$ 1 Shock top, bud light. $ 2 Amber Bock, Stella, Michelob, Kirin, Fat Tire. $ 3(bottled) Sapporo, Bud, Corona, Asahi, Hoegarden, Heineken. Need I say more? Good prices on sushi too which is DELICIOUS!

Great for the price, but not the best sushi and teriyaki. I got a bento deal for $ 6.95, comes with chicken teriyaki, saladc tempura, crunch roll and rice. I also got an undercooked baked salmon roll. The salmon was raw :(Stick to tempura and teriyaki, skip the $ 2 rolls.

This place is now called«SAN» and is under new management. If you like K-pop music, cheesy music videos to match said music playing on multiple screens, awful restaurant design, blinking lights that give you a headache, soy sauce miso w/nuts, and smelly sushi thank this place is for you! We went new years day evening, two waiters for entire restaurant. They messed up our order several times and charged us for a dish they never brought out. All mistakes were taken care of politely and I understand when problems arise. Food quality was low, rice fell apart and was clumpy. Fish smelt bad and tasted funky. Sushi stop is way better! We don’t plan on coming back here ever again.

Just a note: this place is now called San Restaurant. The staff here are always friendly and prompt. When I have a sushi craving and don’t want to break the bank, this is where I come. I’ve been in twice to get sushi to go and it’s great quality! You cannot beat the price ANYWHERE else in Old Town. Super cheap and also delicious… What more can you ask for?

Little sushi store along the old town strip(sort of on the outskirts though), pretty cheap all around for anything that you order. They have small udon for about $ 5 so yeah… cheap. but still good! Got the salmon sashimi and it was so fresh and delicious, I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that fresh since it was cheaper than most places but blew me away! Good customer service, very attentive, even the chef came out to check on how my food was, little old asian man, so cute! Would definitely recommend for a late night eat, they close at 11, and it’s pretty quiet around the evening times. Oh and tip, if you want to use the restroom, you need to ask for a key for the door. :)

Sushi isn’t really that great, low grade quality, ended up getting charged regular price for items I ordered off the happy hour menu. Ended up throwing away nearly half of it away because it tasted pretty awful the second it got cold. If you’re desperate and broke for sushi, this is the place for you(hence the 2 stars, but it’s really like a 2.75 star). Lobster is no bueno, don’t order it, onion rings were soggy, over did it with the rice around all the sushi I ordered, sorry homie, I ordered sushi not 6 balls of rice.

I’m glad I waited a while to review this place. I’ve eaten at Tenno maybe about 10 times this past year. During that time, I’ve had 5 or 6 different people as server or cashier, and I’ve experienced a whole range of pretty good, so-so, to bad service. The food itself is ok. They raised prices a couple months ago. It used to be $ 2 for most sushi rolls, but now basic rolls start at $ 2.75. I try to be realistic since the price is so low, I’m not expecting highest grade sushi. If you’re a sushi snob who can only eat the best, freshest sushi and sashimi available, don’t bother coming here. They also changed from semi-service to full service restaurant. I used to come here, order at the counter, seat myself, get the food from the counter when they call my number(or they’ll take it to your table when it’s not busy). When I’m done I put away my plates at the tray drop off. This way, I don’t feel guilty about leaving only a dollar for tip as it’s not a full service place.(my bill is always less than $ 10) I’m not planning to come back anytime soon since I’ve come to realize that I’ve gotten bad service way more often than good, and the restaurant being full service now means I need to tip more than 15%. The last time I went there I had this waitress who was so rigid, no smile, and in a hurry to remove my plates. I come there during my one-hour lunch breaks so I do take my time eating, but I always go after 2 pm when the restaurant is hardly ever busy. The one time I went there a couple min after 11(which is when they’re open), they told me «oh we’re actually still opening right now. Wait 10 more min.» No apology, no offer of water while I’m waiting, no nothing. Just left me standing out front for 10 more min. tl;dr If you just want average sushi for cheap, and you don’t care about getting bad service, come here. If you want average sushi for cheap AND better service, go to Sushi Stop down the street.

I was greeted by a very nice young lady at the front, and was asked how many people in party. I saod three, but changed my mind and wanted to order to-go. I ordered a small teriyaki bowl, which was $ 6. Not bad. I waited about 15 min for it… eh. But when I got home to eat it, it was all teriyaki! This was my first tine ordering from this place, which is now renamed btw. If i had known how much teriyaki they were going to put, I would have put it on the side. I really wanted to like this place, and maybe I’ll come back, but i’ll be sure to order my sauce on the side. Alright and friendly enough service, but i wasted my money on food that i couldnt eat

This place charges 2.75 for sushi. Come on, you can’t expect it to be fresh from the fish market quality. Regardless of this, the quality wasn’t poor. It was pretty good for what you pay! I asked for 4 rolls and a miso soup, paid $ 17(plus $ 3 for tip) and everything was delivered very timely and it was alright. The service was nice, a bit short, but they were professional. I noticed that they had regulars who they spoke with, and I think that’s very important in a restaurant. Overall this place is a good stop for someone looking to try sushi for the first time and try basic raw fish. It’s good for the price and the little place is pretty interesting. I’m glad not everything in Pasadena is overpriced. The variety was actually pretty good, lots of different mixes of fish and filling. Oh, and they sell fish tacos? weIrD.

The boyfriend and I have been joking about trying this place for a while. They serve sushi and tacos… Just like in Turbo! Anyway, after we sat down and ordered we started reading other reviews for this place and got nervous about the service/tipping. Our service was great though! Our server was very attentive and polite, and we didn’t have any issues with the order coming out wrong or taking a long time. We got our food really quickly and it was all delicious. We tried the jalapeño/spicy tuna appetizer and both loved it. We also had a California roll, spicy tuna roll, lobster taco, and fish taco and all were great. The price was on point, the food was tasty, and the service was perfect. I’d definitely go back!

$ 2 for sushi! Can you believe that? It’s almost too good to be true… but in a way, it is. I say this because their portions are much smaller. They do offer a lot of different items for only $ 2, so you can appreciate that! The quality is average, its not as great as other Japanese restaurants, but I won’t complain about that because at the end of the day, I only paid a total of $ 6(plus tax) for 3 rolls! That’s a great deal. I’ve only ordered 2 different rolls here, so far. This includes the California Roll(8 pieces for $ 2) and the Spicy Tuna Roll(8 pieces for $ 2). As I mentioned before, the rolls are average. They can be compared to Sushi Stop that’s just down the street. The difference between the two is the price and quantity. At Sushi Stop, you can also get California Roll or any other non-specialty roll for $ 2.75. Also, the size of the rolls at Sushi Stop are a little bigger, but not that much bigger. There are other items on the menu that are $ 2, some include 8 pieces in a roll and some include 2 or 4 pieces. Overall, not a bad deal. For a meal where I am not trying to overly stuff myself, I’d order 2 rolls or 16 pieces. Here at Tenno Sushi, I had to order 3 rolls or 24 pieces to be full… not insanely stuffed. The set up is different from other Japanese places I’ve been to. Here at Tenno Sushi, you walk up to the cashier, place your order, and sit down for your number to be called. They will bring your dish to you if you wave at them when they call out your number. Water and is self-serve and it’s located at the back of the restaurant. They also have several televisions plastered against the wall for you to be entertained. Overall, it is not a bad place to have some cheap sushi. It’s not grade A quality, but its great for what you’re paying. I’d like to give them 3.5 stars. I think they make a very good effort in giving you a satisfying meal. I recommend, just order more to be full!

This place is a hidden gem! Don’t let the appearance fool you. It’s definitely a spot I would keep walking by, however I’m glad we tried it out, because this has become my favorite Pasadena Sushi Spot! They have DELICIOUS rolls for $ 2 and $ 2.75 I love that we can choose more rolls rather than having to settle on 3 rolls. Shrimp Avocado has become my favorite here! Along with the Dragon Roll and Caterpillar Roll. Why not give it a 5-star? The first time I came was with a big group and we were there for a while eating and drinking. The service was great mostly, but did have to flag down waiters for items The other times it was been Sushi Dates, in which the service just seems to drop. I know being on a date means enjoying 1 on 1 time together, but we’re here to eat. I had to flag down other employees just to get plates and napkins and the Edamame and Soup that hadn’t came until AFTER the food. Although that was annoying, I definitely love the food and it’s a quiet and nice location. Definitely a must try spot, just be sure to have some patience in case the Service sucks.

3.5 This is one of those places that you seem to pass by all the time, but not really remember until you actually go inside. I’ve had no expectations from here, so I found this place very acceptable. FOODQUALITY: California roll, fresh water eel handroll, salmon sashimi, and eel caliifornia roll. Sushi rice was ample and texture soft and fresh, flavors very lightly flavored; however the flavors of the rice were completely overrun with the imitation crab meat and the heavy dose of mayo they mix it with, so all you could taste is sweetness. Salmon sashimi was fresh, but the cut wasn’t the best as the salmon didn’t necessarily melt in your mouth. SERVICE: Service was nice and kind, but a little confusing. We came in a large group, and so the waitress had agreed to divide our orders up by the table we were sitting at – basically giving one order paper per table — only to have all of the orders being delivered to one table just because it was the closest. ENVIRONMENT: It’s a little dark and a little loud in here, but the seating is generally comfortable: wooden booth and wooden chairs. Expect to wait if you’re coming at a rush hour because there’s not that much seating available. Overall, I think this place is A-OK. Good service, and decent food — but you’re bound to fill your belly happily with what you’re paying.

My mom and I came across this place while visiting Pasadena, It seemed to be to good to be true but we gave it a try. I ordered two fresh eel hand rolls, one spicy tuna hand roll, two tempura shrimp hand rolls, and chicken teriyaki bowl for me and my two kids. It was plenty of food to share and the hand rolls were a decent size, I did not feel it was small or skimpy just because it was $ 2.

This is one of those places that initially seeing how low priced their sushi is makes you think it’ll be a dump but once you give it a chance you’ll realize that you’ve found a hidden gem. Sushi here is 3 – 4 stars depending on what you get. Their basic rolls are simple enough that their enjoyable especially for the cheap pricing, some of their fancier rolls just can’t compare so I dock them down another star. I’d say that for the price the sushi is good but definitely not fine dining or the best sushi in town. Their drink specials here are great! 99 cent saki bombs!!! How can you beat that?! You can’t! Also most beers are around $ 2 so this is definitely the place to grab a few drinks before you hit the town. The staff here is hit or miss, some servers are consistently great & a couple ruin it every now and again by being forgetful or not bringing your food out right away so it gets cold. Again, for a cheap drink I can get over the bad servers and when the good ones are there that’s when we get more food knowing that their probably won’t be any issues. I’d say give this place a try for some decent cheap rolls & beer.

No offense or anything but I was kind of disappointed. Probably because it was super hyped up right before I got here. I’d be lying if I said I thought it was awesome. Because I thought it was… how you sayyy… meh. I most likely wont be coming back and I’m in Old Town a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the time I spent here because I was with great company, but reviews are supposed to be unbiased, right?! ;) Back to my review. It was aight.

Order too much tonight: Freshwater eel, 2BSCR(too much so have to take out), Lobster roll(to go again), Fire dragon roll(very spicy & good!), And BBQ ribs(this was the heaviest). My bill came up to $ 25, not too bad. Next time I know to order less!!! Seating is crowded which doesn’t allow for privacy, not my kind of ambiance.

I’ve been here a few times for lunch and surprisingly the food has been quite enjoyable. Located on east edge of old town Pasadena, it offers Japanese and Mexican inspired dishes like grilled seafood, tacos and sushi at reasonable prices. The food reminds me so much of the seafood eatery«Fish Dish» and sushi joint combined with a more fast casual dining theme. Atmosphere is cozy, clean and laid-back with plenty of seating available, including a few high tables and bar stools in the front that’s surrounded by 3 flat screen TVs. Menu offering is quite extensive, including daily lunch and sushi specials. The complimentary salsa bar in the back is well stocked, fresh and a great option to standard salt and pepper or hot sauce for flavoring. Although I’ve yet to try their sushi, their grilled fish items especially the mahi mahi and salmon have been superb. Both are fresh, well seasoned and grilled to perfection. You can get that seasoned Cajun style or with garlic butter which are both excellent. Accompanied with rice, salad and drink, it makes an excellent meal and cost about $ 8. Portions are generous… I actually got 2 huge pieces of fish with my order. Service was prompt and friendly. My order arrived reasonably quick. A great place to enjoy healthy and inexpensive meal without breaking your wallet. Looking forward to trying their happy hour and sushi.

**3.5 stars for Tenno Sushi** I went here on a Monday night with a friend to try out their happy hour. They have really cheap beer – I got a Heineken for $ 3! I ordered one of their specialty rolls and Philadelphia roll. Both were pretty good considering the low prices($ 8 and $ 5). The service was good too. If you’re looking for inexpensive, above average sushi, I would definitely try this place. I wouldn’t mind coming back during a happy hour. The good thing is they have much more than sushi – seafood burritos, tacos, etc. so if you’re not feeling sushi that’s always an option.
