Love this pace. Lina is amazing, I wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone else.

I’ve been to a lot of salons, and some really nice ones, too. Orpheum is absolutely one of my favorites – and it houses my hair god, Yoshi.
First off, the salon. I’ve only been on week days during the day, and as result, the salon is pleasantly quiet. Even when there’s two other people there getting their hair cut, it never gets too noisy. They play a local alt/​indie radio station and, not that I necessarily have anything against top 40, I’d rather get my hair cut and read to Father John Misty than Katy Perry. It’s a nice change of pace. Just like Gary, the owner, Orpheum feels relaxed and cool and a little different.
Now, on to Yoshi. Yoshi cuts and colors hair like nobody I’ve ever seen before. (Not only that, but he’s really fun to talk to.) I don’t think I’ve seen a single human being be so focused on perfection and natural results. My hair was unfortunately ruined by another stylist about a year ago who fried it with bleach, and Yoshi is perfectly able to work around this. He did the best foil job I’ve ever had, weaving light brown through my blonde to give it dimension to the point that people think it’s completely natural.
And his cutting! Good lord! The cut took forever – but in a good way. It’s the best haircut I’ve had in my life. I’ve had a lot of breakage because of the aforementioned bleaching, resulting in wispy-​thin ends, split ends, and weird layers. After Yoshi was done (literally cutting individual strands at certain points), it was the first time in a year that I actually felt like my hair was HAIR. I got done and actually felt like I had underpaid for the haircut, given how great it was.
I’d grown my hair out from a super-​short pixie and as soon as it was long enough, it was ruined, which like, okay yeah I get it it’s just hair big deal, but at the same time, I’ve been really disappointed. To have somebody make me feel like my hair is «normal» again is huge.

Lina is the absolute best. From her personality to the way she massages your head when she’s conditioning it to the way she just owns the flat iron. Its a bummer we are moving away to SF. She is my absolute go-​to when we are back in the area.

Lina is the best! Highlights, balayage, reds and coppers, color correction, Lina always gets its right! She is also really amazing with styling and cuts. She gives the best blow dry I have ever had. This is a great Aveda salon, really cute and relaxing vibe. Great part of Pasadena and easy to park. If you’re looking for a super talented stylist who listens Lina is your girl.

Lina rocks! She moved from the Glendale Aveda to this location and I’m so happy to still be able to have her cutting my hair AND to keep using the aveda products. This salon is cute, clean and not as busy so it’s more relaxing. It’s right across the street from a bagel store… that was a huge plus for me while I was pregnant!

I came to this salon since my favorite stylist, Lina, relocated her services here. She is so amazing, I drove from the far west valley to have my hair cut by her! I asked for a shoulder length cut with soft layers, and she did a superb job. Lina also is one of the few stylists I’ve had who never cuts off more hair than you ask her to. The salon itself was very nice, I love Aveda salons. They had a cute window seat waiting area and I was greeted by several employees as I entered. They have a nice selection of Aveda products if you are in need of any. Parking was also easy just south of the salon on Lake. Thank you again for such a lovely haircut Lina! :)

Melanie has been called a hair wizard in the past. This is not hyperbole. Nor is it inaccurate. Let me explain.
On Melanie’s 11^th birthday, at the stroke of midnight, she was visited by a boisterous half-​giant named Hairgrid. Hairgrid took Melanie to buy her first pair of scissors (they choose YOU, you know), and thus began a seven-​year journey that turned Melanie into the hair wizard she is today.
Truly she is the Girl Who Shaved (other people, their heads, and only upon request).

This place is so unprofessional, called me the last minute to cancel on me, not just once or two weeks in a row, half hour before I stepped out to head to them! Who does that!!! Not sure if my stylish has any personal issue with me. Felt like 2^nd class citizen, this place served mostly Caucasian. I was bummed, it totally wrecked my whole weekend, too much hassle to find another stylist on the last minute notice. Planning a holiday trip, I am running out of time.
I was desperate to get my hair done, I ended up heading there anyway, another stylist did my hair color, I specifically said no red tone, still pulling red auburn. She didn’t even show me the hair strand sampler and asked how I wanted my hair color to be. She went to the back and whipped up a bowl of color, had no idea what she picked. I showed her couple of pixs with golden brown ombré, sun kissed affect. She dyed my hair medium brown to cover the grey. Big chunk of my grey are still not covered completely! Brown color will pulled red, gosh not a happy camper! Now my hair looked crappy with old faded brassy copper tone, auburn shade on top, yaik! Bye bye my nice golden caramel highlight. Worse mistake of my life! Sloppy work, this peeps need to go back to school. Thanks for wrecking my hair!!!

I’ve had two experiences here. The first time, I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the salon and think it’s a very adorable little place. I don’t remember the name of the stylist I had booked an appointment with (it may have been Vanessa), but she did a good job with my hair. Naturally, a few months later, I decided to come back. However, the day that i went, Vanessa wasn’t available and I had made an appointment with one of the newer girls (I think she had been there for about 2 – 3 months). Although she was very nice, she did a terrible job with my hair. All I asked for was layers and to chop off maybe 1 – 2 inches. When I finally saw the end result, I was mortified. There were absolutely NO LAYERS at all. It was as if she just used a ruler and cut my hair straight across. I was very disappointed, but she did apologize for not clarifying what I wanted exactly. I mean… layers vs. straight edge all the way across… I’ve never had a problem with Vanessa nor with any other stylist when it came to «layers» in my hair. She did offer to let me come back to have it cut correctly at a later time for free, but she had already cut off too much for me to come back a week later. Overall, this really spoiled the taste I had for Orpheum during my first visit. :(

I love this salon and that says a lot because I am aware of how picky I am when it comes to my hair and hair stylists. I completely lucked out about 2 ½ years ago when I moved to Pasadena and decided to try out the Orpheum Salon for a cut (trim really) and full color. I was scheduled with Melanie and have continued to get my hair done by her since. She is amazing when it comes to cutting and coloring and I could not recommend her more.
As for parking I noticed some reviews complaining about the street parking. I’m not sure how long the parking at the bank next door has been going on, but I have never had trouble parking there. The receptionist validates your parking and you are in and out with no problem.

I’ve been getting my hair cut and highlighted by Vanessa for many years (7 – 8). She always makes me feel like a million bucks! She is not only a top-​notch stylist, but she makes getting my hair done a fun couple of hours. I never fail to receive compliments on my hair after a trip to see her. I trust her opinion and to try new things with my hair. I’ve never left her feeling disappointed with my hair.
The salon itself is adorable. The location is great. I originally started going here because it was within walking distance from my house, but now that I have moved to Glendale, I don’t mind making the drive. Parking is always very easy to find. The entire staff is very friendly and professional.
Prior to discovering Orpheum and Vanessa, I was salon hopping and rootless. I’ve found what I like and I am sticking to it!

Melanie is a hair wizard!!! Seriously. My hair does NOT grow. I think it just reached its quitting point and gave up. I went to see Melanie and explained to her my predicament. I want long hair. Its just not possible. (Side note, my hair is really dry and unmanageable.)
She worked her hair magic, and I swear to you, within a month after my cut, my hair grew like 4 inches!!! She has the magic touch!!! And to boot, my hair felt super healthy and actually BEHAVED! She tamed it into submission!
If i could give this place 6 stars, I would. THANK YOU MELANIE AND ORPHEUM SALON!

I was really excited that Regina who has cut my hair for years was coming to this cool little salon. I work on South Lake so it is easy to walk over — though they told me they validate parking next door as well. I was offered a drink — everyone in the place seemed friendly. It was a great first experience.
* Great for a guy hair cut. Though not many other guys there when I was there.
* Use Aveda products so no strange chemicals lathered on your head
* Price was reasonable ($ 45)
* Highly recommend Regina — who is new here — but has seen me through thick and now thin with my hair — literally.

I came here on a referral to see Molly, I have had two haircuts now and am very happy. She takes the time to make sure that it is very even and doesn’t take too much off. I am in the process of growing out my natural hair color and my next visit will include some way to blend it a little better so that I don’t look ridiculous…
I have wavy hair and like to wear it in different ways and the way she cuts it I am able to put together all my looks with ease.

Other stylists and the receptionists are all very nice people, I’m really glad to find this salon in the neighborhood. It is a Aveda salon and they also sell a lot their products too from full to traveling sizes.
Look for the red door across from fresh and easy/peet’s. Be sure to rsvp before u go as I don’t think they take walk-​ins.

Completely inconsistent.
The first time I went to Vanessa I got one of the better haircuts I have ever had, so of course I booked her again a day before a huge social event. WORST MISTAKE EVER! She completely butchered my hair and there was no time to go elsewhere to fix it! First off I specifically told her to take only an inch or less off of my length because I like my hair long. I got a shoulder length cut (3 – 4 inches shorter than I requested!) that was really heavy on the top layer making me look absolutely ridiculous. Not only was my upcoming event ruined but it took several months for the top layer to grow out long enough to fix.

Molly takes care of my curly hair. She is the best! I get compliments on my hair almost daily.
If only I could harvest it for other people. :)

This is an beautiful little salon nested in a sweet pocket of Pasadena. Very much worth the drive from Silverlake or Hollywood if you are looking for a top notch stylist who gets what you are looking for. Her name is Allison. WOW. I am so happy I found a stylist who listens– and has mad skills!
She is very easy to talk to and actually hears every word you are saying. Simply awesome. She is brilliant with color – done! I started going here recently after I just had to make a change from a Hollywood stylist. I am glad I trusted the other Unilocal I found and went here. Just go. You will get expert service in a cozy Aveda Salon, at very reasonable prices. Ask for Allison, you will be very happy :)

My regular stylist, made a career transition some months ago and I was a little apprehensive because she was very good and I did not really want to start with somebody new.
However, before she left, she did me the great favor of recommending Melanie at Orpheum Salon. I believe she is as good– or better than my former stylist, plus she is an incredible babe, which doesn’t hurt, either.
I have a standing appointment every two weeks, short cut, and Melanie keeps me looking neat and my best.
My requirements are basic, just the cut, but Orpheum is a full service salon, offering a wide array of services.
Parking is fairly easy a little south of the salon on Lake, the place is beautiful, the atmosphere low key, relaxed and friendly.

Vanessa is SO GOOD!
I’ve kind of been in a hair rut for the past few weeks. I was always wearing my hair up, my shampoo and conditioner weren’t «working,» and I was pretty bored by my hair overall.
Vanessa changed all of that with a great scalp massage during the shampooing process, and with a simple haircut and blowdry. My hair looks and feels so much healthier than it has been lately. I absolutely LOVED how she blowdried it. My layers stood out with the most perfect flip/​curl at the ends. I will never be as good as her with a blowdryer, but after a few more haircuts with her, maybe I’ll be able to copy her technique.
She was friendly but not overly talkative. I enjoy that. Sometimes you just want to sit there and get your hair done! I think I found my new favorite salon!
OH! And she loves using her razor, so don’t be afraid to let her use it on your hair!
