I was overdue for a haircut and I was traveling for business; finished work a little earlier than usual and decided to research hair salons. I am pretty particular of who I trust with my hair, but my hair needed some serious TLC(crackhead, crispy-dead hair status)…I came across Scissors, rock, paper and read about Anna Marie’s work – I called and right away, I was greeted by Natalie on the phone. She kindly took my information down and told me she would call me right back regarding Anna Marie’s availability. She returned my call in a matter of minutes to tell me Anna Marie would take me at 2pm – I was thrilled. It is not very typical to get a same day appointment, so I was very pleased that Anna Marie made the time to squeeze me in. I showed up for my appointment and was greeted by Ms. Anna Marie herself – very nice, professional and clearly experienced. We sat down and discussed what I wanted to do. Again, very professional, offered some suggestions and helped me ‘visualize’ or put into perception what I was asking for lol – clearly, I had no idea of what I was asking for lol… as I was showing her a short haircut and I was asking her to help me keep length but still cut it(I can be the annoying, indecisive client) She did an excellent job! She did exactly what I asked for, was super pleasant the entire time – it was just a great experience. I highly recommend ms. Anna Marie. I’m sad I won’t be able to come to her ALL the time, being that the distance between my casa and her salon is quite a bit, BUT I hope to return to visit her next time I do business in Chino, CA :-) Thank you so much, Anna Marie!

Marie always takes really good care of me. I’m very fussy about my hair, since I’m also a hairdresser. I met Marie working together at her previous salon and since the first time she cut my hair I knew that I couldn’t go to anyone else, it’s been a great 3 years of getting to know her and also wearing her fabulous haircuts on my head. Thank you xo

My 3 year-old daughter got her first haircut by Frine and she did an amazing job! She made my daughter feel very comfortable and her hair cut came out so cute. We both love it! She even put some glitter in it at the end, which of course my daughter was super excited about. I’m planning on going back soon to have Frine cut my hair too!

I woke up yesterday and decided that I had it with my hair! I live near Scissors Paper Rock and decided to go in blindly — no stylist referrals, no pictures, nada. Was lucky enough to get a same day appointment with Celeste. She is super sweet and down to earth. She listened patiently while I ranted about my hair, being bored with it, wanting something new, but not too dramatic, yada yada yada. Celeste ended up giving me the perfect haircut! Entire appointment was about an hour, which I was grateful for since I had a busy afternoon ahead of me. Day two hair is still holding up and I love it! Found my new stylist and salon!!!

This review is for frinè! She is the absolute best! I will follow this amazing woman wherever she goes! She gave my mom the best haircut and color of her life. My mom has verrrry thin and fine hair and frinè managed to work a miracle on her mane. Thank you so much frinè! You’re the best :-)

I lived in LA for 7 years before I finally found a place I could go to consistently for hair cuts, and this salon is it. I found out about Yolande from other Unilocal reviews, and they were right. She’s absolutely amazing with scissors, and the cut generally lasts a good 10 weeks. I also love Celeste and Mallory. Even though it’s a chic salon, they are great cutting my young daughters’ hair. The only downside is that you have to plan ahead because there is rarely a day-of spot available.

I’ve been coming to Scissors for over a year and this review is WAY overdue! Since coming to this salon and having Yolande as my hair stylist, my hair quality has been vastly improved. She takes such great care of my hair and color and I really enjoy Yolande and her team. I am always welcomed and walk out feeling so confident! I am very grateful to finally find a stylist and salon that works to improve my hair and produce exactly what I’m looking for.

I am a bottle-blonde, I needed a bleach touch-up originally! I also wanted to tone my hair a bit cooler. I was afraid to let someone new do my hair but Frinè took care of it better than anyone that I had gone to before! She did an amazing job at knowing exactly what I wanted my hair to look like, exceeded my expectations! One of the nicest and funniest people you’ll ever speak to! Everyone in the salon was very friendly, a really great, relaxing environment to be in especially when you’re feeling a bit nervous about how your hair to turn out(which will be fantastic, being done by any of these lovely ladies) :)

First time here, and I will definitely be back. Frine was my stylist, and she was just fantastic– I honestly haven’t been this happy with a haircut in years. I showed her a couple photos of the look I was going for, and she was spot on. Frine was super friendly and easy to talk to. After hopping from stylist to stylist for years, I think I’ve finally found a keeper!

I am in love with this place! I have short hair, and have always had short hair, and finding someone to cut it the way I like has always been a bit of a challenge. With a few pinterest inspiration pictures, Friné cut it perfectly. I am so happy. I liked my hair cut so much that I decided I could trust her with my sons first hair cut, who was growing a wild baby mullet. Again, she did a fantastic job, no more baby mullet, super cute kid cut. I would definitely recommend Friné as a great stylist and Scissor Paper Rock as great salon.

I loved it here! I’ve had my eye on this place since it moved here cause my nail place is a few doors down. I like my hair simple and low maintenance plus I love my natural hair color. I needed a new cut cause it’s been 6 months() since I cut it. So I called one day to ask a few questions because I work late during the week so I asked how late do they take appointments. Celeste was the one I spoke to and she informed me that they have late hours few days a week which is perfect for me. Anyway I booked my appointment and I let her know it was for cut and style since my birthday was the following day. I’m a creature of habit and for me to try a new place I was very nervous. But I walked in and Celeste was there and she took me back right away. I showed her the style I wanted and that’s all she needed. She knew exactly what I wanted without me telling her anything. I had mentioned I wanted side bangs and she knew exactly what style to better suite me. Celeste also made sure to give me volume(which I’m always lacking) by giving me layers and I couldnt have asked for a better stylist. She made me comfortable and she didn’t mind me babbling as she did my hair. When I left I was in awe of how great my hair came out and I’m so happy I decided to try a new place. Thanks Celeste!

I have refrained from leaving a review, but 3 months later I still find myself annoyed by my experience here. I showed up for my appointment and no one from the salon was there. It’s in a space that is shared with another salon so I awkwardly waited for my stylist, who was late. I had expected to see Mallory, i liked what I saw about her online and she seemed cool. Unfortunately, Yolande, the owner(and more expensive stylist), took her appointment. I just asked for a cut and color and during my quick consultation she casually asked if I wanted a glaze for the color too. I had no idea what this meant, but I found it meant another $ 45 being added to my total with really no apparent benefit. After my color she had her assistant wash my hair and then I sat in the chair with wet hair while she put extensions in someone else in the middle of my appointment. It appears it was a last minute thing she was accommodating, but it took so long that my hair was nearly dry when she got back to me. I told her I have issues with my curly hair and that the top layer is so heavy that it never really curls well. She said she could fix it but after the cut she started to style my hair. I asked for it curly so I could see how it would look and she started to curly my hair so huge and so old fashioned that I felt embarrassed about how I looked. I tried to get a couple of curls on the top to lay differently and then mentioned that it still felt like the top was too heavy to have the curls come out. She told me she had done it but I «messed it up» by touching it. I should have told her to fix it there, but I felt like she scolded me like a child and just wanted to leave. She then talked me into shampoo and conditioner that was nearly $ 50 and hasn’t done a single thing for my hair, nothing that she claimed it would. From the prices on her site I expected to pay around $ 105 for a cut and color but it was about $ 165 before the shampoo and conditioner and a WAY too generous tip. To top it off, my color faded in less than 2 weeks and the cut didn’t make my curls come out at all. Just felt like a waste of money and a terrible experience.

I had a really great experience getting my hair cut and styled by Friné! The salon recently moved close to my neighborhood, and I’m very glad they did! First, I like that you can book online and see each stylists schedule, and you get a text message confirming your appointment. The customer service at the salon was great. I didn’t have to wait at all, and I was immediately offered water and ushered to the back to put on a robe. Getting my hair shampooed and conditioned was really enjoyable… Friné massaged my scalp and put some delightfully tingly peppermint conditioner in my hair. I had brought a picture with me, and I explained to Friné what I was looking for… a shoulder length cut with subtle layers and long side bangs. I thought she did a great job, and is clearly very skilled with cutting layered styles. I also really liked the way she did my side bangs, which have been problematic in the past. She offered me some helpful tips on how to blow dry my hair and before she put any products in my hair was sure to check with me to make sure it was ok. Everything was great when I left the salon, and I thought the price was pretty reasonable compared to salons in the area. As I think often happens when you get your hair cut and styled by a professional, I realized a few days later that I just wasn’t up for maintaining the textured layers she’d cut in the back even though it had looked great when I left the salon. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t recreate the volume in my fine hair, and realized that the cut as it was was a little too high maintenance me. I debated whether or not to go back to the salon to see if she could change it for me, but decided in the end that I would be feel better if I did. And I am SO happy that I did! Friné was really understanding, and did the cut dry so I could make sure I was happy with it this time around. Then she offered to do a complimentary wash and blow dry for me. I had a really positive experience at Scissors Paper Rock, and I would highly recommend Friné!

***UPDATE*** I’m reposting my original review from August below, because Unilocal has not yet developed the brains(or brawn) to transport data when a business moves locations. But last night I got my second haircut from Friné, and it was, once again, spectacular. This woman knows hair! *** Today Friné gave me the best haircut of my life. Seriously. I was new to the salon – I’d heard great things but was mildly trepidatious, because a) entrusting a total stranger with sharp scissors is always kind of scary, and b) sometimes my stylists quietly judge me for my lack of makeup or the fact that I often go six months without a haircut.(Heaven forbid.) Not so with Friné. She was a dream – positive and absurdly talented, she«got» my no-frills style immediately. She was fast and efficient, and then took the extra time to give my hair the wind-blown«surf’s up» look I love. I could not have been more happy when I looked in the mirror. Booya! Who knew getting your hair cut could be FUN? Bonus points to Mallory, who offered us coffee, tea, or water upon entry and did a bang-up job blowing out mi madre’s hair. She made mom look like a movie star. Can’t remember the last time I felt so damn joyous leaving a salon. Thank you, Friné, and thank you, Scissors! See you in Bungalow Heaven soon… maybe this time before six months. ;)

I found this salon on Unilocal a few months ago on one of those, must– have– a– haircut– todayyyy– impulses. SO glad I did! Mallory is sweet, she listened to me describe what I wanted, and executed the cut better than I had imagined. I thought hm… that was so amazing, could she be just a one hit wonder? I went back last night for a even more drastic cut and nope! She nailed it! The whole salon is awesome, buzzing with chatty ladies, fun products, complimentary beverages, they’ve also got this cool vintage industrial vibe goin on. All nice plusses, but the sheer fact that I know I can go in, get pretty, and go without any haircut anxiety is enough to keep me coming! Thanks again Mallory!

I had a handful of different box colors in my hair. Thanks to Frine she managed to fix the mess I made and cut and styled my hair with long face framing bangs that I luv! I asked her if there was anything she could do with all my bulky hair and she managed to make my head feel lbs lighter with the cut she did! I feel pampered and spoiled everytime I visit her, with the amount of hair I grow it’s not an easy feat to be my stylist but Frine always makes my hair(and me) look and feel absolutely beautiful! I love my beautiful color and highlights, I was totally amazed at how she got all the black and browns in my hair to disappear. I love her work! #miracleworker This new location has easier and available parking available and a cute coffee shop next door. Everyone there is always so friendly. I love the beauty boost and complimentary cappuccinos every time I visit!

If you’re looking for a stylist to give your hair life again, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Scissors Paper Rock, you’ll find Kim, a veteran in the business but new to the crew! I walked into the salon and was greeted with smiles and the ambiance of peace. After being offered beverages and reading material, I was immediately taken to the bowl to start the cleansing process. Marquis @TheHairProfit, a licensed stylist, played the role of assistant for the day. His wash technique had me asking myself why had I waited four years to step inside of a salon! He took his time making sure to carefully detangle my strands and blew out my hair with a gentle touch. That was a golden moment. Especially for us curly girls who are pretty particular with the amount of heat and force we apply to our hair. It was now my turn for Kim to get to work and create her magic. I decided to keep my length but I was looking to make a change with side swept bangs. After sharing pictures of interest, she snipped a little off and asked me to verify if this is the look I was going for. I appreciated her dialog, I felt like I was apart of the styling process. After much anticipation, I turned toward the mirror and could do nothing but smile. I was elated! She was able to turn my damaged locks into beautiful tresses! A huge Thank You to Kim, Marquis and the staff at Scissors Paper Rock. I would definitely recommend this place of business for men and women to relax and beautify themselves. Consultations available, parking is close and convenient and you’ll walk out feeling like a new you! Thank me later

I visited their old location once before they moved into this newer, bigger, and more convenient pace. This place has a super-friendly vibe, but I also love Friné’s professionalism: she’s very attentive, a great listener – and a master with those scissors and straight-razor! I’ll go back again and again: I know I’m in good hands.
