I was just here for a work trip and split a meal with a coworker. They charge a $ 30 split charge to share a meal… $ 90 to share a mediocre $ 54 meal is completely ridiculous and the manager was in no way helpful. Beware.

The people there wore very attentive and polite, the sushi is good, drinks are good. I hade visited places like this before and for me is very important to have a good balance from service and the quality of their food. Teppanyaki is a good idea for a good time and Marriott with Mikado can offer you that. Oh and they also they offer a boat ride in the evenings.

Had a wonderful evening Christmas 2015. Food was great, cooked perfectly and the service with Martine was top notch. We will be back!!!

Please do your stomach a favor and go somewhere else. This is a horrible place to eat. They pour huge amounts of oil all over your food, it doesn’t matter if you ordered steak, shrimp or fried rice. I would assume that the oil is more like Crisco than olive oil. Apart from drenching everything in oil, the quality of even raw food is lacking. I had ahi poke — ahi was tasteless. The medium rare filet mignon was passable. The tiger prawns were farm raised — horrible taste that your body could feel right away. Entertainment — yes, if you come for that, order a drink and watch other people pay huge amounts of money to feel sick. Very entertaining.

Good food with entertainment! The hibachi chefs are funny… a great place for a special event.

Good food. We came for the hibachi dinner, and were seated within five minutes(there were 5 of us). Our chef came out shortly, which was to our surprise as the other chef took at least 30 minutes. We had been to this place before, and I can safely say we had the funniest chef of all time. He told many jokes, and wasn’t afraid to slip in a few not table appropriate jokes, which was very amusing. He cooked our food to perfection, and gave everyone a fun time. Can’t wait to come back!

3.5 stars — super fun place to go for teppanyaki with a bunch of friends. The teppanyaki chefs obviously know how to entertain the diners and it left us laughing and smiling through most of the meal. Food is good quality and but the sirloin was actually the best part of the selections. We also ordered sushi and sashimi entrees and they were quite good as well but sushi seemed to have a bit more rice than needed. Great place and they have plenty(10+) teppanyaki tables, so lots of room but reservations are recommended else you’ll get stuck in the not as good lounge area to eat sushi only.

Mikado tries but falls short of being an authentic japanese establishment. Their service is decent but flavor is lackluster. I’d compare the quality to airplane food.

Every time we come to Palm Springs. We usually always come to eat at Mikado it’s always a great experience taking the boat ride from the lobby of the hotel to the restaurant The food was okay the show was kind of entertaining pretty normal how it usually is but the other staff as far as our waitresses were absolutely horrible they didn’t know the menu they i asked how much a glass of scotch was and it was really over priced then i asked for something else and they told me its 3 dollars less if i don’t want ice. i lost it they told me they charge for ice in all their alcoholic drinks thats just nuts. i am very disappointed we won’t be back

Last minute stop for appetizers. We were in and out but the food was good and the place was hopping! We’ll be back for sure!

We had a great time and fantastic food. Sean the manager was very nice polite and friendly. James was a great server and Ricki the Chef was amazing. I recommend this for the entire family. If you like sushi, Yama is the best sushi chef in the desert! Enjoy and have a great time!

I wasn’t expecting much based on the less than stellar reviews – but was pleasantly surprised by the sushi here. Tuna sashimi was great – sliced thick and fresh. Crunchy roll was divine, as was the soft shell crab. Spicy tuna roll and take sashimi were above average. Overall, a nice dinner option at the J W Marriott. Tip: take the boat ride(available 5−9pm), then do dinner.

Food was ok… Atmosphere very nice! I was shocked that you are charged $ 5 for rice with hibachi… Especially when paying $ 40 plus for a meal!

Hotel lobby sushi??? wasn’t expecting much but will say I was impressed. Food was good. Service was great. It was the weekend so there was live music at the bar and totally happening until 11 am.

Food and service are both excellent! Filet mignon is AMAZING and melts in your mouth! I highly recommend! Been here twice and worth every penny. I recommend taking the free gondola ride from the hotel to the restaurant. Just makes your night that much more fun! I also recommend making reservations. It’s not uncommon for them to be fully committed for the night! Enjoy!

Dined here teppanyaki style on a weeknight. I make reservations since they get booked even during the summer. I arrived early and the hostess was kind enough to seat me with a group within minutes after arriving. Ordered the filet mignon and lobster which was $ 50.00 The chef started out preparing shrimp appetizer for everyone and veggies. He then followed making the fried rice and steaks and then the lobster, scallop and shrimp entrees. The stir fried filet was tender and the lobster was tasty and effortless to eat — since it was also stir fried. The meal included hot green tea and green tea ice cream. Service was spot on from the beginning to the end of the meal. Overall, a good dining experience and convenient, since I was staying at the Marriot Desert Springs Villas which runs shuttles to the hotel every 20 minutes.

Came to Mikado during Palm Springs Restaurant Week, to enjoy to cuisine… and the low low. But honestly, the prices aren’t really high here. :LOCATION: — Palm Desert. Not Palm Springs. — Inside the enormous compound that is JW Marriott Desert Springs. When you enter the property go to the right. — We were running late, so we didnt get a chance to take the boat… not sure where you would board the boat. Yes, there is a boat you can take to the restaurant, arrive 30 minutes early. — Near the Golf course, and pool area. :AMBIANCE: — Luxurious, Welcoming with an Asian flare. Since there is a lot of water at this property, its as if Karate Kid meet Waterworld. Rushing water, lakes, streams. Amazing. There is a bar area in the front. But all of the seating is Teppenyaki style, so you will be seated with people you may not know. The couple sitting next to us was hilarious. Happy Anniversary. :FOOD: Palm Springs Restaurant $ 38, three-course meal. 1st Course — Ahi Poke(5 Star), The chunks of meat were phenomenal. Flavorful and fresh. 2nd Course — Steak and Shrimp. First, with every meal you get steamed or fried rice($ 5 extra). I opted for the fried rice, really good. The chef prepares EVERYTHING right there in front of your eyes. Also, with every entrée you get Shrimp Flambee. And the chance to catch the shrimp in your mouth. I nailed it first try. The steak is delicious, especially with the accompanying sauces. Shrimp equally amazing too. Comes with grilled veggies. You know so you feel healthy. 3rd Course — Green Tea Ice Cream. YUM. Doesn’t have a harsh aftertaste like regular green tea. :SERVICE: Service was outstanding. Our chef was world-class. Entertaining, competitive(lol there was a hip-hop challenge with knives… uh, yeah it went down), and he cooked everything perfectly. Everything about this place was amazing. Great choice for a date, family meal or just to try something different.

Didn’t have reservation so could not eat at the restaurant. So we went to sushi bar. We asked the chef to surprise us. He made us three different Sushi plates and they were all delicious. The bar tender was great he explained different sakes and gave us tasting until we liked one. Definitely will eat here again. And now I know what to do at a sushi bar just leave it to the chef.

It was worth the hype. A very interesting experience for the desert. My husband and I took my mom here last year for her birthday and it was an unforgettable experience. We took the boat ride to the restaurant, which was super cool. I didn’t even realize that a huge lake was there! We were shown all kinds of waterfowl including a black swan. We made reservations for the restaurant which is suggested. We had a drink while we waited. My mom had a fun cosmopolitan where they used dry ice and it appeared to be smoking. We had a great bottle of Malbec. Then we were shown to our table and our waiter kept our drinks full. The chef was entertaining. All of the food was delicious! The chef wrote a happy birthday message in rice to my mom which was very cool because she had a blast! They topped it off with some delicious green tea icecream. Oh my! It was good. The restaurant was pricey, but you knew that going into it. It was perfect for this special occasion.
