Beware of this company. I normally do not write reviews but just had such an awful experience I feel compelled to warn others. Three years ago my mom bought a Hunter Douglas shade(over $ 1000) from Fantastic Windows. Within that time period the cord broke twice. When she called the first time(January 2011) to tell them of the problem they gave her a hard time but came out to fix it. The cord just broke again yesterday and when she called to tell them that something must be wrong with the shade she spoke with a receptionist who was very nasty. When I called back to try and resolve the problem I spoke with Fred, the owner, who must have trained the receptionist on how to be nasty to customers because he was even worse. He told me that the reason the cord broke was because of «user error» and«something going on in that household». When I told him that my mom knows how to use the EZ cord lever he asked me if I «stood over her every time she pulled on the cord because if not, then I do not know». He never once considered the idea that there was a problem. Seriously, does he think my 81 year-old mother was using the cord to rappel across the window? After this conversation I called the Hunter Douglas company and they informed me that the shade could in fact be defective or the installment was simply not done properly and suggested that I contact another HD rep in the area. When I called the other HD rep they were super pleasant even though they were not the ones who initially installed the shade.
