We came here after hearing about the food from a friend. The setting was awesome– rustic, casual. The menu: everything looked amazing. But we all(3 of us) ended up getting the Trio Appetizer(Fried mac and cheese balls, catfish and fried green tomatoes) and chicken and waffles. The tomatoes lacked seasoning but the Vidalia sauce that comes with it sort of makes up for it. The chicken tenders that came with the waffles could have used more seasoning as well. The waffles would’ve been perfect if not for the grease from the chicken soaking them. They tasted like funnel cake. The service is probably where this place is lacking the most. We seemingly had two servers the whole time. The lady seemed to have it together. The guy, however was very scattered and made it difficult to enjoy the experience. He even answered his phone while at our table! As one of our friends said, «The concept is great, food is great, but there isn’t any real organization».

First time having real southern food. Got the chicken and waffles and it was fantastic! And the owners came and talked to us, super nice! If I didn’t live so far away, I’d definitely come regularly!

I’ve been several times and there are a few consistencies: first, the fried pork chop is always amazing and huge, second, the service is always sub par though the staff is friendly, and third, the beer selection is lacking. Other than those three things everything else there is wildcard. Not my cup of tea.

A gem hidden in Payne City in the middle. of Macon. Fried Green Tomatoes, crunchy and tart. Pork rinds were crunchy but not hard … not fried this morning either … tonight. Both a little unde salted … but not that it slowed is down. Entrees shared: Chicken and Waffles w gouda cheese grits, and Catfish and chips. Belgian waffle was how it’s supposed to be … crisp outside and custardy tender inside. By itself with the hand battered chicken tenders, it was spectacular. Chicken needed some salt to stand up to the black pepper maple syrup. Again, small and solvable problem. Catfish fillets w cornmeal batter was plump, moist, crunchy and perfectly fried. The spicy remoulade was perfect sauce for it(dash salt put it over the top). Service from general manager himself. Gracious, inviting, and attentive. No pretention at all … hospitable just like everything else in the joint. No hesitation giving 5 stars and coming back for shrimp and grits… and wahtever their new menu has in store.

No words to describe the meal I had at Twangs. I am absolutely speechless and that says a lot. I am a sucker for Southern Cuisine. We were in Macon Georgia for one day. Looking for a quick meal on the way found Twangs on my Unilocal app. This place is hidden off the beaten path. What used to be a cotton mill in the 1920s is now a southern comfort food gem. As soon as I walked in I loved it. The ambiance is inviting. Motown soulful music playing in the background. The service is best described as southern hospitality. Warm, sweet and welcoming. Now for the food. The best I’ve had yet. To start we had the Messy collard greens and Artichoke dip. Delicious. The fried chicken was perfect. The breading was perfectly proportioned and crunchy. The chicken was super moist. My son had the Slap Yo’ momma BBQ sandwich and loved it. The pulled pork was full of flavor. The attraction of the meal was by far the shrimp and grits. Omg, I can’t say enough. The texture of the grits was perfect. The dish was creamy and full of flavor. The bonus was that it had at least 10 shrimps. Im so used to having that dish in other places and it only coming with 4 measly shrimp. The Gouda cheese added took it to a whole other level. Of course for dessert I had to have the bread pudding. It was delicious! I truly enjoyed my dining experience and loved talking to our waitress Star. She was a true example of what Southern Hospitality represents. If in Macon Georgia again, I will be visiting Twangs.

Great restaurant. Great service. Great food. The prices are very good. They have awesome classic rock music if that’s your thing. Great place to hang out with family business or friends. Bathrooms are clean. The turkey Dijon is off the TWANG!

We love this place. our first time here together and it just happens to be the day before Valentines… which makes this a special lunch… it’s very peaceful and private during the day but at night this place comes alive with the locals…

Went with a dinner club had never heard of this place but one of our members recommended it. Food was amazing. Had fish tacos, hubby had the chicken both were good. Make sure you check your bill we were charged for drinks we did not get same thing happened to 3 other couples at our table. In the defense of the restaurant we had a large group. Had a singer playing 70’s and 80’s music he was very good and pleasant to listen to. The table had the fried pork rinds and the deep fried macaroni and cheese both you should try at least once. We will be back.

Need to only serve drinks and packaged chips. There is nothing Southern about this establishment.

We stopped at this place to grab lunch and watch a World Cup game during our RV trip. Trey, our server, was great. We got accommodated with our dog under the shade in the back porch. Trey set up the TV to face us and was very attentive throughout our 2-hour stay. The southern food was great and hospitality even better. Ample parking available and good quality sports viewing experience. This place has tremendous potential tho likely a best kept secret known only to locals(just a guess). Will definitely stop by again given the opportunity. Thanks Trey!

I’m surprised at the poor reviews. Based off those we would not of come here of a local had not invited us. I got the yardbird with Swiss/bacon and my wife had the fried green tomato burger. We had sweet potato chips with blue cheese as an appetizer and my daughter got the hot dog with Mac and cheese. The food and service were good. The sweet potato chips and blue cheese were outstanding. My wife got the Southern Belle that was very good! Total with tips was only $ 40 and we had great service, so the place is a great value. We would definitely eat here again. Also of note the place is located in an old cotton mill!

A few weeks ago on a Fri night we were lookn for somewhere n something diff. to go eat w layed back atmosmusic style n good food. Much to my surprise we ended up at TWANG-and yes on a late Fri night! Best kept secret just next door to Macon-an inner city w/in a city! Sat upstairs-chilled a few hours listening to good music and ate great food n had a glass of wine. I love the menu-good choices not your typical menu items– great variety. Service was awesome-everyone was friendly-went back today for lunch w my 2 young sons in their 20s… they really liked the atmosphere n Twang burgers! My son is a big Unilocaler n read some neg. review’s before we ordered… we had no complaints-he has since posted his own positive review as he was very pleased w Twang. We will def. frequent this lil hide away again!

Had to stop in despite the negativity… very glad we did. The restaurant is constructed from a 1920’s cotton mill which makes for an industrial/open air environment. We were greeted and sat by the manager as soon as we walked through the door. From the moment we sat down our customer service was paramount. We started a casual lunch encounter with an array of six«Devil Went Down To Georgia Eggs» go for the bacon and cheese. Went a pretty heavy on the entrée with the«twang burger» sub’d the cheddar for blue cheese which made for a delectable pairing of flavors, added a side of fresh veggies and was amazed by the selection of desserts. If your looking for comfort food at a reasonable price… look no further!

We decided to stop here on Saturday for lunch. Had I read the reviews before we walked in we would not have stopped. Service was okay not great. Food was mediocre at best. Great looking menu and location but seems like they need to focus quality of food and efficiency of the servers. Another pet peeve was none of the table were cleared after guest left. In fact when we arrived they were 10 empty table but none were clean so they offered the patio which was nice. Would we stop here again? Unfortunately probably not. This is a great concept and location. If the food stays like it is this place will fail.

I’m giving them two stars because the manager refunded part of our tab since everything we ordered was so lousy. We went to twang specifically because all the ads made it look so tempting. Reading the menu I was pretty excited, as it was full of interesting choices. Unfortunately… the food is just awful and the service is simply bad. We were a party of three and we all selected different things, so we got to sample a lot of different items. The Brunswick stew was so sour I couldn’t eat it. The«fresh cut» French fries did not taste fresh cut. One of our sandwiches had a sauce on it that was so hot you couldn’t taste any other food after eating it. When we mentioned this to the waitress she said that’s why people send it back all the time and that she asked the kitchen to put it on the side for us, but they didn’t, so… her attitude was basically«sucks to be you». They were out of one side we ordered and the waitress actually asked if we still wanted a side to replace the one we couldn’t get. Well duh! Do we want what we paid for? Then when we asked to see the menu again because we hadn’t memorized the sides she acted like it was such an inconvenience for her, even though we already had out food and were stuck trying to reorder while it got cold. The only positive were that the mac and cheese was decent and the coffee was good, but you had to practically jump up and down to get the waitress to bring you more coffee. Everything else was terrible. Would never go back. Maybe they’ll make it as a bar because they have virtually no chance of succeeding as a restaurant unless they change out all their staff, starting with whoever is making the foul stuff that comes out the kitchen.
