So we stumbled on this place on the way to Kona, we were greeted by JC the chef. OMG the food was highlight of the whole trip. Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection, the smoked pork had great texture and flavor, and the beef of the burger literally melted in your mouth after the huge burst of flavor. She had white vinegar with chilis in a greygoose bottle that i was scepticle of at the beginning, but after dousng my sticky white rice, the vinegary heat just made me feel happy feelings all over. JC was funny, sweet, and super laid back. The smoothie shack across the way was bonkers as well. Cant wait to go back to Hilo to see my new friends! Best of luck!

1÷10÷16 really late on the review. We got lost on out way to Kona and stumbled upon this awesome little shack. JC, the cook, is super friendly! The beef is grass fed so the burgers are AMAZING! Highly recommend eating here! Friendly service and fresh tasting food!

This shack is located at the end of the road to Kalapana. There are several others in the same area, you just have to follow the signs. We got the grilled mahimahi with rice($ 13, cash only). It was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Great meal.

Wow… WOW! We were actually shocked! We shared the Mahi Mahi plate which came with rice and mac salad(of course). This is the BIGGESTPORTIONOFFISH we have had on the island! My guy and I shared(he is not a small eater). The mahi mahi is seasoned to perfection and grilled in lemon juice bath! My mouth waters as I write. She killed this dish! LOVEDIT! The burger the guy behind us was scarfing looked great, too. But, I would drive back down just for the fish!

My whole family loved this place! Highy recommend the MahiMahi plate with brown rice and mac salad. So delicious, we were obsessed with this meal and the pleasant atmosphere at Kalapana. Excellent staff and very friendly people. Worth the drive! Enjoy the recent lava flow after lunch.
