Have seen better shows here and this review of 3 stars is because«nana’s nicker’s» was pretty silly and we were bored halfway through. Very silly, thin plot, young lead actress was way over the top and seemed to scream out her lines. Much like a college performance for most of the actors with the exception of one or two. The food was good, the service was great, the people are delightful and the seating was excellent. Nice roomy tables. All in all it was ok, and we will try another show in the future.

Love going to Rainbow! Especially on weekends with the new private seating and cooked to order menu. The new evening menu was flavorful, well prepared and our server was fantastic! The price was a really good value considering we got a full meal with dessert AND a show! I also ordered a «show drink» from the bar which was basically an alcoholic milkshake and boy was I glad I did! Although I did not have any that evening I was really impressed with wine list and bartenders knowledge about their selections. I will definitely be back. Maybe for one of their new 30 dollar Thursday eveninhs. Really looking forward to trying what they referred to as their«pub style» menu.

Last nights final performance of «Over the river and through the woods» was awesome. Our church group came from York, food was great, service outstanding, a wonderful evening!

Attended the Lighten Up(Thursday evening) performance of Too Many Cooks last night. This was our first time at the«new» theatre(now Rainbow’s Comedy Playhouse) so cannot compare to the past, but were certainly delighted with the current setup. The play was a fun farce. The seating was well laid out and allowed for couples only(as opposed to group tables only, although those were plentiful as well). The food was delicious and ample considering it’s billed as a light menu. The service from booking to arrival greeting and seating through drinks and meal serving was superb. We will definitely be back!

Went to see«Squabbles» last night. One of their best plays I’ve seen! Lots of laughs! I’d highly recommend this show!

Was just there 12÷26÷14. The food was absolutely terrible and the play was high school quality.

First time at the Rainbow Dinner Theatre. It is lots of fun – although a woman near us came in grouchy – that certainly doesn’t help. You have your choice of sitting at tables for 2 or tables for more. They served rolls, salad, and a buffet. I thought the food was just ok. I must say that they didn’t have tons of carbs, like many places have. They had a lot of meat, fish, chicken. There was a choice of cakes and ice for dessert. My husband would give it a better rating. You could order additional sides for additional money. Not a lot more money. The wait staff are the actors and actresses. What made it more entertaining is when you see your waiter on stage. The show was entertaing – not stomach hurting funny – but funny. The specialty drinks were fabulous and not very expensive. I tried two different ones – wanted to take the bartender home. When we’re back in Lancaster, will go again.

My wife and I went to the Rainbow Dinner Theatre for the first time this weekend for an impromptu evening watching«Drinking Habits». Dinner started with a nice salad before moving on the buffet. The buffet included chicken, salmon, eye-of-round roast and pasta. The food was decent, though nothing exceptional. I went back for seconds of everything except the potatoes, which were undercooked that evening. The play itself was funny and in the vein of «Nunsense». The cast was solid, and everyone could be heard clearly — something that not all performers and performance spaces can accomplish. Some good visual gags and physical humor — everything that we hoped it would be and not the train wreck I feared at the phrase«dinner theater». It’s not Broadway, but it’s not a high school performance either. We enjoyed our food(except the potatoes), laughed at the performance, and enjoyed conversation with the charming family that shared our table. We’d go again!

First… the shows. I don’t always enjoy one show as much as another, but overall I walk away pleased with the performance and feeling entertained. If I was expecting Broadway, that’s where I’d go… and for the most part I like this place better… not as much in the way of headaches getting to and from the theater… and the staff and management are as nice a group of people as you get! Second… the food. I’ll admit, I’m not as particular as most… and I’ve always enjoyed the meals… maybe not every selection every time, but I certainly never walked away hungry. And you can go back as often as your legs will carry you! And that includes dessert! It’s clean and comfortable… but keep in mind… you’ll be sitting for a couple of hours between the meal and the show! For the money, this is a nice evening out with my wife and some other friends. We always enjoy and recommend Rainbow!

WOW — didn’t realize this was still pending … awkward! This trip was much better — definitely better service and food than the last time I was here. Started with a salad at the table which consisted of lettuce, nuts peaches and strawberries. I forget what the dressing was but it was fresh and crisp despite its poor presentation. Since taste is all that really matters, this was great. All the fruit worked really well with the overall salad. I hit the buffet for some spinach lasagna. This was not«mom’s home cooking» by any means, but edible and enjoyable. I went back for seconds since I enjoyed it. I also had a piece of tilapia which tasted just OK — a bit fishy and some chicken which was very dry. There was also roast beef, which I passed on. For desert — I’m constantly hounding the Rainbow Theater management to serve peach iced cream like they did the first time I came, and this night they delivered! 2 scoops with some chocolate syrup — awesome! I also had a piece of pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream which was excellent. The service for this visit was awesome. Our server Patrick happily jumped through hoops. What a pleasant step up from the last time I was here when service was arrogant. As for the show, it was strange but made me laugh. The rest of my family didn’t care for it much but most of the humor was not-so-subtle sexual innuendo which got the job done. The story line was just OK — but overall the show was so much better than the last trainwreck we saw here. Glad to give this the 3 stars it deserves! I’ll be back the next time I’m in Lancaster and would overall recommend it — IF you have the right expectations.

My husband and I went to the Rainbow Dinner Theater in Paradise for a matinée showing of their play«Christmas in Paradise.» The tickets were $ 48 per person. I know it’s a meal and a play but it was incredibly overpriced. The meal was interesting to say the least. Notice that I didn’t use an adjective that is common to descriptions of food. It was set up as a buffet in the back of the theater and there were servers who scooped your food for you. The food for this particular show included sliced turkey breast, stuffing, gravy, some kind of broiled fish, instant mashed potatoes, sun-dried tomato ravioli in a herb cream sauce, peas with pearl onions, «beef wellington», roasted cauliflower and cranberry sauce. It doesn’t sound bad. It sounds like a decent day at Old Country Buffet, right? Except that the portions were miniscule. I was given two slices of turkey –lucky me– that were strangely triangular and about the size of a whole Dorito. The server explained that she gave me two because one broke. Woo hoo. The«Beef Wellington» was basically a very small overcooked piece of meatloaf in underdone puff pastry. It was ghastly. It was another weird triangle that was slightly bigger than the turkey. I did not eat the fish, nor the peas. I did try some of the cauliflower because, hey, I like cauliflower. Bad choice. I don’t know what they did to this poor veggie but it literally tasted like dirt. Also, for your $ 48 ticket price, your beverage options are water, unsweetened iced tea, hot tea or coffee. Soda is $ 1 extra. For dessert you could go to the ice cream freezer positioned at the side of the theater where a bored looking teenager in a Santa hat would scoop for you your choice of chocolate, vanilla, peppermint stick or sugar free butter pecan ice cream and you could squirt some Hershey’s chocolate syrup on it from the retail bottle perched on top of the freezer. Additionally, the server brought out baked desserts– a choice between pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate raspberry cake or cheesecake with a caramel or chocolate syrup drizzle. I had the pecan pie and it was passable. My husband had the chocolate cake and that was actually pretty good. Their website says«A fine dining, restaurant-quality menu and wine list.» This was not fine dining. This was elementary school cafeteria quality dining. Now on to the play. The theater itself is very large and reminded me both of the theaters where I’d seen shows in Las Vegas and also large non-denominational churches. The tables and chairs were packed very tightly and the house was full. It’s clean and has little in the way of decoration. The play was purported to be some kind of award winner about three New York couples trapped by a snowstorm in an Amish farmhouse with an Amish couple. It was not good. The content of the play was pretty cheesy and over the top in portraying the New Yorkers as a bunch of stupid, materialistic buffoons in the most offensive way but clearly pandering to the Lancaster County audience which, of course, showed the Amish couple as funny, wise and street smart. The actors couldn’t seem to decide what a New York accent actually sounds like and the ending didn’t tie up the loose ends nor make sense.(The NY couples bought into a DIY website but were scammed and are now bankrupt despite learning early in the play that one of the guys is a computer genius, one is a businessman and the other is in advertising. Seemed like the perfect combination of experience to build a web-based business to me…) Not recommended.
