My husband and i decided to try a local spot where we live. It was not busy for a Saturday night. The dining room was way cute. Random décor though. We ordered saljoz special pizza. It was decent. Nothing to wrote home about. It probably wont draw us back.

I came here for a work meeting so I only got to try what they ordered which was the pizza and lasagna and they were both amazing! the ziti was very plain to me so don’t bother with that. Can’t wait to come back to try some seafood pasta! Oh and the wall dedicated to American Sniper guy(forgot his name) was awesome. Extra star for that! Loved that movie

I receive a gift card to this restaurant from a charity event that I had attended. Since I’m close to this area today why not redeem my gift card and order Togo. I stopped by and picked up my order and headed home. First dish was the meat lasagna, it was a pretty big portion so I had to split it in half. It was very flavorful, filled with cheese and meat sauce. The texture of the noodles was perfect, so too mushy not too firm. Second dish was the white wine sauce clam linguine. OMG! It was topped with a lot of clams and the noodles tasted like it was made in house. The sauce went well with the pasta, but of course I added Tabasco for that spicy kick. The portion size was huge as well, enough to serve 2 person. Finally the last dish was the Stromboli. The portion wasn’t that big but it was filled with veggies and pepperoni. It wasn’t my favorite dish because I think it had too much stuffing in it. But some people would love that.

I love everything about this place! The food is always cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly, service is quick. The owners are great people, I love chatting with them every time I go in. The new bar, turns into a meeting place most evenings. You can’t go wrong with a stop here for some really good Italian food!

I had the lunch portion ½ fettuccini with chicken, it was enough to feed two. This was way better than chain restaurant food. I will be going back.

If you’re looking for that mom ‘n pop type restaurant where«everyone knows your name», then Saljos pizza is definitely worth checking out… Upon walking in(you’ll seat yourself), you’ll find a lot of western and 9⁄11 memorabilia hanging on the walls, a beautiful yellow painting on the wall which seems to brighten the entire room, and you’ll see Saljo himself nestled in the corner of the kitchen making the pizzas with a huge smile on his face. I’ve probably eaten here about 15+ times over the last year or so, and have had anything from just a tossed salad, the calamari, the pizza, to a few of their ‘signature pasta dishes’, thinking the chicken piccata is my favorite. Now, if you’re comparing the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo you got at Saljo’s to the one you ate last month at Olive Garden(bad example), then clearly you’re doing it wrong. It’s evident upon your first bite that what you’re getting at Saljos isn’t some ‘canned’ corporate recipe, but that of a family run restaurant with ‘in-house’ recipes. My recommendation is you give Saljo’s a try, and if you don’t like it, then at the very least, you will walk away with a few more friends.(Hint: Sit at the bar, and be social!)

Honestly this is one of my favorite pizza joints in West Arlington/Pantego. The tap water sucks(Thank you City of Pantego) but the food here is pretty good. The New York style pizza here(sausage & pepperoni) is a lil greasy and has a slightly chewy crust that isn’t too tough. I’m drooling thinking about it. Service has always been good to me here. Seating is very pleasant and caters to large groups. They also have a full bar and a game room for the kids.

I stopped in to have a bite to ear around three in the afternoon. It wasn’t very busy. I ordered a chicken with artichoke hearts on angel hair pasta. I also received a side salad which was amazing. Very fresh lettuce delicious house vinaigrette dressing. The bread was lightly toasted and warm. Very good. The entrée was good. The chicken was a little dry, the sauce was very flavorful, most of the artichoke hearts were tender and tasty. A couple had stringy outer leaves but I learned which ones to pull off. Overall was a nice dinner.

My wife and I have eaten here numerous times and every time we spend at least $ 40.00 each visit. This time we both ordered lasagna which we’ve had before but this time it had huge chunks of garlic the size of quarters which I bit into and ruined my taste half way through the dish. I mentioned it to the owner while paying… He told me that is Italian food. Sorry, but I have never had garlic chunks in anything I have eaten there before. With tip we spent $ 44.00 and left hungry. Will never return which is a shame since we live 5min away. Thanks for nothing Saljo…

This was our first visit to this place. I asked the server if the chicken Marsala was good. She said yes. Therefore I ordered the Marsala and my husband ordered the meat lasagne. The bread was good. The salad was okay, house dressing. The dinner came and my pasta was soaked with a sauce and mushrooms. The chicken was a 2 ounce piece of chicken that was dry and floating on the pasta. When the server came I told her the chicken was tough and dry. She said it was not usually that way. My husband’s lasagne was one half inch thick. No meat to see, full of cheese, not ricotta. When the time came to go the server asked if I would like a to go box. Why would I take this home. I told her I would like to speak to the owner. Not wanting to cause a seen when she came over I asked her to sit beside me so I could voice my complaint without the table behind me to hear what I had to say. She said she was busy in the kitchen so I told her and showed her my sorry piece of dried up chicken and asked if that was the normal. She said no. For 14.00 I will never go to this place again. She did remove the charge for my meal which I was grateful as I would have not been likely to voluntarily pay for this meal without some discussion. I am truly amazed this place is still open. My meal was disgusting and I have. Never seen such a sorry piece of lasagne in my life. Hope the pizza is better or this place will dry up faster than my chicken that I was served. Good luck.

Saljo’s first mistake was advertising«New York Style Pizza». My standards are set very high when someone claims to have pizza as good as New York. Being skeptical of this, I only ordered one slice. Well, that was all I needed to rate Saljo’s a 1. I would rate it 0 if I could. The pizza was floppy, soggy and there was hardly any sauce on it. None of the pizza from the tip to the crust could hold itself up. It was like eating a wet noodle with cheese on it. It sagged even after folding it in half. The little sauce there was on it and the cheese were of very low quality in comparison to other choices. If you want real New York style pizza, go to Joe’s on Matlock just south of I-20.

We were in the area and decided to try a new place. My initial reactions: there are cars here so that’s good; seemed nice and clean inside. We sat ourselves because no one was there to tell us where to sit. Waited a few minutes and had to grab menus and utensils from another table. After about 10 minutes, the waiter came. We got our pizza, and, being from NJ, I know what NY pizza is. It was just ok, we may go back, nothing to be amazed by.

It was a cold, rainy Saturday night when I walked into Saljo’s. As I walked in the door I was slapped in the face with the smell of garlic and pizza. The place was maybe one third full with a couple of families and older couples and a trio of «look at me» fourty-something women giggling like schoolgirls as they sipped their cheap zinfindel at the bar. After waiting a couple of minutes to be seated a waitress finally told me to sit where ever I wanted. So I found the least dirty table and sat down on one of those cheap metal frame vinyl covered chairs that you usually find at a multi level marketing seminar. I ordered what I figured would be a good simple meal and one of my favorites: chicken piccata. The salad they serve was ok, but with too many olives for my taste. The bleu cheese dressing was straight out of a bottle and they must have been getting low because there was so little there and when I asked for more the waitress never brought any. Or maybe she was just to busy joking around with the rest of the staff in the open kitchen. And if you have an open kitchen at least make sure that it’s clean, organized and your staff operates in a professional manner. And FYI vacuum the floor occasionally. When my entrée finally arrived I was greeted with a plate of gross slop that certainly did not suffer from an overabundance of chicken. In fact it should be changed on the menu to «chicken finger piccata» because that is pretty much what is was. It was the saddest, smallest half of a chicken breasted that I ever laid eyes on. And it was buried underneath a pile of overcooked mush that could charitably be called pasta. Maybe the chicken was hiding out of embarrassment at the lake of sauce that this goop was swimming in. The only redeeming thing I can say is that at least it was hot, but I guess microwaves will do that. Was it nuked? Oh yeah, like Hiroshima in the summer of 45. That sad little piece of poultry was dry like jerky on one end and rubbery like an old Goodyear tire on the other. The menu should call it «Lemon flavored mush with a bunch of canned mushrooms and a pitiful piece of poultry». There are dozens of these little mom and pop Italian places around town and while most of them serve mediocre food at best this was beyond bad. Chef Boyardee would be rolling over in his grave. In fact I would have been better off opening a can of his ravioli than shelling out $ 15 for this stuff.

This place has been a staple for some of the guys to meet at every Wednesday even way back when it was Tony’s. Girls have shown up from time to time but don’t come back… must be the food! Just kidding cause the food is good and usually around $ 6 bucks for lunch! One of the questions asked is there outdoor seating? Yes, just eat on the sidewalk.

It’s not the best pizza, but it doesn’t claim to be. The owner was very friendly and the pizza was very good for the price. I’d go back, for sure. It’s a nice place to grab a pizza and hang out with some friends. Warning: Don’t order the fried mozzarella sticks… they’re addicting.

Every once in a while, you come across those mediocre American-Italian eateries that give you a solid price-per-pasta-calorie ratio, and you cannot help being satisfied by eating at these establishments. You never actually taste anything outstanding at these little local joints, but you just feel like you leave satisfied, or overly full, rather. For cheap. Saljo’s has a very weird menu, even if you are just looking for some straight forward Italian grub. They have a «beef and broccoli» salad, hot wings, a «crustless» pizza, and even something called a «beef wrap.» So you can tell that you will not just have to choose from spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna here. We went with a slice of the New York and a slice of the Saljo’s special. The New York was almost identical in texture, consistency, oiliness, and taste as the standard«mall pizza’ i.e. Sbarro’s. The Saljo’s was essentially the same thing… with toppings. There was a mound of onions, green peppers, jalapenos, hamburger, pepperoni, olives, and anchovies. The crust got a little too soggy to hold up to all of the ingredients. Now the pasta combo was what I was mentioning before: a pure mound of carbohydrates and fat. The dish included an eggplant medallion, 1 shell, 2 veal cannelloni, 1 cheese ravioli, and literally a box of penne. All of this was covered in their boring tomato sauce and a blanket of thick mozzarella. The eggplant was pretty much nonexistent inside the soggy crust. The shell was tender, but the filling was underseasoned. The cannelloni were the best item, with the filling possessing some flavor. The cheese ravioli was acceptable, but again, boring. There was way, way, way to much penne for comfort. I maybe put down a quarter of it… some of the penne was undercooked. All in all, just a bowl of food… but for $ 12? I’ll take it! If you are using Unilocal, then there is no doubt that you understand when I mean when I say this: Saljo’s is your typical neighborhood pasta and sauce joint offering consistent, but unthoughtful dishes«inspired» by the boot. Give it a shot if you want something in the Pantego area.

We love Saljo’s. Everything about it. The pizza is amazing and the service is superb. We have been customers for years — pre Saljos, Tony’s — but the service and food haven’t changed. If you are wanting a real pizza, this is the place to go to . We were craving a slice of their amazing cheese pizza tonight, and arrived after the kitchen had already closed. The owner was more than willing to fix us a giant pie with no questions asked, and a smile on his face. Love love love Saljo’s.

Saljo’s occupies the space that Tony’s used to apparently, but rumor has it Tony’s is down the street so I thought that instead of hijacking Tony’s listing Saljo’s needs their own. We ordered a deep dish pizza, and were warned that it would take about 45 minutes to cook — we didn’t mind, just ordered one order of spaghetti to split while we waited. The spaghetti & meatballs were just ok, I wouldn’t go out of my way to order it again. But, the pizza was well worth waiting for. First off, it was huge. It could have fed four of us alone I think. As it was having had spaghetti first we only got through half of it. Second, it was good. The crust was thick but not at all doughy or heavy. There was a ton of cheese on it, the sauce was flavorful and the toppings generous. It was probably just a tad too greasy but not enough to deter me from coming back. I liked the sliced italian sausage that they use. The service we had was very good. We found the restaurant through Groupon, and were not treated adversely for it at all. The waiter said«it was nice to meet you» before we left, which I thought was a nice homey touch. The restaurant is actually very large and I was concerned that they weren’t very full — people need to go eat there, to keep them busy! This is a restaurant I want to succeed!
