First off the girl with the #BlueHair best server & super hot:):) #LoveTheTats. This is such a great place to hang out, great atmosphere. Not from the area so, everytime I come here for trivia night it’s fun:) despite the soar losers lol. I like this location better than Sierra Madre & old town Pasadena. Food is good too, Excellent choice a Pub that knows their stuff :))

This is my go to place for games and of course a good beer! Been coming here for years and like everything about the place. The food is good, beer is great and the staff and service is great. Most of the time i get Stephanie as my bartender because her service is awesome and she’s like an encyclopedia of beer. She definitely knows her stuff! Anyone looking for a good go to pub this is the place! Also lots of tv’s to watch from!

This place is fantastic! I work in the industry in San Diego and was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge behind the bar at this pub! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place for the cuisine(except for the thick-cut fries– my favorite!) but I’ll be back next time I’m in town. Thanks Stephanie for the chat and for taking care of us!

I have been to Lucky Baldwins(all three of them) and this spot is usually my go to. Especially when there is a good soccer game going on. The service has been ok, sometimes slow on big game days, but that is usually because they are packed, so completely understandable. This last time, my boyfriend and I went to watch the USA mens soccer game. We got there at 3:00, ordered food(fish and chips for the BF, and French Onion soup for me. The food was spot on. They have always been consistent with their food. Had a great time watching the game, our original bar tender was awesome, gave us some GREAT recommendations on some new beers, and was not disappointed. We got some great seats at the bar, Watched a great game. So…why only two stars??? One word. STEPHANIE. Our original amazing bar tender’s shift was over, we closed out our tab, and stayed a little longer to watch the highlights, and chat with another local who we had met. Stephanie completely ignored us. We had to call over another guy(had a long pony tail) to get us a couple of beers. Again, Completely ignored by Stephanie, the entire time we were there. What really pissed me off however, was when Stephanie complained to the couple sitting next to me at the bar about those«soccer people» and how they never order any food, maybe just an appetizer, and a couple beers and they leave and NEVER tip well. WTF?!? She said she hates waiting on soccer people, and that she tries not to work on days when there are games. UMM… does she know I just sat there and watched the soccer game? YUP, she sure did. Maybe the reason you get crappy tips, is because of your crappy attitude, and your crappy service of customers. We tipped our first waiter 25%. Stephanie, got a nasty note attached to my $ 31.61 dollar credit card bill, and I did tip her, even though she NEVER brought us one beer. We had to ask one of the other two guys to get them. I don’t mind it if it was busy, but there were a whopping four people at the bar, of which my boyfriend and I were part of the four, and she could not pour us one beer, and we were told how crappy we were as customers. Sorry. If Stephanie is working the next time I go, I will walk out. I don’t need to be insulted at a place that I am spending my hard earned money.

Good for: Beer selections. A Fun & Low-key setting. Conversations are struck up and fast friends are easily made at the bar. It’s an ideal place for a drink after work or a place to be with friends. The scene: Laidback locals from Pasadena. The place can liven up to a comfortable crowd level – full but not packed, lively but not too crazy for those who’ve left their twenties behind. Favorite Bartender: Reach out to Stephanie! She is awesome! So knowledgeable about EVERY beer. Tell her what you like and she will always recommend an awesome beer you’ll learn to LOVE.

I went to Lucky Baldwins to mainly try their shepherds pie, I’ve heard good things about it. I guess my expectations were too high. I thought it tasted like frozen food, it wasn’t entirely awful, but not what I was expecting either. Their overall ambiance is chill, I like that they are dog friendly, always a plus.

I come here twice a week most weeks. The beer selection is great, and you can often find new and creative brew during one of their many yearly events. The servers are friendly and prompt. The food is great, and reasonably priced compared with other Pasadena bars. My personal favorites are the Thai wings and the Fish n Chips. Also, come on, best parking of any bar in SGV by a mile.

Oh, Lucky’s…we know you were one of the first places to embrace the craft beer scene way back when, and we applaud you for that, but why does your food have to be so bland? I know. We’re mainly talking Brit food here. Pub Grub. But still, I can get a similar dish with more flavor at Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica and the beer selection is almost as good. I tried the Bangers and Mash. Classic Brit-Dish, but just no flavor going on. Best thing was the Mashed Potatoes were kind of lumpy, but I had to use hot sauce on everything just to get some form of seasoning going on. The stars are mainly for the beer selection and service. Food? You’re better off elsewhere. Especially now that Pasadena has plenty of great choices for craft beer… and excellent food.

As a veteran of Pasadena establishments, Lucky baldwins Trappists is the premium English pub and restaurant that I would choose to visit any night of the week. The expert staff is friendly beyond expectation and doesn’t hesitate to make wonderful selections for the guests. Stephanie is a treasure. She has a deep knowledge of their entire selection. Her service is amazing and I’m delighted whenever she is behind the bar. Friendly knowledgeable service is her forte. Josh and Ryan are also very amicable servers who really know their stuff. I love lucky baldwins and with expert staff such as Stephanie Josh and Ryan, I am excited to say that I will be a customer for life. I will be sure to ask all of my friends and family to visit one of the best pubs in LA with the most colorful selection of craft beers lucky baldwins!

This place is terrible. They claim to be a sports bar, but get upset when someone wants to root for their team. Service is terrible, no hospitality, I feel like everyone that works there hates to work there, except for one exception, the guy with longish hair, he’s great. Other than that, they want to be know as the quietest sports bar of all time. What sports fan doesn’t want to celebrate their team being in the championship. They may as well hang up a sign outside saying, «no loud noises, this is really not a sports bar» I’ll never go back.

I’ve been a loyal patron for over 3 yrs. At least once a week for trivia on Monday nights with a regular group of friends, and on other nights for birthdays and just general hanging out. Tonight, I had the worst experience at a bar I have ever had in my life. I was at the bar for trivia and was told that there was a new policy that everyone that had a seat had to order something. Fine. I told my server(David) that I had just had a big dinner and would order later. David would not leave me alone and harassed me to order. He was rude and very condescending, telling me that this was a «place of business» so I had to order. I told him for the 2nd and 3rd time that I understood the new policy and that I was going to order, just not at that moment. But David would not let up and insisted that I ordered right away. There were 5 of us at the table. The other 4 had already ordered food and drinks. In fact, some of the fast drinkers were already on their 2nd beers. Our table was ordering. I did not understand why David wouldn’t leave me alone and I did not understand why I had to order right away. He would not let up and was so pushy… I don’t know how to describe it other than as «harassment.» After the 4th time, I just had to leave. He made me so uncomfortable to be there. He basically told me to order now or leave. This is really upsetting because this was a bar I enjoyed coming to and was always bringing friends to. I’ve been here at least once a week for the past 3 years! Sadly, I will not be going back and my group will not be going back. It’s just too bad. *I forgot to mention the best part. Because David made me feel so uncomfortable, I did not want to talk directly to him. So I asked one of my friends to order for me and he did. But that didn’t stop David from approaching me yet again and demanding that I order something. So I guess the new policy is that everyone has to order something right away upon arrival and must order for themselves directly from their server. Either that’s the new policy or David is just a rude and aggressive server.

Don’t get excited about the Pliny coming in a pint, it’s served in a 8oz tulip. That must be a typo. Sadly, the $ 8 price for 8oz of beer isn’t. Not worth it. I’ll stick to Glendale Tap, Hermosillo, and BP.

Nice, friendly, neighborfood gathering place. They have a great selection of beers and are constantly changing out the numerous taps. Crowded and noisy at times, but that is to be expected. Students from the local colleges as well as professors like to stop in after night classes. Age of costumers can vary depending on the time and day. Food is bar food but a good selection. Would love it if the menu was given a little kick. There are some great pubs out there that will try a new take on English cuisine. Staff was attentive, given the crowded bar scene. Fish and Chips best value on the menu. Daily specials are nice.

The vegetarian hamburger is not good smelling or good tasting, the fries were not good at all because they tasted like cardboard. The happy hour is over at 6 which is a little inconvenient to the college students in the city to enjoy the hour until 7. Perhaps they could change that. The service was good, the people are friendly, but I just didn’t like my meal. They have a variable selection of beer, but no good deals for college students. It was a whack first experience and I’ll never go there again.

Really disappointed. The OTPas location has always been at the list if I needed a bar. A group(~25ppl) I’m in was interested doing a late weekly happy hour near PCC… so we figured Trappiste was an easy choice. After two visits, we’re looking for a new place. Both times, it wasn’t very busy(we were the largest group there). Same blue/blonde haired girl with glasses on bar. I was just ordering a water and she acted like I ruined her night with a non-sale. Last by night, she took the time to tell me that I need to order at my table with my server… when she could have easily just poured me a water. Otherwise, it’s a nice place to hang. Clean bar and awesome beer selection. Parking in the back.

My experiences here have prompted the need to update my review and my rating since my first visit in 2013. The fish and chips have been consistently crispy and cooked to perfection since my last review. This makes me believe that my first experience may have been an anomaly. Service is always friendly. My recent experience with Ryan really pushed me to write this update. He was so genuinely friendly and attentive.

EDIT12÷21÷15: Okay, so my arm was twisted when one of my friends from our archery group suggested we give it a try again. A group of about 6 of us went back to LB Trappiste again this past Saturday to give it another chance, and when we walked in, I immediately began to regret the decision to give it another try, because we saw that the same guy who gave us terrible service and attitude was still employed there. Fortunately, we seated ourselves at a table in the section served by the same blonde waitress from the last time we visited,(who took over and rescued our table from the horrendous service we had been experiencing last time from two other male waiters there). Tatiana walked up to our table and introduced herself. She’s nice, smart, and is an attentive waiter/bartender, and we were glad to have her serve our table. She took great care of our table/group, and had a great attitude. She checked on us regularly, and our drinks and food all arrived without delay. So, I am updating my review to reflect that Tatiana, along with the woman from Jersey(sorry I haven’t learned your name yet) and I imagine at least some other waiters and bartenders there, clearly do care about giving people good service, and I do want to recognize that. I am going to upgrade my star rating because my opinion can change, just as conditions at establishments can. My friends and I will come back and hopefully continue to experience good service in the future, as we did this past Saturday. As long as we do, we will, of course, be more and more inclined to make it our regular destination once again on Saturdays and Sundays, after spending our mornings at the archery range. As a side note, I wrote my previous review after quite a few bad experiences in service at this establishment over the course of several months, so I am going to hold off giving it 5 stars for now, until our number of good experiences in a row eclipses the bad ones. Having said that, as far as an individual experience, I would rate our visit this past Saturday as rating 5 stars for service from Tatiana, and the quality of food and drink was also very good. For now, I’ll raise my review rating to 3 stars from 1. Let’s see how the next few months go. My original review from 11÷21÷15: Honestly, I am quite disappointed in how this bar/restaurant has gone downhill. It’s been my neighborhood bar since it opened, and I have been here countless times. I, along with a group of archers come here nearly every weekend after Saturday and Sunday sessions, but as a group, we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. I may give it a try again at some point to see if things improve, simply because it is in my neighborhood, but there will have to be a radical turnaround for me and my friends to choose to come here again on a regular basis. My issue is that the service is incredibly slow and often quite rude lately. I’m not even talking about when the bar is busy, because at least then there is an excuse for the slow service. There’s never an excuse for rude service, as far as I am concerned. I am writing this review as I am sitting here finishing my beer with my friends. I hope the owner reads this and deals with the problem. The guy who worked there today, Saturday, with the balding head is rude and couldn’t be bothered with checking on his tables. When we finally flagged him down, he dismissed our table, saying he was only helping out by covering some other guy, and walked away without taking our order, or mentioning anything to any other servers. Eventually, the young blond woman who also worked there today, came by to take over our table. She said she understood the problem, and would take over and give us good service. She kept her word, and took extra care of our table from that point on. I wish all of the servers at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste were all like her. There is one other woman, who is from New Jersey, who works there occasionally, and she’s always been a great server too. That other guy needs to be fired. If I owned a restaurant/bar, and he was one of my employees, he’d be gone a long time ago.

Great service. Went on a Friday night, but it wasn’t too crowded. We sat down at a table but didn’t have any food, just drinks. We ordered several drinks and the waiter brought it out quickly. i’m curious to go back and try the food now. Drinks prices aren’t bad at all either. We got away with spending very little. This place is always going to hold a special place in my heart as it was where I found out I passed the bar. It has a fairly large rotating list of beer on tap and a decent food menu. I can’t say much to the food, which is less gastropub and more«bar food.» There are sometimes issues with service as there’s typically only one or two people serving the entire bar. There’s also trivia every Monday night from 9pm –11pm. The winning team gets a… $ 20? Gift card for the bar? But lets get real, it’s about beating the team that wins every week.

I’ve now been to all 3 Lucky Baldwins I the SGV and this is by far and away my favorite… pretty low key with a great draft beer selection including some great stouts …(Youngs Double Chocolate stout is amazing!) … Ordered food here for the first time at this location and found it pretty much in line with most British pubs in LA… still only one champ in my mind for Fish and chips in LA and that’s the Hot Red Bus because they use real English potatoes which always takes me back to London… but I digress! Trappiste is no doubt a winner in my book if not for the wonderful beer selection, pub feel, and honest pub style food… go…if you like beer in a chill atmosphere you won’t be disappointed…,

Food is bad! Kitchen is a joke. Maybe their chef didn’t come to work today. It takes them 20 min after we put in the order to realize they don’t have Mahi Mahi. My friend substituted with salmon burger according to the waitress’ recommendation. 5 min later, he was told again salmon is out too. Starters Loaded chips: a sour cream soup with big chunk of tomatoes. Chips are randomly scattered in the soup. The result: mushy chips Chicken tender: dry Entrées French dip sandwich: meat is old and dry. Burger: Frozen patty. No flavor. Chicken Caesar salad: nothing special One of the beer we asked for is on tap, but apparently no one changes the keg so the bartender couldn’t pour us one. Not worth the price! It’s such a shame because it’s in my neighborhood. I can really use a good British pub.

Had a really fun night at this busy pub, it was quiz night! At first we didn’t think we’d play but we ended up staying for all five rounds. I highly recommend it. The bar was hopped and full of energy. My friend and I shared a large fish and chips and had two small salads. The fish and chips were good and the salad was fresh and crisp. The menu is pretty traditional British pub and the beer menu is extensive, with a heavy emphasis on Belgian beer. I love the one I chose. Would definitely come back.

I used to come here for Monday night trivia with my friends :) The fun and games start at 9:00PM sharp! I’ve never actually tried any of their entrees since I usually eat dinner beforehand so this review is mostly for their appetizers and the trivia nights. The loaded crisps(aka cheese fries) come HOT. I’m a huge fan of steak fries so I find this a great starter to share. As for their chicken tenders I thought they were just okay. Fried a little too crispy/crunchy for my taste. You can only get one dipping sauce to go with it too, which kinda sucks. Out of all the starters I’ve tried my favorite is definitely the smoked salmon lox. This comes with cream cheese, sliced tomatoes, and bread. Seriously you can never go wrong with anything smoked salmon :) Trivia nights are always great fun with friends! I’d definitely bring at least 3 – 4 people to play(but the more the merrier!). Questions range from pop culture(old and new) to history and geography and more, which is actually quite unfortunate for my group of friends since most of us majored in science or engineering… haha… Winners get a gift card to Lucky Baldwin’s! If you’re playing to win your best shot is to bring friends who travel often and watch a lot of TV, and your grandmothers.

In my 20s, my buddies and I spent just about every Thursday at LB’s in Old Town… And Fridays. And Saturdays. And an errant Tuesday now and again… It was a pub where everybody knew your name, and Tom at the bar was a friend of mine, who occasionally got me(some of) my drinks for free. My brothers and I had a band, and we played there a few times for drinks and giggles… There was no stage, but it was fun. Fast forward 15 years. I’ve got a bride, three kids, a real job, and a few more clicks on the liver-odometer. So visiting the Lucky Baldwin’s on Colorado across from the ghosts of the old Pac Man arcade is part nostalgia, and part reality: it’s reminiscent of a simpler time into life, but with more organization. Quaint seating complements the pub-style bar. It’s dark and it seems smoky, although the Kingdom of Pasadena would never allow smoking in a bar. The beer selection is extensive, and well communicated on big paper menus and via a friendly wait staff. Currently, they’re having a «keep the glass» Oktoberfest event. Large flat screens round out the entertainment. You get older, but you don’t gotta grow up. I’m reminded of that when I come here.

2014 Unilocal365CHALLENGE — 228⁄365 Stopped by for lunch, not busy, good service, but the fish and chips was just OK. Not the best I’ve had. Also, I ordered the large portion(2 pieces) and I got the small portion(1 piece). Not a biggie, didn’t even mention it to the waitress again. But the french fries were nothing special and it came with peas that were… like peas. I ordered a Red Ale that was advertised since I had never tried one before and it was delicious. Light and sweet with a little bit of spice.
