Apparently sports bars aren’t too much of a thing in Palm Springs? We were looking for a place to grab some cheap beer, shots and bar food. Our primary objective: acquire mozzarella sticks. So after looking through pages of Unilocal reviews we decided to do it the old fashioned way… stumble down the street until we find what we were looking for! After walking eight blocks we found this spot. The best part of this place is the beer because the food was not very good… and I am judging this against other bar food I’ve eaten! Look I’m not expecting a five star plate of food, but fried cheese sticks should never be soggy. The dipping sauce was like tomato water, really runny and lacked any kind of flavor. The chicken nachos had some type of cheese goo on them that I’m not quite sure ever came from a cow, but the chicken was cooked well and that helped me eat a few chips. The fried zucchini was probably the worst thing that came out. How they got the zucchini to ooze out as if it was liquid will forever be a mystery. I’m not asking for hand battered zucchini, hell they could be frozen and bought from Costco but at least cook them correctly! The food was bad, the service was bad, the people were interesting and the music sucked. Unfortunately for the city of Palm Springs I think this is the coolest sports bar that exists in the area.

I’m looking for a great sports bar to watch some MLB and BAM right on the strip pops OVERTHETOP. The patio has a great misting station and inside it’s chock full of cool memorabilia and CHILLY — me likee in August. Patty O’Brien, THE local bar goddess and tour guide welcomes me with a chilly PBR(2.00) and the best service I’ve had in a decade. The owners are laid back and the Happy Hour treats are dee-lite-full. TACOTUESDAYS — $ 1.50 30% off wings, poppers, zucchini I’ve been to the other local hangs and while they have their charm they cannot match the vibe of this watering hole.

Leave it to us to find the one place in Palm Springs run by a Jets fan. It’s not the best sports bar in the history of the world, but it’s not bad either. There was a decent selection of bar food, and the BF is stll talking about his pastrami dog. The waitress was awesome, very attentive and friendly. So, why the middle of the ground rating? Well, it just seemed… I don’t know… dead? There wasn’t much life in the place and there didn’t seem to be much effort to bring life in. On the street there’s very limited signage and it’s tough to spot. We only noticed it because we parked right out front and were starving. I’d love to see this place during football or basketball season. I think there might be more to offer then, but for right now it feels like you’re going into a place that’s struggling to survive.

Im a sports bar guy but this is a dive bar disguised as a sports bar. The service is not so good dive bar service and the customers seem to be regulars. I added a star because they have Raspberry Shock Top on tap and it was good… never seen it before… never had it before or since… but it was good… so they get an extra star. Over the Top is on the second floor of a building that doesnt look like it should have a bar on the 2nd floor… i guess thats why its called Over the top.

Looks like a fun bar to go to at night, we just came in for lunch though. My co-worker had some sort of wrap which had really good flavors and I had a cobb salad, which is pretty hard to mess up. The atmosphere is cool and I would like to come back here and experience the night life. They have a cool patio that overlooks the street, and a pool table on the back patio.

So last night my roommates and I set out on an adventure into downtown Palm Springs with the ‘expectation bar’ set so low you could step over it. Most of the area actually came across quite dark for a Friday night, with not much activity in the streets even with the film festival in town. But behold, a beacon of light from atop a building caught our attention and the glorious large screen televisions fueled our curiosity as our hungry stomachs propelled us forward to this literal oasis in the surrounding area. As we rose up the stairway, the TVs began to multiply, all broadcasting bowl and basketball games. Upon entering the facility, a band was beginning to set up. The place was well let and had a great vibe about it. The bar tender was one of the finest bar tenders Ive come across, well ever really, both looking and skill wise. She had a great pulse on the entire place and not just what was happening at the bar. The owner and his wife were there and made it a point to introduce themselves to myself and my rommies and thanked us for coming in. I had a fabulous ‘Adult Grilled Cheese’ stuffed with bacon, sauteed onions, tomato, and a plethora of cheeses, while my counterparts indulged in burgers so huge a python would have a difficult time unlocking its jaw to get its mouth around it. The band was rockin bad-ass and played a great variety. It never got over crowded or stuffy, and even if it had, the facility offered a number of escapes outside which was home to billiards and shuffleboard. What a great surprise for the evening and to Palm Springs. Thanks for all who made our night very, very memorable, We will be back!

THEBESTSPORTSBARINPALMSPRINGS! Yep, I said it. We came here on New Years Day to watch the Packers game & I had a $ 25 gift certificate. We were greeted outside by some fellow local Packers fans. You already know its great when locals come to a bar right on the main drag. They have a super cool outside but covered upper deck which leads you inside to the main bar. We hung out all Sunday morning and if this tells you anything… came back that same night! Mel was our waitress/bartender in the morning and she is awesome!!! We came back that night and she was still there, but remembered us and was super cool! In the morning we had parmesan fries which were good with the ranch dressing, then the wasabi seared ahi(its literally coated with a layer of wasabi), and the shrimp ceviche — all great! We downed a bunch of their chevala(I think) style bloody beers. Salted rim, bud light with clamato, tabasco, worcestershire, squeezed limes and pepper on top. AMAZING!!! We had like 7 of those in the morning and came back for a couple that night! Next time we’re in Palm Springs this will be the only bar we’ll come to! Kudos to Mel, keep it up you’re great!

For $ 21 for three drinks(a girly cocktail + 2 goose&tonics) and a chill place to watch the game(in fact, my FIRST football game at a bar — !!) in Palm Springs? This place is a winner! They have many, many TVs hanging all over, so whatever game you want to watch is sure to be on. Lots of locals hanging around, so you know you’re not wasting your money at a tourist trap. I’d definitely come back when I’m in town to just chill out for a few hours and watch the game. Won’t be ordering my girly pink signature cocktail again though — was not that impressive.
