordered the sticky bun brunch appetizer and it came on a skillet. I know skillets are hot so I didn’t touch that but when I touched the bun, I burned my finger. A legit burn that hurt and turned red and throbbed. We couldn’t even eat it, it was that hot. My mother finally complained when the waiter checked on us and his manager came over and gave me ice. It cooled down so we ate it and waited for our meals. When they finally did arrive, they were lukewarm at best. Not edible and we again had to complain. The manager took it all off of the bill but I wouldn’t return there again.

Nice ambiance, but for the price you pay, not really worth it. I will say that they messed up my order and gave me a comp on a $ 21 dish, which I appreciated. But still, overall food experience is just«meh».

Your typical American bar and grill; everything you expect it to be, it is. The menu seems to be more pricey than what’s necessary. The staff is nice, the atmosphere is nice, and the burgers are delicious. Great place to have lunch!

I’ve been here multiple times over the years and they have changed their menu and recipes more than a few times. Enough where I felt no consistency in the food. After almost giving up on this place, I decided to give it one more try. I’m glad I did. The food was better than before and it seems like they hit their stride. Since then I have enjoyed the experience, staff and food. I would recommend.

I go here relatively often, and am always pleased by the warm, professional service, the quality of the food(good burgers, ribs, chili, steak tips, club sandwich), and their terrific accommodation of those who need or desire a gluten free meal. I like the comfortable atmosphere, the terrific bread, accommodation for others w/Gluten free rolls, and just the overall experience. Overall, a positive experience from all perspectives.

I had the tuna carpaccio salad today 12⁄23 and it was the best ever. The tuna was perfect, just enough dressing and enough lettuce and flavor to make it a perfect lunch. Even the pickled ginger was perfect. Thanks for a great experience during a crazy week!!!

Transformation from dull, sad tired food to something much better, house salad is a great improvement, main meals are now too big but better quality, service was on point, will go back.

For the price of everything I would think that the food would have been better. The serve was horrible also. I almost choked on my turkey burger it was so dry. I asked mayo that I never received. I did not finish my food. The bill was around 80, with tip and a glass of wine. It was just my husband and me. Too pricy to suck that bad.

I just flew into Boston and a friend and I needed something to eat around the hotel we were staying at in Peabody. He had been to Joe’s before and so we went. It was snowing pretty hard so the place was pretty empty. We sat in the bar and the waitress was very quick to come over and ask us if she could get us anything. I had a Boston Larger to celebrate being back in bean town. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious and came with spinach and artichoke side dish. My friend had a their regular burger and it looked very good. I am from Seattle so I eat and know good salmon when I have it and it was fantastic. We stayed for a few more drinks and when we left several of the staff thanked us for coming in. A nice friendly place! The restaurant is done in a lot of wood finishes and reminds me what a typical Boston restaurant /bar should look like. Nice place to eat to start my vacation. I would for sure go back again and enjoy the food and atmosphere again!

The smell when approaching the restaurant was very good. I couldn’t quite place what it was, but it did make me want to venture in. The host mentioned it might have been the spare rub meatloaf. After getting over the sticker shock, I ordered the meatloaf, and substituted a garden salad for the potatoes(with a $ 1 up charge). The coffee had a nice hickory flavor, and the salad came with the meatloaf instead if before. Also, I asked for no tomato, but ended up picking out the ones that came with it anyway. The spare BBQ rub meat loaf was tasty, with a nice smokey flavor. The spice hits you right off like a Tennessee BBQ, instead of building slowly like the St. Louis Style. This doesn’t take away from the flavor, just a different way if presenting. The price was reasonable for the portion, but a reduction in both probably would be better served. I don’t think I’d go here again for casual dining. A more formal date seems to be more to scale.

I had never been to a Joe’s before so I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it was going to be more casual inside. Instead, the décor, waitstaff and even other patrons seemed to be dressed up. It was Easter Sunday… so I should have known I guess. Despite it being«upscale-casual» when we were seeking just ‘casual’ we decided to give it a whirl. The hostess wasn’t very welcoming and our waitress was upfront about telling us that she wasn’t excited to be working on Easter. We open the menu only to find overpriced American/Italian/Steakhouse fare. I guess the pricing fit the décor. We order burgers($ 12 each). They were good but nothing spectacular. Glad I didn’t pay $ 16 for chicken strips or $ 18 for pasta. There are a lot of places that you can get a burger, for a lot less $$$. So I won’t be back…
