My husband and I ate here tonight and were thoroughly impressed. Having eaten at many Thai restaurants ourselves, we both were extremely pleased with the food and the service was amazing. We were the only ones here tonight and we were treated so well. We had the Papaya salad and duck spring rolls to start. For our entrees we had the three Thai brothers and shrimp pad Thai. The only thing I will say about the pad Thai is it is a little more on the teriyaki flavored side than the peanut flavored, which I am not used to, but it was still excellent. Then for dessert, we wanted the Thai donuts but our waitress insisted we try the sticky rice and mango instead… and we were so happy she did! It was delicious and the perfect end to a perfect meal. Don’t forget the Thai iced tea… my husband had never tried it and he couldn’t get enough of it. Large amount of food for the price and great service, even with the slight language barrier. We will definitely be returning.

The service was horrible. 25 min for 2⁄4 meals and 20 min still no silverware. Brought the wrong entrée for one person, and insisted on throwing it away. Rude staff. First time trying Thai food. Unimpressed… we had to leave and go somewhere else. For the high prices you’d think they’d at least focus on u when talking to you.

This is a great Thai restaurant. We got 2 different curry dishes — delicious. I got Thai hot and am still sweating as I write this. Highly recommended.

Wow, can’t believe it’s been two years since our previous visit here. We ate here in a group of 6 and everyone really enjoyed their dinner. …Pad Thai, Pad Woonsen, and Curry dishes. We were the only customers dining in the restaurant, which was hard for us to believe. Sure hope this place does not close down. Servers were very friendly. We’ll be back again soon.

Lovely place not far from the water in downtown Panama City. The inside temperature on the evening I dined there was stifling and overly hot. We opted for the terrace with a view of the water through the trees. The staff was super friendly and steered us toward great choices. We all ordered the local 30A draft — the beach blonde. Crisp and flavorful! We were treated to complimentary bowls of a flavorful broth with bright vegetables. For an appetizer, we ordered crab rangoon — a light, crispy rendition of the classic. Two us ordered the shrimp and scallops in the basil sauce and we both swooned over the flavor. The third member of our party ordered a chicken dish that came piled high with crispy chicken and bright vegetables. We all agreed that we would return to this spot soon!

The food was delicious! My husband and I have both been to Thailand separately. We’re kind of picky with restaurants. The food is authentic. Very nice people. My husband loved the red snapper and I had the panang. He could not stop talking about the good. He wants to try the lobster pad Thai and the grouper.

Food is really good, but at first it smells bad, the waiters there were kind and friendly, and the service was amazing

Food tasted good. Wasn’t as warm both in heat(I asked for thai hot) or temperature as I’d have liked it. Our soup and edamame was luke warm as well. Which was shocking because there were only a few tables in the store at the time. We’ll give them a try again but maybe at lunch time.

We have a failure to communicate here. Seriously, a language barrier led to problems at the bar that followed us to the table. The server/owner could not understand our questions about certain dishes which ended in an unwanted substitute dish being ordered, or dishes served to our group without any warning of the switch and no apologetic compensation. The food OK, even if it was food we didn’t order, but temperature was lukewarm after a long wait, and we didn’t dare send it back fearing even a greater delay. Be careful not to order at the bar without a clear understanding of price. We were surprised by high prices for a restaurant without ambiance. I do not see a return trip in my future.

Great Thai food. It’s delicious and the service is great. We order takeout all the time, and dine in a little. It’s a tad expensive, but other than that, no complaints.

Here for dinner with the Mrs on a Friday evening. We had actually intended to give«Just a cook off the hook» a try, however there was no where to sit and just a bit too hot to eat outside anyway. We both love Thai food and this place was close and not crowded. She ordered the Volcano Fried Grouper($ 19.95) and I went with the«Three Thai Brothers» special($ 17.95). We also had an appetizer of fresh Summer Rolls($ 7.95) The Good: The server apologized and asked us if we minded waiting a few minutes for the summer rolls. She explained that they are delicate to make and that they always make them fresh(as opposed to the fried spring rolls I guess). They didn’t take all that long and were obviously very, very fresh. The rolls and the accompanying peanut sauce were both great. Our main courses arrived fairly quickly. The«3 Thai Brothers» I ordered was piled high with tender, moist pieces of pork, chicken, and beef as well as lots of perfectly cooked(stir fried?) veggies in a slightly spicy red curry sauce. The Mrs was also impressed with the Volcano Grouper. Plenty of delicious fried grouper and crispy, fresh veggies in a sweet and spicy sauce. Both came with the standard white rice on the side. Service was very fast and friendly. The Bad: It seems that they are trying to save on electricity. Had to walk down an unlighted maze to get to the men’s room. No hand soap in restroom. Also, I noted about a dozen ceiling fans of which none were turned on. This may have been the reason we had to deal with a few hungry flies. I don’t like flies when I’m eating, especially in a climate controlled restaurant. Overall impression I got was the place was a little on the dingy side. Not terribly so, but certainly noticeable. The Verdict: Great food. Not so great atmosphere. Prices are not too bad($ 53 plus tip) considering the food quality and quantity. I’d probably go here again if we were in the neighborhood and wanted good Thai food. I’m going generous with 4 stars based on the food and service, NOT the facilities.

Wanted my spicy fix and this hit the spot! I had the Miss Thailand. Shrimp and scallops with Thai spices, a bit salty but still tasty. I asked for hot and they said the dish was spicy hot but as with many Thai restaurants, they hold back with Americans. Thankfully they had deliciously spicy condiments. My husband had the Volcano Grouper. He thought it was going to be spicy hot, since it is called ‘volcano’ but it was subtle. Again, add condiments ;) My mother-in-law had the shrimp curry panang. She doesn’t like spicy and she loved it! It was tasty. Overall, a good experience with yummy food and excellent service. We will return.

For two years we have been dining here and have been 100% satisfied with service, politeness, & high quality of their presentation — & superior food quality /taste. I highly recommend Thai Basel to any and all. Even their sticky/rice & mango dessert is gourmet

They saved our night from an awful experience at hunt’s oyster bar(terrible place). My wife and I stumbled across this little gem, because we were still hungry after eating at hunts, and we love thai food. The seafood fried rice was a little pricey, but tasted amazing. They didn’t skimp on the seafood, and the rice was the most perfect texture. The thom kha had lots of veggies and meat with a good flavor… My wife’s Pad Thai was on par with some of the better thai restaurants we have been to. The Thai tea was amazing, perfectly blended. Overall, I came in very grumpy from a bad experience elsewhere and they made me happy! In addition to staying open an extra 30 minutes for just my wife and I, the food was great!
