I love going to The Art Of Shave at the garden State Plaza for a traditional shave. Ozzie is than the man there. Not only is the staff curious and always ready to help you when needed but Ozzie does such s wonderful job trimming my beard I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else when I need to look my best.

Got a gift certificate for my birthday for a head shave and royal shave. Ozzie is the man, he’ll hook you up! Best shave I’ve had in a long time. Hot towel, shaving cream, the works. Because I didn’t have to pay for it, it was great. I saw the price list and it was a bit pricey but nowadays, this a premium service, so expect to pay for some great service and shave.

I got my father a shave as a Christmas gift, and he called to make an appointment for today, at 4:30p. We received a call yesterday to confirm the appointment and the woman on the phone said it was at 6:30p. My dad was not at home at the time, but when he called back later, the woman on the phone told him that the appointment WAS at 4:30p. Now he is AT the Art of Shaving, and he was told that the appointment is actually at 4:45. I know this is only a fifteen minute difference, but he has tickets to a concert tonight in the city and the fifteen minutes is going to make a difference in being able to make it in time. Especially considering the amount of time it takes to GET to Garden State Plaza, as well as back in traffic around rush hour. I cannot believe how incompetent and clueless the workers are at this place, where getting a shave or using any of the products from this store is supposed to be about luxury. You would think that for the cost, service would be exceptional. And you would think that any place, no matter how upscale, would be able to get the time of an appointment correct.

I’d give no stars if I could. Scheduled an appointment on Wednesday 12⁄10 for an appointment today 12⁄12 at 4:30. Get a phone call from their receptionist 4 hours before my appointment claiming the barber is sick and they need reschedule me. Disappointing… But what is even more disappointing is how the Manager Pedro handled the situation. I asked wasn’t another barber present– Pedro advised that he was the only one that works there and there was nothing he could do. He expressed no empathy and basically did not care that I was inconvenienced. When asked what the company does for customers who get cancelled on he said NOTHING. He was very short with me. It would be nice as a customer who was inconvenienced to receive some type of special consideration, the fact is the personnel here did not care to make a bad situation better. Never again.

The prices are on the high side, but the service is incredible and the shave spa is otherworldly. I opted for the royal shave after a full no shave November beard had invaded my face. The barber was very skilled and kept me from freaking out while a razor was against my jugular. The various oils and moisturizers applied were also great and kept me from getting razor burn. The straight razor was also great and gave me the closest shave of my life. The whole procedure took about 40 minutes and was very relaxing. The only issue is that at this location, you are basically sitting out in the middle of the mall. You don’t notice the people walking by and watching, but you will later. The price was on the high side, but for an indulgence, I highly recommend it.

I am reviewing for my husband: I usually receive the«Royal Shave». Ozzie gives near perfect shave. I always make an appointment when I need to come in, and rarely have to wait. A truly relaxing and pleasurable experience. I highly recommend Ozzie if you like someone who takes their time at their craft. He is also easy to talk to and laid back.

A bad shave. I received a gift card as a present from my girlfriend for a «Royal Shave». I had been hinting at this for months, so when I got it I was fairly excited. I made an appointment and arrived 10 minutes early. The two female sales associates were very friendly and seemed knowledgeable regarding products and techniques. So far, I was pleased. My appointment time passed, and I waited an additional 20 minutes before I was able to sit for my shave. Not the end of the world by any means, delays happen, no big deal. Aroma therapy, facials, etc. All fine, but the shave, that was not. They sell brushes in that store that go up in price up to $ 250 dollars, claiming that the soft brush will exfoliate and make the hairs raise for a closer shave. My barber, used his hands to apply the shaving cream. The straight edge razor is supposedly a better shave for those with sensitive skin because it will remove less skin. My barber was like a butcher, just grinding the disposable blade into my skin taking layer after layer off. By the way, I do NOT have sensitive skin, he was a brute with a razor to my neck. After the shave, my skin felt terribly sensitive, but I assumed it was just the result of a really close shave. I gave a tip and went home. Upon arriving at home, my girlfriend immediately noticed I still have a 5 o’clock shadow no less than an hour after the shave. I examined the work more closely, under my lip and under my neck, STUBBLE! My sideburns, uneven by almost a full INCH! Those with full beards beware, you’ll look like an idiot when you leave. His position is listed as MASTERBARBER, but after losing more skin than hair, I would argue MASTERBARBARIAN. I called back to complain, they would only offer me another complimentary shave. I would have much rather purchased products instead of an inferior service, but they refused saying it was out of their hands. When I shave at home, my Gillette Fusion can get me baby smooth with no stubble or razor burn. In the end, my face hurts, my girlfriend feels terrible about the gift, and I don’t think I’ll be returning for the complimentary flaying.

Great shave and good haircut. the barber Angel is a nice guy and the shave was perfect. The haircut was good. I will go back there. The prices are higher than corner barber shops but the service warrants it.

I found myself at the art of shaving because I needed some conditioner for my Illinois strop, I normally shave with a straight razor. The conditioner cost 5 dollars generally. They charged me 12… that’s about the mark up on their products. Some of the items you can get cheaper online, but when you need something you’ll tend to just pay for it so you have it. As for their products quality, their pre-shave oils, shaving crèmes, and aftershave balms are amazing. Yes like I said they are expensive, but if you have the extra cash or search for their products online, they’re rather nice. For the shop itself though, the lady was somewhat helpful. Didnt seem to have the answers i was asking, regarding strop care, and they do sell strops and conditioner for them.
