Castaways Bar & Eatery

We are staying at a house in Carillon Beach, so we were looking for a light bite after a long drive from Atlanta. Really a 3.5 star review. We sat outside, but there was a smoker near by so we slid over to the side of the deck. It was early but the inside had some big families already seated, so it was loud menace our choice to sit away from the noise. They offer a popcorn machine to keep the kids occupied. The weather was perfect with a little breeze. We had very good service, the server was quite honest about what to order, which is refreshing. We had the Caesar salad which had too many croutons. The dressing was vinaigrette v. creamy, I like it both ways my daughter prefers the creamy version. It was split up for us. We asked for the cheese bread, now normally when you order cheese bread you get a baguette sized order. Not here, it was a pizza! It was very tasty, the side of red sauce was a bit weak & tasteless. I like a chunky tomato sauce to dip into. My friend ordered the house salad which had pecans, chunks of blue cheese& lots of veggies, too many croutons again. We ordered the Little Duke with cheddar to share, the burger was really good, you could tell it was a good mix of meat. The guava ketchup was sweet and tasty but it was a minuscule swirl on the top bun. Not a bad meal. The restaurant was purchased by new owners in March, they are new at the biz but I think they will do well if they make a few tweaks. They had trivia on Wed night, we stayed for a little bit but it was time to go home and get recharged for the next day of sun & fun.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here during our PCB trip. We ate here on a Sunday evening. Decided to sit on the patio because it is on a lake. There was live music.
I loved our server! His personality was great. He was dead on with suggestions and timing. The other staff members we briefly interacted with were very friendly as well.
The food was good. I loved their guava ketchup! I had a burger that was stuffed with cheese and sausage. The drinks were awesome!

Succs hard. Kitchen must be a microwave and the Winn Dixie down the road but some help for Gods sake. Wasted 45 minutes for appetizers b4 we left but never again. «F» this place. Hope they fail. Another SBA restaurateur who thought they could make it.

Find out when they are doing karaōke. Great karaōke DJ keeps things lively.
Greek pizza is much more than I expected for bar food. Do yourself a favor and order it!
The bathrooms are upstairs so you either have to take elevator or climb stairs. It’s a weird layout.

Very friendly and great food. I would go back. Only issue is you have to take the elevator to the bathroom.

We are under new ownership for the 2015 year and have an updated menu and atmosphere. We have a new chef and kitchen staff and are looking forward to seeing all the returning guests this year.
