Mystery cruise. Decent price. About $ 43/person. $ 12/person for food included in the $ 43. There was bad weather, we wanted to cancel, receptionist or «just a reservationist»(as she calls herself), says they have a 24hr policy for cancelling. We registered at noon that day, asked why she didn’t mention it, she said«Well yall didn’t ask.»(How cute). We then ask well what can we do, she says, «pay full price, we’re close to starting.» We are going to ask more, wondering if we should just end up going instead of cancelling, she cuts us off, continues in a condescending manner to describe how Florida weather is unpredictable(Don’t know how I missed that living here for 20yrs). But she didn’t know that. Onward we go. A few more interruptions later and she says«you know what fine, I’ll tell the captain to call you… Etc» Tick tock… No call Captain is probably busy, the tour is about to start, so we head over. Ask for the captain. He’s a very friendly fellow, dealt with everything, and followed his policy of only charging for food and not full price since we wanted to cancel. He calmly wished us the best, crossed us off a list on a piece of paper. They dealt with the same people, but one was rude, and the other just great. Evil won. We didn’t go turned off by the lady etc. 2 stars. I think she had a bad day, if not needs to be fired, taught how to deal with difficult people… Who knows it’s a mystery(pun intended). She should just ask the Captain for a weekend tutorial.

Had a work party here once. It was fun but they didn’t let us board until a specific time. That ended up affecting the service at the bar. We had to request a music change. The meal was catered but once you got away from the herd and made it to the upper deck the ride was quite nice. The boat captain showed you the operation of the wheel house and explained the area. Inside the lower deck there was a nice ambiance although it can get loud.

This was not only our first time on Betsy Ann’s Steamboat but also our very first Murder mystery. We didn’t know what to expect and actually we’d already eaten when we stumbled across it. The Captain allowed us to come aboard and participate and it is just what we needed. The staff was very warm and inviting and made the night fun and all the guests feel welcomed. Long story short the Captain’s wife found out about our story, which I won’t relay on her, and she was exactly what our family needed. She was just so sweet and compassionate to us and all the guests. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone visiting St Andrews and wanting to do something a bit different than the typical touristy stuff!

We went out on the Betsy Ann Riverboat this evening for their«murder mystery» event. For $ 35 per person you receive a two-hour boat ride, a buffet dinner(chicken, ham, potatoes, green beans, bread, and a brownie), all-you-can-drink iced tea and/or water, and an active roll(if you wish) in their«Murder Mystery.» The food was okay. I was expecting a lot more variety and quality, but my expectations are generally high. The staff was friendly, though I wish that they had been better actors and memorized their lines/story. They were reading from scripts. I wish it had been a little more realistic. But it was our first ever experience with any type of «murder mystery.» Perhaps that is the way it’s typically done… meh… They have a cash bar so you can purchase alcoholic beverages. It’s a bit pricey in my opinion: $ 5 mixed drinks in tiny cups. If you don’t have cash you must buy at least $ 20 worth of drinks to use your credit card for payment. That sucks… and is illegal by the way. I didn’t say anything about it to the bartender, but it’s illegal to require a minimum purchase in order to use a credit card.(remember that next time you’re at a gas station with no cash for a pack of gum!) We did have a nice time though! That being said, however, we’ll probably try some other local places before heading back to the Betsy Ann.
