Good 50s diner vibe and a great place to get a French dip sandwich. The roll was butter toasted with an alright portion of thinly sliced beef and melted cheese. The French fries were good skin on style which I like. I saw several micro brews on tap and they have several TVs for watching the game. THEYARECLOSEDJUNE till OCTOBER

We loved sitting at the counter for lunch today. We ordered the fried pickles to start and a mint milkshake. Both real yummy! Pickles a tad greasy but my husband didn’t seem to mind. Definitely split a burger or sandwich if you get an appetizer and shake like we did. We split the pulled pork sandwich and it was plenty! You can add on a house salad for only $ 4 so we did that too because I wanted to try it — fancy for a house salad with blue cheese, walnuts, apples! Loved it all but the dressing. Boooo. Didn’t taste homemade and too bitter for my tastes. Next time we’ll try the fish n chips or a burger. And maybe a glass of wine that they have on TAP! Fun atmosphere, good service, generous portions and tasty food overall. We’ll come back next time we’re in the area.

Not that good. Chili fries very greasy. Pastrami was full of fat. Place was very clean. Service also was good.

I wont write a 5 star review for a place unless I can recommend it to my own friends and family and this place has earned it. Hands down the best burger I have ever tried. The Juicy Lucy was beyond flavorful and just as it’s name states… JUICY! The service was second to none. The manager even came to check on us to see how we liked our food. Must visit when in the area! We were driving back home from AZ when we found it and are now planning our next trip around a visit back here HA! Enjoy guys!

We were driving from LA to Phoenix and we picked this place completely by chance and boy were we pleasantly surprised. This place is amazing. I shared a burger and a French dip with my friend. I have no idea, why some people gave it such low rating. Maybe they’re just uncultured and were expecting your typical bad diner food. The burger was perfect. It was obvious that the meat was freshly grounded(I know that cause I ground my own beef at home and I can taste the difference). Everything else on the burger was just right. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Then the French dip. It was also amazing. It was bug, but the meat was juicy and flavorful. I had a side of salad, and it was very fresh and delicious. The chef came by to make sure everything was okay which we appreciated. He told us that they have cobbler for desert and that he prepared it from scratch that morning. I wish had left some room for desert. My two other friends said their food was amazing. We liked it so much that we decided to eat there on our way back but unfortunately they were close because of Superbowl. That was the only disappointment.

Great food and Excellent service. The Pastrami was better than The Hat and their French Dip beats Philippe’s. The Peach and Blueberry Cobblers were unbelievable! Glad to see my Los Angeles favorites in the desert!

So where do I start … French dip was delish, patty melt needed a little more patty, burger way over done, chocolate malt was a thin shake. When we asked for a redo it came back with less material and flavor then when we started. The fries were good, today. The person checking on us didn’t pay attention to our words and didn’t seem interested in making sure we were happy.

OMG! Just went there for lunch today, first time. LOVEDLOVEDLOVEDIT! The new chef has only been there 8 days and when I asked him what to order, he said that if I love pastrami with a great peppered flavor, order it. Or go for the French dip. So my husband and I ordered one of each. We were NOT disappointed. I couldn’t eat the pastrami fast enough! And he said the fries were fried 3 different ways before they are served — luscious. We will be back… and with friends. The new chef is adding meatloaf, fish & chips and a cheese & bacon stuffed burger to the dinner menu. But desert dwellers — if you want to go for dinner, they are only open until 8pm(not 9 pm like it says on Unilocal.) Get going — you won’t find better pastrami anywhere!!!

Had lunch here this weekend and it was a cute place, with a retro feel. The chocolate malt was very good. I had the chili cheese hot dog and my husband had the pastrami sandwich — both of which were good. The staff were all really friendly and made you feel welcomed. Also has counter seating with tv if you don’t want a table or booth. A cute little place.

Perfect place to watch a game and get some solid grub. I came in on a Monday evening and they had the Dodger playoff game going along with Monday night football. My waitress was friendly and attentive. I started off with a all meat chili cheese dog and followed with the fried shrimp platter which was served with crispy hot fries and cole slaw. All the food was tasty and was awesome comfort food. I topped off the meal with a piece of warm apple that was yummy. Make it a point to stop in here, you won’t have any regrets.

Came across Mic N Moe’s tonight when we were headed home from my son’s football practice. On a whim decided to just have dinner there. WHAT A GREATWHIM! We will DEFINITELY be back. My teenage son who is quite the hamburger critic said this is absolutely the best burger he’s had since we moved to the desert. My wife had the Wedge Salad which had a very classy balsamic glaze drizzle on it… OUTSTANDING! And I had their Southern Fried Chicken… amazing…if you like REALFRIEDCHICKEN this is the place. My son also had a ½ order of onion rings which were fresh battered and fried… so excellent. All of this for only $ 30.00. Met the General Manager, Matt, who was present and insured a great experience. My bottom line advice… GOTOMIC N’ MOE’S…you will not be disappointed.

All the food was good. Had the Turkey and tasted great. Real Potato French fries had great flavor. Didn’t like the wheat beer too light and no wheat flavor.

A great burger and hot dog place with a touch of class. Like an old fashioned diner, but without all the chrome and fake 50s décor. Besides that, great salads and pastrami melts. Highly recommended for fun, yummy food when you’re around Cook Street near the freeway.

Located just around the block from our timeshare resort. If you’re a big fan of joints like Fatburger, Fuddruckers, The Hat, Johnnie’s Pastrami and such, you’re going to feel right at home here. Heart attack haven? Sure, you’re gonna die anyway. Clean, well kept… but seemed a little empty when we entered. ESPN was on the big HD screens. It was 112 degrees outside but nice and cool inside. The craft beers, soft drinks and Arnold Palmers were flowing freely. Our server(there was only one) was attentive to our needs and kept the glasses filled. The offerings were abundant, hot and satisfying. Stuff is ala carte, sides don’t come with your order. Only au jus for your French Dip or pickle slices with your Pastrami Dip. Like the others said, the fries aren’t that crispy and were a little under cooked. I think they should take french fry lessons from In-N-Out burger. I strongly recommend the homemade onion rings, the pastrami and the Juicy Lucy burger, very tasty. Like your girlfriend. Mark this joint on your GPS/Smartphone whenever you’re looking for a tasty bite off the I-10 fwy.

Upon entering I wasn’t sure whether we were supposed to sit ourselves or wait, we awkwardly stood in the entrance for a few minutes before a waiter or buss boy sat us. The atmosphere is great! Really cute and clean! The food is where this place looses stars… I shared a pastrami sandwich with my mom and it was a good size however the taste was greasy and lets just say ‘ehh’ definitely not worth the $ 10 something we paid for it. We also got the fried pickles, assuming they’d be enough to share… wrong! There were very very few in the basket it was like a very small side– steer clear! The fries my dad got were great and make sure to tell them ‘fries well done’ otherwise they come out a tad too soft. All in all I don’t think ill be coming back to this place, and sad to sag because I was hoping for better. Till next time… chow

Dude. A French dip served with a St. Bernadus?! DEAL. 110% recommend this place. Mix a little 50s diner + burgers, pastrami and dips + awesome beer(craft and Belgian) = this place. French dip was phenomenal. Great for kids too, good food options for the little ones. Oh yeah… Excellent malts too.

Pastrami, all the way! Me and a buddy had the pastrami and ordered onion rings. We ordered beer on tap and our server was very attentive. She checked on us and made sure we were ok. We will come back and try the french dip.

Mic ‘n Moe’s is a fairly new establishment on Cook Street across from the CSUSB campus in Palm Desert. The sign said«pastrami» and«French dip» which sounded pretty good to me. So, we walk in the door on the south side of the place, facing the parking lot. Immediately we are confronted by a lunch counter and an open kitchen right behind. Turn right and there are some tables and booths. My wife and I like booths.(OK wise guy — I said«booths,» not«booze.») We see immediately that this is not a cheap-o place because there are cloth napkins and nice knives and forks. Yellow and maroon on the walls with a few touches of blue. White tables. Movie star pictures and movie posters on the walls. Two flat-screen TVs, so it’s not really a sports bar. Late ‘50’s — early ‘60’s songs discreetly in the background. Bill Hailey’s «Rock Around the Clock,» The Coasters«Yackety-Yack,» Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, that sort of thing. But the place isn’t Keedy’s so it’s OK but don’t think of this as an old-fashioned diner. Not even close. Not even Ruby’s or Richie’s. The menu has a selection of hamburgers starting at $ 7.00, various hot dogs from around $ 5.00 but the«Johnnie’s Pastrami Dip» was $ 10.50. Ouch. We inquired about the size and the server(Manny) said it was big enough to split, so we opted for that. Nearly everything is a la carte, so we asked for onion rings for another $ 4.50. A Coke and Dr. Pepper added another $ 5.00 to the tab, bringing us up to an even $ 20.00, less tax. Well, the pastrami was OK. Not the best I’ve ever had, but OK. My wife asked«where’s the dip?» and Manny said it was already dipped in it, but he brought us out a couple of little bowls of boiling-hot au jus. The«onion rings» were not big, fat, crisp things like you might get at Islands, Red Robin or even Applebee’s — it was a mass of skinny, greasy onions all fried together and stuck together. I advise to skip those and get some fries or something else instead. I should mention that at 3 p.m. there were two cooks and only one server. So service was kind of slow. We had to ask for refills on the sodas. And it took awhile to get our check. My wife snagged a couple of place mats for kids and we entertained ourselves by playing the games and puzzles while waiting. So, overall, OK but maybe with better service and real onion rings it could be a fun place to eat.

I have been skeptical about visitng after reading many of the reviews. But after winning a lunch for two we thought giving it a whirl wouldn’t hurt. We actually came in with our Familia of Five to devour some lunch. When you walk in there is nowhere to wait. If you are in a large group forget it. There is only one section where they could throw three tables together to accomodate you. If someone else is already there you are S.O.L. The kitchen area and the wrap around walk up bar area seating is expansive. The problem is it takes away from the other seating area making it seemed cramped and claustrophobic. Then again, maybe that was the idea because they have some good beers on tap and they are not cheap for what you are served. I had the turkey burger and we shared a basket of onion rings. Both were very good. The kids had a grilled cheese and a chicken fingers. My eldest had the chopped salad and he added chicken. It was GONE. My wife had the tuna melt and she brought half of it home. I also ordered a Troubador Triple IPA which was great. The serving size was not even a pint and they nailed me for $ 8. This is Manhattan prices. I know, I just returned from a trip in April. On a last note, I’ll mention a pet peeve of mine. They have tables scooted up against the glass walls facing Portola at the back. The aluminum frame is FILTHY which leaves a bad impression about the cleanliness of this establishment. At night, if it was cleaned consistently it would not look this way. You just have to pull the tables out to get access. There are other choices for us as a family and I can get as good or better beer selections somewhere else for much less. It’s a little pricey for what you get but it was decent. It will not graduate to our rolodex status.
