Post wedding Saturday night, found this gem for the after party and had a great time! DJ was consistently playing good music and there is plenty of room for both dancing or hanging out. Good crowd looking to have a fun night, seemed to be mostly locals as many knew each other. Drink prices are in-line for the area and had some nice heavy pours. Crowd starts building around 11pm and by midnight there’s a nice group. Would go again!

I have never had a worse experience at a restaurant. After a 50 minute wait when promised less than 15– every staff member was entirely unprofessional. After ordering oysters, 20 minutes later we received them — with Sand and shell in all of the 6 oysters. We mentioned it to Andrew, a «manager», and he couldn’t care less. Did nothing and just asked for a credit card. We paid $ 80 for under cooked bacon, burger, bacon and fries. Dealt with about 4 staff members, all rude and careless. We are good, reasonable people– extremely upset by our experience! Do NOT attend!

I ran the biggest Irish Pub in Los Angeles, right on Hollywood Blvd. My expectations are always high with these concepts. Food was delicious, staff was friendly, I’ll be back. Nice to see Paso has a good Pub. It’s a quaint little place, but more like an Irish Hybrid gastropub. Decent selection of Irish Whiskeys, burgers are great. Location makes it a chill hang out spot, or good to pregame before the movie.

The food is amazing don’t get me wrong but the service is horrendous… we r locals and come in at least once a week and R treated like they don’t even know us… Too bad. Bunch of kids with drug habits running the joint. Peace out Pappys.

This place has pretty good food and a cool atmosphere. It was a little strange that my fiancé ordered the corned beef and cabbage and they didn’t serve it with cabbage. When he asked the server where his cabbage was she said they didn’t serve it with cabbage. It’s definitely the most lively spot in downtown on a Friday or Saturday night and seems like it’s the local’s high school reunion spot but that’s fine since I’m not from here! My only negative was that they only had 2 bar tenders on one side and one on the lower side and the poor guy was getting swarmed with a constant 20 people waiting to order drinks. The bathroom was kind of gross too. Other than that cool spot in downtown!

This past weekend my girlfriend and I traveled to Paso Robles to celebrate our two year anniversary, and we had a long list of recommendations of restaurants, wineries, and bars from friends and family who been to Paso Robles many times. We stopped by Pappy’s to cool off with an ice cold beer after wine tasting and shopping in the hot sun all day. Great place for a quick bite to eat, highly recommend the Blarney burger and also the Haystack. Delicious burgers served with tasty garlic fries, alongside local brews from Barrel House was excellent!

Came back here to catch some appetizers on a rare night alone with my husband. I keep telling myself I’ll order something new on that menu but I keep going back to the steak n’ shrooms, although we also ordered the calamari. I just about single handedly finished out the steak and shrooms, it’s SOOO good! Calamari was just as awesome, large pieces and a generous amount paired with tarter and cocktail sauce. Next time, I will have to force myself to branch out.

Haven’t had a bad meal yet! I love the«pick your seat» style restaurants as you don’t get stuck at the side table for weirdos. Mostly because I’m a weirdo. I’ve got a few menu items that I will always order if I ever see them on a menu: braised lamb shanks, corned beef hash, and Brussels sprouts. Pappy’s has that last one. Armed with a Barrel House Sunny Daze, and these crispy nuggets of flavored awesomeness, you will probably be left speechless for at least five seconds, maybe ten or fifteen. It really depends on how long you chew. But really, if you like Brussels sprouts you’ll love these. The sprouts come out really crispy, the balsamic reduction is nice, and the goat cheese really helps temper the sweetness you get from the balsamic reduction. The short rib tacos, pretzel fondue, print rib sandwich are all excellent as well. Order a beer with lunch, they have excellent beer on tap, your mouth will thank you!

I’m all about it. I went for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a killer time. Drank local beers and partied. Upon waiting for my Über, i had some delicious tacos from the taco man out front. What a way to end a night of debauchery.

It’s unfortunate Unilocal!allows users, such as Vicki L. to post such false reviews. I was enjoying lunch the day Vicki L. was at Pappy McGregor’s. Vicki L. was completely inebriated and kept falling asleep at the bar. The Bartender nicely and kindly let her know that she was not allowed to fall asleep at the bar,(which is a fairly common rule at most bars). After completing what appeared to be a couple glasses of white wine, Vicki L. proceeded to stumble out the front door of the restaurant, almost fell down the stairs and then continued to stumble towards her car. The Bartender observed VIcki L.‘s behavior, ran towards her car and let her know it was not safe for her to drive. The Bartender was even nice enough to offer her a ride home! Vicki chose to sit inside the restaurant and call a friend. Her friend would not pick her up and the Bartender would not let her leave for her own safety, as well as the safety of the entire community. I’m glad the staff and management at Pappy’s looks out for their patrons, as well as the community they serve. I’ve never had a negative experience at Pappy’s, always feel welcome and love their food. People like Vicki L. are old enough to take responsibility for their own actions and should not be allowed to trash an establishment on Social Media for doing the right thing.

I went here for my first drink on my 21st birthday just after midnight on April 10th. I admittedly look very young so sometimes people have a hard time believing my age. The security outside the door really wasn’t friendly at all to me, and seemed to be annoyed when I excitedly told him it was my 21st birthday as I handed him my ID. But I’m not sure if that’s just the usual for a security guard at a bar. It kind of killed my excitement, but not a big deal really. We went inside to the second bar that is towards the dance floor and took a seat. The bartender was amazing. She was super sweet when I told her it was my birthday and I wasn’t sure what to get. She told me she’d buy me a shot for my birthday. Her choice was spot on for me, it was called a gummy bear. Loved it, and she said it was her favorite. My boyfriend and I ordered a couple drinks after that and even though she was super busy as it was extremely crowded, she still managed to ask if we were doing okay and we were enjoying our drinks. She definitely knew what she was doing and didn’t miss a beat or seem the least bit frazzled even when a bunch of jerks were barking at her to take their order. Wish I remembered her name so I could give her proper credit! I’ve also had their food in the past and it was very tasty, no complaints here. Everything is pretty expensive but it’s also really good quality and a fun atmosphere for young people. I’m looking forward to coming again next time I want to celebrate.

In today’s San Luis Obispo(county)Telegram-Tribune(3÷31÷16) the entertainment section ran a rather lengthy article on the best Nachos in the area. One of them that was mentioned was Pappy McGregor’s in Paso Robles. So, as a person who is evidently influenced by the media, I decided to try it. They describe their nachos as Braised Short Rib Nachos with prime rib chili, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño peppers, fresh guacamole, diced tomatoes and sour cream($ 15). They were all they were purported to be! My wife is a somewhat picky eater, so we had the jalapeños and sour cream on the side which made it a little more difficult to eat, but still okay. There was a generous amount of braised short rib meat, along with the ample portions of guacamole and diced tomatoes. As with most nachos, the chips in the center become soggy too fast, but then I always expect that to happen. Service was very good and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. After looking at the menu we discovered many interesting looking items. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to stop in again.

The location of Pappy McGregor’s is perfect and right on the square downtown but every time I try it I just can’t get a warm pub vibe out of it. My husband loves pubs and won’t go back. It was a bit better the last time I tried but the bar staff always seems young and distracted. Drinks are expensive and food just fair. I really want to like it I love pubs, I love the location. I’ve taken clients there multiple times, they never remember that I’ve been there before, there’s no cheers vibe no great happy hour nothing to make it a neighborhood gathering place. All I can think of is that it is there for the tourists. Such a bummer because they have a great patio and warm wood and two sides and and a back area. I’m hoping someone manages it someday to make it a real warm and local pub.

Hole in the wall, local, with a dance floor. I went here two nights in a row during my last visit to Paso. I’ve danced my heart away and made mistakes. I blame the dirt cheap drinks and the positive atmosphere. The locals that I met were all hospitable, social, and amazing dancers. Thank you, Paso.

Good option for lunch. They were able to make my lunch gluten free, and we sat outside in the back patio area. Cute and shaded area that is great for hanging out with friends. The salads are very large. I would recommend splitting them. Service was great. I would recommend it as a nice option when you are out shopping and hanging out downtown.

Pappys in Paso is a great option for anyone who is not up for the high-end eateries covering downtown Paso. The food portions are fare and the drink selection is intriguing(for whiskey + beer drinkers). I really enjoyed the house made pretzels and cheese fondue. While it is not an actual fondue of cheese, the sauce and pretzel combo are out of sight! Another fun fact about Pappys for anyone from out of town is that it becomes Paso’s ONLY club-type party atmosphere on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a good DJ come in and make great use of the indoor/outdoor space. Nice eclectic crowd and gets very packed.
