The Texas wieners — my only reason for coming here — were really good. All Texas wieners have Greek origins, and thus a certain Middle Eastern/Mediterranean seasoning in the chili. This one was more robust, with a sort of Arabic spiciness to it in addition to the sweet. Maybe it was just in my head — this neighborhood is a wonderland of Arabic and Middle Eastern food — but I was impressed. The dog itself was not the cooked-to-death ripper I prefer, but it was a decent entry, not just an afterthought base for the toppings. The atmosphere is nothing special — they seem to have updated it recently, trying to make it seem diner-y, and it’s not particularly great or bad. Not really a lot of distinguishing character of a lot of hot-dog joints. The service was a little slow — there were no other customers at the time and staff was keeping themselves busy with other things as a result — but they were friendly. Good dog if you’re in the area.

Fifth stop on the 2010NJ Hot Dog Tour. We came here to sample the famous NJ Texas wiener. Which is basically a hot dog with chili. I had onions on mine. It was so so. The fresh brewed iced tea was served with a serious lack of ice and an awful taste. Won’t be back.

«what you see is what you get» Thats basically what you can expect from this place. Living only a few blocks from this place doesn’t make it anymore likely that I would be a regular here. I think the last time I went I warned my friend not to rest his arms on the table because the menu was sticking to it. I haven’t really experimented with their«cuisine» but tend to stick to dependable greasy fried goodness… like their mozzarella sticks. It’s cheap, it’s food, and I think they’re open all night. It is what it is… nothing to rave about.
