Mr. Margarita

This review is based on their customer service. Sent email to inquire about renting a margarita machine and asked a couple questions, including pickup. Jill was kind enough (sarcasm) to reply and simply say I could only pickup in Pasadena and nothing else. She didn’t even bother to answer my questions or provide me with alternatives (such as delivery and the cost of it). I guess they make enough money already. Found a better company to rent a margarita machine from.

We rent a machine every year from Mr. Margarita for our family reunion. The machine worked great, the mix was great and the customer service was excellent! We will be renting again next year!

Rented a margarita machine for my retirement/​birthday party to be held Saturday evening. Picked up the machine Friday evening as instructed. Saturday at 1:00PM I prepared the margarita mix and poured into machine. Started it running. After a few minutes the compressor kicked on to begin freezing. Two minutes later the compressor quit. Five minutes later it kicked back on but for only about 10 seconds and continued this cycling. The compressor was overheating. Also, the tank was leaking. Called at 1:30 and was told they would have another delivered in an hour. No problem as I had until 4:00 to pick up the BBQ and birthday cake — each at different locations. Went about setting up for the party.
One hour passed then another half. I called back and was told the driver had been given two to deliver. Mine was to be first but he went to the other location first — 30 minutes away making over an hour delay! Finally arrived at 3:30! And I still had running around to do before guests were to arrive at 6:30! Was told that if there was anything wrong with this machine they stop taking service calls at 6:30 but would refund me. A lot of good that would do me once the party started! Thankfully this one worked.
CONDITION OF MACHINES — Mr Margarita’s machines are old; really old! As you read, the 1^st one didn’t even work and was beat up. The 2^nd was also beat up and had its case held together with duct tape. Once the cooling system got warm, thick syrupy goo started dripping out the bottom of the machine. Made me wonder how well they actually «sanitize» the machines between uses.
SUPPLIES — 25 cups and straws were provided. But — instead of a sealable 5 gallon carboy for preparing the mix you get an open 5 gallon bucket. For one thing, it can’t be too sanitary and 2^nd it’s difficult to pour the mix in without creating a mess.
CONCLUSION — The margaritas were great but I’ll take credit for that by not using cheap ingredients. However, I do not recommend Mr Margarita for the machine rental and will use another business next time.
