I went there Saturday night and found out how horrible the staff are. Makes management look incompetent. This is a place I can not eat. I went there to get a sandwich and witnessed the most horrific act. A guy(apparently mentally challenged and homeless) at the table randomly threw a cup with soda in it at the customer ordering a sandwich. Then he proceeded to attack the customer(stopping before any physical contact broke out), demanding he leave and accused him of selling drugs. This is bad enough, but not necessarily a reflection of the organization. However, what followed is what leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The employee didn’t do anything. This guys drink flew all over the restaurant, including into the ingredients. Now, I can understand how he could be shocked. However, when the customer expressed his concerns and explained to the Subway employee that he should explain to the man that he can’t do that, he turned it back on the customer. Saying, he hadn’t caused any problems before and that the customer must have done something. I witnessed the whole event, as did the employee. This was a completely random act of violence, that will not be tolerated in Palo Alto. At the very least he needed to rebuke the man, if not ask him to leave. Moreover, he said he’d give the customer his sandwich on the house, only to change his mind at the cash register and charge him full price. A civilized community can not tolerate this kind of behavior and the store that allows this to continue out to be shutdown. Being mentally challenged and homeless is no excuse for this outrageous conduct in our community. Allowing it to persist is even worse. Shame on you Subway, you give the Franchise a bad name and put a bad mark on our great city of Palo Alto.

There are probably 5 Subways within a 2-mile radius from where I work, and I enjoy getting a sandwich from here every other week. Most Subways are the same so it really comes down to the people who work there, the cleanliness of the restaurant and did I eat a sandwich from here that makes me question whether or not I should ever eat Subway again. This place is the best Subway in Palo Alto. The workers are friendly, efficient, and take time to craft the best possible sandwiches. They went through a stretch where they weren’t making chocolate chip cookies, which was pretty disappointing, but over the last few months they always have cookies and I always have to grab one even if they aren’t healthy at all. If you need to get a subway and are in Palo Alto, this is the place for you. I am not saying it is the best sandwich place, just the best Subway in the area

THEGOOD: — It’s a Subway sandwich — Price(a decent deal for an OK sandwich) THEBAD: — Service is not good. Customer Service rule number one; don’t speak a foreign language to your co-workers in front of your customers or while customers are in the store; not professional. But … conversing with a customer in a foreign language is OK and most likely very appreciated by the customer. — Employees don’t smile, aren’t friendly. If you people don’t like your job, find another that suits your style. Retail jobs are all about serving the customer. OVERALL: I’ve had way better service at the Subway on Middlefield Rd.(in the Piazza shopping center).

Unless a Subway chain is having a particularly«off» day, the food is generally the same… so scores are for cleanliness and friendliness, really. This location was spotless, and Lourdes was about the fastest/nicest employee I’ve dealt with at any Subway in months. In and out fast, got exactly what I wanted, didn’t have to repeat myself five times like I’ve had to at other locations.

I avoid these anemic, flavorless excuses for sandwiches whenever I can. I’m always surprised Subway is still in business at all when I notice one. Shows what a catchy jingle can do for you. Anyway, they hit a new low today: I opted to get a sandwich here because work was picking up the check and figured its pretty hard to screw up a BLT. I asked for it with peppercinis and jalapenos(phone order). I received dry bread containing ONLY a few slices of bacon, a handful of peppercinis and a few jalapenos. No «L,» no «T,» just those ingredients(see photo). This is the result of unengaged, poorly trained, ineffectively managed employees. But hey, if working at Subway keeps these people from working in low level admin roles in the medical profession or the justice system or somewhere they can REALLY screw you over, I guess there’s something great going on here after all. Pepper Plant Sauce = NO

Came here for an emergency lunch(ie, executives wanted lunch in a hurry). Rolled in around 12:30pm and was super happy to find it wasn’t as busy as I thought it might be. :) I let the gentlemen behind the counter know that I would be ordering 4 sandwiches and he took them one at a time. Like a freaking champ, he ran through all ingredients and plowed through making them in less than 5 minutes. Impressive! Checked out. Was given discounts. Awesome. In and out in less than 15 minutes, including the standing in line time. Totally amazing! Great service. Quick service. No complaints. Good location. Clean facility. I’m pretty darn happy and would definitely recommend this location.

I came in for lunch, was greeted by two employees upon walking through the door(impressive). I order a toasted sandwich, the gentlemen begins making it and pops it in the little toaster oven. While its toasting someone else walks in and orders a sandwich, the same gentlemen who was helping me begins the newcomers order. My sandwich had finished toasting so he pulls it from the oven and places it on the counter. Instead of finishing my order he goes back to the newcomer’s sandwich, leaving mine sitting on the counter getting cold. There was no «someone will be right with you», or «just one moment». After about a minute one of the other two employees realized my sandwich was just sitting there and finished it up for me. I’m not asking for much here, just help people in the order they arrived. As for the sandwich, it wasn’t nearly as filling as a footlong should be. I could put another one down no problem. Overall, Togo’s is a much better value.

This place probably has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in a fast food establishment since In-N-Out raised the bar in the late 90s. The employees barely speak English, if at all, and they are very slow and unhelpful. It was the closest Subway within walking distance when I lived in Palo Alto, but I’d much rather have walked the extra mile to Ace of Sandwiches for a sandwich worth eating with people that understand my order!

This subway is very close to work, so I often stop by. However, they ALWAYS somehow manage to screw up my order. I say«No olives/cheese,» they put them any way; I say«on honey oat», but they ask me what kind of bread, etc. It is so frustrating when you’re in rush.

Honestly, I like Subway. Plenty of options, pretty good food and good prices. While I am a sandwich fanatic, I still have some love for the sandwich chain. This small subway is always super clean, like very clean. I like that. Few tables inside, a few patio tables outside. Good times. The staff is pretty pleasant, willing and do their job just right. I’m in, order, pay and out. Perfect service. I’m all about the turkey or the chicken breast on wheat with almost everything and EXTRA olives. It’s good stuff, simple but pretty cheap. And seriously, I can’t ask for extra olives a lot of places. Cheap. Tasty. Easy.

If I could rate no Stars I would. I have been to this store several times. In the beginning it was OK. The last 3 times I have been there the customer service has been poor. The food in general is good. Its the customer service that prevents me from going back again. Unless they change out the staff. I was there today and the Staff was very friendly and chatty with a customer that speaks there language. They made eye contact with me but made no attempt to say Hi or «We will be with you in just a minute». This was at 9:30 am and only one other customer and Myself. I know I will not go back to this Subway. there is a Quiznos down the street and I will pay more for the customer service. I guess the old add-age is true. «You get what you pay for» and here not much.

I got a breakfast sangwich & a soda the other morning at 7:00 am on my way to work. This is your basic Subway: clean, good prices. I sat down and ate my meal in the store. There were two Spanish speaking employees working, a female and a male. She had a funky attitude and was very unfriendly. She seemed to be laboring just to make my simple order and he was busy teasing and annoying her by singing to her in Spanish as he purposely kept passing by her and stopping and getting in her face. She was not responding and he kept trying to bug her even more. I think this is why she had the funky attitude. Not a good combination. My guess is that he is the early morning manager and she is a subordinate putting up with the harassing behavior. Food was ok but the employees behavior was nauseating, especially the male employee. I actually don’t blame her for having a funky attitude having to put up with that nonsense. I won’t be going back here for breakfast.

I would normally not put 4 stars to a Subway because the food there warrants 3 stars(which is still good). I put an extra star for this location because of the friendly staff and the fact that it is in a nice location. Otherwise, it’s like any other Subway.

Subway must be credited with a great series of ad campaigns and a good system. The sandwiches are certainly good, and the staff tend to be towards the better end of counter-service. It is what it is. I never get foot-long sandwiches, so the $ 4.80 six incher leaves me feeling a bit gypped lately, but it’s easy, it’s quick, and very rarely disappointing.

I am dropping this to 3 stars because they have taken the veggie patty sandwich off of the $ 5 footlong menu… and I am sooo sad…

Goddamn«five dolla foot long» commercial has been stuck in my head for a few days, so I had to stop by here for lunch(on friday). Picked up a foot long turkey breast sandwich and some jalapeño chips. The sandwich was good except for the fact that the turkey didn’t taste fresh at all. Had a bad turkey aftertaste to it. My first year in college, my girlfriend(now ex-gf) worked at Subway so I was hooked on their sandwiches, but this didn’t come close to how good subway used to be. Good thing I got ridd’a that damn song in my head.

So you either like subway or you don’t. I like it better than Quizno’s. Some people don’t. This particularly subway is clean, service was friendly and quick and the toppings fresh. Extra big bonus — open until 10 on Sunday for when you’re starved and need a relatively healthy meal.
