This place is the best food for the price on the beach. Lived there for three years and the owners are the best when it comes to hospitality and making you feel at home. You can’t beat their early bird specials and two for one drinks. They also have the best homemade deserts. Don’t pass up the strawberry cake. It is to die for!!!

I have never left a restaurant and felt the need to review it immediately, but I feel that I need to warn other people who may be tricked into eating at Pier 77. First and foremost, the service is horrible. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table after being seated – they were busy, but there wasn’t a line outside and there were still plenty of open booths. Second, the food is made from frozen ingredients. The hush puppies were obviously made by Sysco(or another food supply co.), and you only get 4 for a ridiculous price. The fried cheese curds are OK, but it’s nearly impossible to mess up fried cheese; however, they are also obviously from frozen. The side salad consisted of one slice(a hollow circle) of red onion, one cherry tomato, one cucumber slice, and around 5 pieces of lettuce. It was the most pathetic looking salad I have ever seen, and it was also obscenely priced for its quantity and quality. These food items came out after waiting another 20 mins. We also ordered raw oysters, which didn’t come out for another half hour after that. The raw oysters tasted old and had basically no oyster liquor, which tells me that someone doesn’t know how to shuck or they are from frozen oysters as well. I got the one refill of my drink that I asked for when the waitress brought the check. She offered to put it in a to go cup. Thanks, but I really wanted it when I was thirsty 30 mins ago. The sad part about this restaurant is that it is one of those ma and pa «open for 30 years» type places that doesn’t care about food quality or service – all they care about is getting that sacred tourist dollar by selling subpar and misrepresented food. Their philosophy is obviously high volume and low food cost over serving quality food.

This was a great little find. We walked right in at 7:00 and was able to sit down. I had the imperial grouper which came with grilled shrimp on top. Man it was outstanding. It was grilled with a she crab cream sauce on top. My son ordered the fried catfish dinner. It was the biggest piece of fish I have ever seen and it was really good. My daughter had the grilled Mahi Mahi. It was really good. My husband had the broiled scallops and seafood combo. He said it was good but he finished off my meal and said mine was better! Our waiter Chris was great. Super friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is right next door to Shrimp City and all the seafood they serve comes from there so it’s super fresh. Not a fancy place but a place worth trying for sure. All in all a great meal.

The owner met us outside to help us find parking. The food was incredible. The waiter was polite, funny, and engaging. The price wasn’t bad either.

We come here at least 3 times each visit to Panama City beach. The ribeye is the best! Juicy and tender. Fried green tomatoes are good too. The prices are very reasonable. Set on the porch!

Hit this place during the twilight dinner menu/happy hour time(4−6pm). Our server, Howard, was fantastic, super nice and funny, very helpful. I got the shrimp dinner which for the price was a ton of food and very tasty. Big shrimp, fried perfectly in a good coating. The potatoe wedges and cheese grits were only ok. NY friend got the broiled seafood combo with shrimp and bay scallops and he thought the meal was average. Plenty of food, again. Plus with 2 for 1 draft beer specials, this is a great place to hit during the 4−6om period! Try to get Howard as a waiter!

I love this place!!! The food was delicious and the prices couldn’t be beat. The only thing is the drinks didn’t have much alcohol in them. That was a little disappointing. The entertainment was great. Local talent is always great to hear. We got there early and didn’t have to wait. It appeared to have a lot of locals hanging out. I will be back

Service could not even answer what type of oysters they were serving, nor the rest of the staff. Enough said.

Local hangout, cheaper than other places, really fresh grouper, and drink specials. This place don’t look like much but if your not looking for atmosphere but just good food this is the spot.

Visiting from Texas and wanted some good gulf seafood on a Friday night. We saw this and stopped in for dinner. As many have said, it’s not much to look at — and when you walk in the dining room is kinda configured oddly — split between 2 sections — and yes, it’s straight out of the 1970’s hey day of Convoy, Smokey and the Bandit and Jimmy Buffett — but what we came here for was the food not the ambiance(which I kinda liked irrespective) The food and service was really, really good. Very friendly, got everything out right and fast and everything was tasty goodness. The shrimp were big, the fish was fresh the hushpuppies were tasty. We had a whole table full of po-boys and fish and shrimp and even though we were stuffed, we managed to eat it all. Walked out of here with happy taste buds and full belly. Would go back tomorrow if not for the 12 hour drive. Definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for good seafood and good service in a laid back atmosphere!

Went on a Saturday night around 6:00 the parking lot was nearly full. Got a table right away. Décor is dated, but I was there for the food. Wife and I both ordered fried shrimp and they were tasty. Daughter got fried clams and she said they were good. Prices were reasonable for the area and would go back ~ July 2014

My family and I make a yearly PCB and we always make a stop at this place. We come for the raw oysters and cheap happy hour beer prices. We always end up staying for a full meal, which is always great. This year we tried the crab cake dinner, which were awesome and the Aha tuna dinner. Even with a detailed order our waitress did an awesome job. Great place for an awesome meal at fairly descent prices!

We arrived at around 8 o’clock and the service was super fast with our meals arriving within 15 minutes. The food was okay, but the hush puppies were overcooked along with the steamed shrimp appetizer. Wouldn’t recommend but not horrible.

Let me start by saying that this place is not much on the eye and don’t get any better after you walk in but we got GREAT service(at the bar). Our bartender(Jenny) was out of this world. Everything we needed or wanted, she had for us and the food was really good since that’s why we stopped in for. We had shrimp three different ways and they were good each way. I cannot say enough about the service we received because we stopped at another spot and the wait was unreal. I am 100% sure that there service and food wasn’t any better and they were rated higher.

We tried this place on a tip. We arrived early(5:15p) for dinner and began surveying the menu. There is a wide variety of choices with reasonable prices however, If you are looking for a place with lots of ambience, this is not the place. They are a family restaurant in business for over 30 years and it looks like it. It was clean, just not fancy at all. A small town diner feel. The server was friendly and attentive and made us aware that we could order from an early bird menu with choices at $ 10.99 price point, 2 for 1 mixed drinks, beer and $ 1.99 house Margaritas. Not bad, right? The disappointment started with the salad. I have placed more greens on a sandwich than was on the plate and the Greek salad dressing was way too salty! Next, the Margarita arrived in a glass the size of about a double shot glass and was just ok. The food began to arrive and I’ll have to admit that the Ahi Tuna was very good; cooked and seasoned well. Others in our party ordered the Alaskan White fish that arrived a bit under cooked and not much flavor. The hush puppies were small and way, way over cooked for their size(ping pong ball sized.) the bright spot came with the dessert. We ordered the strawberry cake that is homemade and was very moist and tasty. All in all, I would rate it fair. The meal prices were good for being at the beach, the dessert was great as was the service(Thank You Janet.) the food prep quality was only fair. I would recommend it to someone who wasn’t picky and didn’t want to spend a fortune at larger seafood places hear.

Cold beer, Oysters & Blackened Snapper… Good combo. Snapper was awesome, oysters were tad over cooked and please use a better quality cheese. All in all good though.

Wouldn’t recommend it, food was average tasting at best, and was priced very high especially considering the portion size… I would’ve been fine with the portions if the price had matched. I ordered a «seafood platter» and was nothing more than a scampi dish sitting on a platter… first time/last time…

When you see a sign that says that the place has been there for 30+ years, you tend to get excited. Anything that’s been around that long HAS to be good, right? That was our thinking when going to Pier 77. We got this recommendation from another guest at the Marriott where we were staying. He talked about how good the food was. He had a southern twang and was probably tipping the scales at 350lb’s. In hindsight, this should have been our first warning. I liked the down-home feel to this spot. Community style tables, cheesy neon signs, I liked it. Very kitschy. My family and I sat down at a nice, large table, ordered drinks and checked out the menu. Lots of good looking stuff on the menu. It goes downhill from here. J, my g/f, asked ahead of time if the veggies were fresh or frozen. He was unsure, but checked. The nice gentleman reported they were fresh. When they arrived on the plate, they were still frozen in the middle. Her Mahi was, «cooked to shit.» My mother ordered the She Crab soup. It was grey and thin like gravy. Of all the She Crab Soups I’ve had in my day, this was the lowest quality/oldest/not goodest I’ve ever seen or eaten. I ordered the Captain’s Plate. I was supposed to have some mahi, shrimp, scallops, veggies and some cheesy grits. I received a plate with several«sections» of things. I was super excited. The section closest to me was the shrimp and scallops in a small plate. Cheesy grits were off to the right. The Mahi was at 12 o’clock and the veggies to the 9:00. The shrimp and scallops were very overcooked. That was a bummer. It was even more of a bummer that they were cold. The butter had started to congeal back into a stick. Strike one. The grits were out of a package. They were bland and cold as well. Strike two. The Mahi was left on the grill at least 3 more minutes than it needed to be. It was hot, however. I didn’t try the veggies after J reported her’s being frozen and microwaved. My sister returned her cheesy grits for the same reason. She reported that her fish was«decent.» I feel sorry saying this about a family business, but don’t go here. At least on the night we went, the quality of the fish is low, cooked improperly and not seasoned correctly.
