Came here for threading, and worked with Helen. $ 50 for the whole face and she left a lot on there, I will have to go to my regular spot to redo it. I will not come here again.

Dont do your threading here. My eyebrows are still messy and it cost me $ 30 when i usually only $ 15 for eyebrows and upper lip. Not worth the $ 30.

Another pleasant visit. This is definitely my regular salon when I’m in town, and Ivonne is my go-to girl. She always greet me with a hug and joy– it’s great to have your manicurist remember who you are! Again, impeccable job by her.

Do not recommend this salon. Very dirty, smells bad, and bad service. Pedicure chairs are broken and dirty, floors haven’t been cleaned, their tool drawers are very dusty. Only plus was the lady doing my pedicure gave me a good 15 min massage on each leg.

35 $ for a regular polish fill…$ 35?!! Not a new set or shellac, just a fill! Maybe I’m not used to Palo Alto prices but anywhere in Sunnyvale or Mountain View it’s $ 20. The lady that did my nails was very nice. However she nicked me a few times and was very aggressive with the file. The nail selection bothered me as well. I chose a color, then shook the bottle. Very low in polish and was watery. I get that adding solution to polishes helps them last and delay goopyness. However I picked up 4 bottles and they all had that consistency. I finally just settled for a color. And as I suspected the coat was extremely watered down, even after 3 coats the color looked thin and see through in light. Clean salon but nothing special. I also noticed that the lady took tools out of a blue sterile package, that had already been opened… Mediocre shaping, I’m okay with the results. But I can’t get over a $ 35 fill!

Worst manicure ever! When I pointed out the uneven nail trim job and the rough and dry skin and cuticles, all they could say was sorry and said at least the toes look good. I purposely didn’t push to see how they would treat the situation because I’m looking for a new nail place. Needless to say, I’m still looking. The nails look worse in sunlight — bubbles in the polish, uneven nail coating — some thick, some thin. AVOIDTHISPLACE unless you like paying $ 45 for a manicure that looks worse than an airport express manicure after you messed it up by not letting it dry long enough.

Decided to try this place as I was in Palo for the arts fair. Kim gave me a quick mani and she was pretty attentive, asking me how much I wanted my nails clipped and offering wine, though I went with water. The mani didn’t take any longer then others I have had, despite some comments by other reviewers. She was very precise about the shape and length. A pleasant surprise was a nice five minute neck massage, included in the $ 18 price. I wished the floor had been a bit cleaner, and that a «character» who came in from the street to sell m & m’s could have been handled better – it was a bit awkward and I’ve never had that experience before. The owner /manager seemed friendly, but made me a bit nervous as he seemed to pace the salon back and forth. I would go again to give it another try, but would have appreciated someone telling me about the 20% discount for first-timers. Certainly the owner could have mentioned it???

Husband and I walked in for a hair cut. He is very picky and does not get his hair cut often. The stylist listened to the request and was able to provide a great cut for a decent price. I am happy with this salon and will return.

I want to rate this place nicely because overall they were very kind. I came in with a certain request of a design on my nail(an evil eye), I came in with the picture because that’s exactly what I wanted. The lady said she could do it and then said she could do it even better than what my picture had. I said okay and then when she started doing it she created her own design. I wanted an «evil eye» on my finger and I ended up getting swirls and sparkles with no evil eye at all. «Isn’t my design so beautiful?» Is what she said to me and I really felt bad saying no that’s not what I asked for. I wish I would’ve been more assertive because I ended up leaving, VERY unsatisfied, and went to another nail salon across the street to fix it. The ladies were kind, but just go in willing to be very assertive if you want something specific because they will not listen to you if they don’t like what you have in mind.

Absolutely love this place! Friendly, kind and caring staff. Right on University Ave in Palo Alto. Hair Salon plus the best mani-pedi every time I come here with my wife.

I’ve given this place a number of tries and just can’t like it. Why? –they cut my cuticles so badly that they bled and didn’t even acknowledge what they had done –they destroyed my toenails, trimming them down to nearly nothing and insisting that would make them better –they take twice as long as any other salon I’ve gotten to(2+ hours for a mani/pedi whereas my new place gets me in and out in 45 mins) –they ask invasive questions throughout the entire process i.e. Are you pregnant I will NOT be returning.

Love love love this place! Hmmm where to start. SO, a friend of mine goes here on the reg, so I decided to join in on the pamper sesh about 3 weeks ago. They have a huge selection of nail lacquer. I choose shellac for obvious reason(BTW found out that it’s made from bug saliva… EW, but at least nasty insects have some use to us lol) My feet were soaked with cute rose pedals and orange peels, while they served me a chilled glass of white wine. All the chairs are new(I think there’s 5⁄6), so they’re incredibly comfortable and massage to perfection. I went again last night, working two jobs a day, it becomes difficult(nearly impossible) to get my nails done during the week. But both times I arrived just after 7:30PM(they close at 8) and they were more than happy to service my mani AND pedi. I didn’t get out of there til closer to 9 or so. but they were more than happy to take their time to perfect the process! Michael, the owner, is such a sweet heart. Hard working man, he’s been in the industry since the 60’s and has owned this location since the 80’s! So next time you want a pamper sesh with gals or even fellas, bring them here! They’re flexible with time, and will do whatever they can to service you and make you leave satisfied! Enjoy a glass of wine, get a lil crunky before you realize how darn beautiful your nails are. Oh, and don’t forget to ask for JENNIFER! Super detail oriented! And she got the personality to make you smile or even laugh during your treatment!

Shayda has been doing my hair for 13 years now, and always tailors it to my lifestyle… very short and chic when I was chasing my 2 year old around, and now 10 years later colors and styles it so I can wear it down or up. She’s always current in the latest trends in styling. AND I GETTONSOFCOMLPIMENTS! She also cuts my husbands hair, my 14 year old son and 11 year old daughter. Thank you Shayda

Mani/pedi quality varies widely between the stylists, I had experienced both good and bad. However, the price is low(compared to other places in the area), the place is open late, and it is very homey.

I went in last week to get a shellac mani fill and pedi with Jennifer, and she absolutely did an amazing job. This is my second time to this Salon, and Jennifer was a true professional. Jennifer made sure that I was happy with everything before she moved onto the next step. Another nice thing was that she was very gentle taking off the old shellac and did not even have to use an electric file. Jennifer is also very friendly, and fast, especially if you only have an hour to spare for lunch!. The overall Salon is very clean and all utensils/tools were taken out of a sterile plastic bag. The location is ideal, located right off of University Ave., in Downtown Palo Alto. I will be definitely be going back again in about 3 weeks! Thank you Jennifer! :)

I don’t have crazy high standards for manicures. I’ve had great manicures, but 90% of the time, it’s fine. But this one was very not good. I walked in and said to the receptionist«Hi, I’m here to get a manicure.» The woman then stared at me. After a minute of looking blankly at me, she said«Aaaaand?» “And that’s it. I’m just here for a manicure.” «Oh…Ok. [very confused face] Let’s see what we can do about that.» So, I sit down for a gel manicure. I pick out the color I want, and she tells me they dont have that. I pick out a second one, and they don’t have that one either. Then she tries to tell me they DO have that one, but it was mis-numbered, and the bottle she has is actually the one I want, even though the numbers aren’t the same. But the color I’ve picked out and the one in the bottle are totally different colors. I pick a third color. She paints it on, and it’s just totally 6 shades lighter than the bottle color. I wait to see if it will get darker with a second or third coat, but it doesn’t get close to what the bottle color is. And then she’s like, «All done!». I point out that no, the two colors are totally different. And so she paints a dark brown over the lighter red, to make it darker. At this point, my nails look like sludge, and I’ve been there for over an hour, so I just go.

I would not recommend this establishment for men’s haircuts. I went in with ~2″ long hair and explained I wanted to trim about ¾″. Before I could say stop, a buzzer had completely demolished one side of my hair, to military length. I was left with no choice but to buzz all the way around. It looks atrocious and is the subject of much laughter among my friends…

Finally came back to have my hair did. Honest to goodness, go here and look for Halima. She does a wonderful job for both men and women. Tell her what you want and she will let you know if it will look good on you or not but if you really want a certain hair style, she will do an amazing job! She takes pride on her craft. You will not regret making her your stylist…

I’ve been coming to Michael Lucich for over a year now to get my hair and nails done. Shayda is my go-to hairdresser– she takes time to listen to what I want, offers suggestions and I always walk out happy with the outcome and feel beautiful. I made an appointment for cut and color yesterday, and as always, she did a fantastic job! Book an appointment with her through text 408 – 7268434.

This review is based on the services provided by Jennifer that I received Monday at 7:00pm. Services: Shellac removal, pedicure, and shellac manicure. Pros: –extra effort into pedicures with blue water, rose pedals, and lemon. –Jennifer kept complimenting my nails throughout session. –Shaped and cleaned up my nails beautifully! –Takes clients late(in the sense that the salon is open late) Cons: –poked me quite a few times… Ouch! –I asked her nicely to fix a bubble in my nail and her response was«no one will notice.» This really upset me since I am paying for this service… it was NOT up to par… She refused to redo the nail… –My biggest concern is that I paid $ 85 for shellac manicure, removal of previous shellac, pedicure, and gratuity(would have been more if she fixed my bubble) and my nails have already started chipping as of Wednesday… Which means their shellac has lasted two days and now I already have to get it redone. I really wanted to like this place… The ambiance could be improved like music selection… But I mostly go to salons for the quality… This was not good quality if my nails have chipped after only two days of service and I have a bubble on my thumb… the design I received was also not the best and is uneven and starting to rub off for some reason. Overall, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone unless you needed an emergency nail place and needed somewhere open late.
