The food is very yummy. i liked it here so much that i came back but had a bad second time experience. I sat in the front and the guys were Not attentive at all the guys working are either looking at their phones, the tv, talking about girls they hooked up with and how big the shit they took this morning was, literally. All are things I could go without when going out to have a dining experience. Really I felt like They didn’t care we were customers at all they may as well throw our food at us and tell us to get out. Maybe they just need better management. but I must say I came in before months ago and sat in the back area and was happy with the help of a very patient and attentive young lady. by the way i wrote this review months ago and i just forgot to post it.

I was a fan of Mogans, but, alas, it closed last week. It was sold to the owner of Chez Mimi, and we hope that it will still be a good place to go for coffee and breakfast.

Our waiter, and everyone that worked there were super nice. Food was filling, but the food lacked something. All of us were like, «eh, so so.» I would go back and try a different dish if I was in the neighborhood. Bottom line: It would be a great place to just sit on the porch, take in some sun, with a coffee and muffin and mooch some internet.

Very convenient if you live in the Highlands. There weren’t too many options on the menu, and I eat vegan and have food allergies. I got the tofu curry sauté over brown rice. It was good. No great shakes, though. I’d eat here again, at least while I still live in the Highlands.

Pros: Station 23/Ahi tuna Sandwitch/sweet potato is very very good. Cons: Very busy during weekend but worth seeing frenzy movement. I think coffee is over average

This is our good to place for food on Sundays. always a reliable place for breakfast pleasures! The kids like it and it’s an open area. Omelets and burritos work for us. Usually we will go hiking at will Rogers and then follow up with dome food here. Station 21 omelet is our favorite. Mom will meet up with us here after having some alone time. It’s generous portions and priced well. Definitely gets busy. We come for a late lunch and it tends to quiet down by them. Be creative about parking.

I was going hiking in Will Rogers State Park and I searched Unilocal for a breakfast place in the area and up popped Mogan’s Café. It’s a pleasant place with two dining areas and a patio. I ordered their Station 23 omelette. It was a very large omelette with spicy chicken and a cilantro pesto with cheese. It’s topped with some pico and sour cream. It came with toast and home fries. The omelette was so large that I didn’t finish it — strange for me — but I didn’t want to feel laden with food while hiking. The pesto had a great flavor and made the dish. Service was excellent, but there were only a few people in the restaurant.

The mother of all Warm Brownie Sundaes, served in a wine goblet and distinguished by being served with an actual hot out-of-the-oven brownie, hot fudge really hot, and big ol’ walnuts — you would have to go to Portland, Oregon to find a better sundae. Yes really, call it the Mother Sundae of California, as I would nickname it. To fill you prior, I resoundingly recommend the Grilled Ahi Tuna sandwich, but please take note: regularly it is served on an onion pocket roll that turns rapidly soggy; you have to specifically ask for a substitute like a grilled sourdough bun or sourdough roll. Make that request, and you will have one fantastic sandwich. Also a side of sweet potato fries, put that in your order. In short, one of the best lunches you will have anywhere in Southern California.

Man, I haven’t written a review in a long time, but was disappointed in Mogan’s my last stint. I’ve learned to accept their prices, everything in the palisades is a little pricier than normal probably b/c of the high rent, so mogan’s is comparable. Having said that, they aren’t that far off of the pricing of their neighbor Taste, who’s food is much better. The impetus for writing this was one service issue. I ordered a scramble(in their defense, it is possible that I meant to order a scramble and didn’t specify). Received an omelet, told them that I wanted a scramble(more politely than that though). They took it back to the kitchen and immediately came back with my scramble, which was clearly my omelet cut up, in slices, not even scrambled. Although disappointing, I do see some humor in what they did. Maybe they are just good at telling a joke, but not a funny joke when you’re paying $ 15 for a scramble. Since I’m ranting, is there any chance that items on a kids menu can be healthy items like they do at the grand orange in SM?

We had a motorcycle meet here this morning. Good place for breakfast if you don’t mind the cost. The food was good but the coffee wasn’t great. It’s more of an ambience place thing rather than the food here. I have had better breakfasts elsewhere. There is only one restroom for men and this is shared with employees so in the morning… maybe have to wait?

Another day, another Groupon. To sum it up, the food was just alright. Like others have said, overpriced and mediocre food. I had«The Kobe,» which is eggs benedict with lox. It just didn’t blow me away. Other dishes we had at our table were The JJ frittata, and I think the Sunset Blvd omelette. I thought those two were better. The coffee was pretty bland also. There wasn’t much taste to it, and could have used another espresso shot or something. In my large, it seemed like there was one, maybe one and a half, espresso shot(s) and it was just diluted with steamed milk. The service was decent. The waiters could have been more attentive, but they were probably a tad understaffed. It took us a little while to get someone to move an umbrella by our table because the sun was beating down on us, and it took a while for us to catch someone’s attention for our check.

After using a groupon for brunch here, I still ended up paying a bit much, definitely saved some money, but more than I’d like to pay. I ordered this amazing baked omelette thing — the J.J. It’s called a fritata. I can’t recall much about it, besides it being thoroughly delicious. Sunny weather out on the patio. It’s a great place to sit and chat. We sat under three umbrellas just to be in the shade and the waiter was so courteous about helping us move them. :) If I had the money, I would keep coming back here — even if not for the fritatas and omelettes, for the service. !

Yes, I frequent this place because it’s close to home. And yes, it’s overpriced for VERY mediocre food! I have had both breakfast and lunch, because I enjoy sitting in the outdoor patio area. Then staff is quick and efficient, not always friendly, and the food is really Bllllllaaaaaaahhhhhh… What is up with the generic pastries in their display? Looks like my 4 year old nephew baked them. Being Palisades, why wouldn’t they order in some appetizing ones like Peet’s coffee does???

I used to get breakfast, coffee, lunch here all the time when I worked in a home office in the Summit Highlands. Here is an instance where mediocre food can pass off at higher prices because of location. Location, location, location… because if you work in the highlands, there are only so many — few — places you can go for lunch. It’s either here, or the Jack in the Box, KFC, Subway, or that Mexican place I can’t remember. I’ve tried many things during my two years in the Palisades and the only thing I liked on the menu is the bagel, lox and cream cheese. It’s hard to go wrong with something that easy…

My hubby and I were starving after a rigorous Sunday hike. I recalled passing a café on our way to the trailhead. We circled back to the unpretentious-looking strip mall and were pleasantly surprised. We ate on the pleasant patio, which was sunny and breezy. The iced tea was freshly brewed and delicious. We split The Roque, a hot turkey sandwich grilled on rye with cheese and avocado. OMG, it melted in my mouth. We also ordered the Southwestern Chicken Wrap, which was good, though a couple degrees less amazing. We mightily resisted the tempting sweet potato fries and ordered side salads instead. Everything tasted organic and delish. We can’t wait to go back.

Mogan’s Café is my favorite stop when I’m in the Palisades area. I pretty much always order the following: –Seared Ahi-Tuna sandwich –Avocado Toast –Turkey Burger

Smoothies… get one.($ 5) Made with frozen yogurt, apple juice and your choice of two fruits(I had raspberry and banana). Delightful. If you happen to hike Paseo Miramar, this café is like a mirage(especially when you are a fool and don’t bring water), but rest assured, it’s real and so is its menu. Hopefully it maintains its charm and popularity as its new neighbor, Taste, will undoubtedly steal its thunder.

Yesterday, Monday morning, Labor Day. I was enroute to Chatsworth via the PCH to Topanga Canyon route. I go for scenic rather than freeways. Stopped at Mogan’s for breakfast, couldn’t wait any longer to eat. It’s an attractive place, located in the strip plaza across Sunset from the Lake Shrine, on the road that leads up to the Highlands. Take a drive up there into the Palisades Highlands sometime if you haven’t been, btw, cuz it’s so high it scared the crap outta me. But oh the views go forever… About Mogan’s: It was an older crowd mostly, like old enough for those walkers with tennis balls. I sat on the outdoor patio, which overlooks some green hills, very nice. Service was great. I didn’t want a huge meal, so I ordered 2 scrambled eggs a la carte at 1.95 each. English muffin was also 1.95, so all total…$ 6.50 for the food. Eggs were cooked hard, slightly browned, just the way I like ‘em. Muffin was perfect, not too soft. I was happy! The whole beautiful day lay ahead, with adventures in store as I roamed the far edges of the Valley, around Lake Chatsworth(reviews & pics to come). The whole perfect day began with a perfectly cooked lil breakfast. Three and a half stars is about right. Other menu selections seemed a bit pricey, but this is the Palisades after all, where everything is ‘spensive. But the parking was all free, and the lot was big. Street parking is free, too, and the street… is big… haha. Mogan’s is a full-service restaurant, not just a brekkie place, and the locals seem to appreciate it. There are appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, specialty entrees, stir-fry dishes, a few Mexican selections, sides that include sweet potato fries & spinach(yum), and desserts. Inside the entrance is a little bakery case, and also a chess board. Cute. My fave Mogan’s memory of this day: the elderly dude sitting at the table next to mine, slight and skinny as he was, polished off a HUGE burger with some kind of crunchy chips on the side, a whole big pile of them. He devoured that ginormous plate of food as I discretely side-glanced in admiration. My table faced a fountain, into which I tossed a couple pennies as I was leaving. What did I wish for?: X Maybe it had to do with staying skinny while eating everything in sight… hehe…

In the interest of full disclosure I live down the street for Mogan’s so the convenience factor definitely plays into my regard for this restaurant. I like their sandwiches the best. My favorite is The Roque which is a hot turkey sandwich with cheese and avocado. But they have several other good sandwiches like their club. I also like their home made potato chips which don’t have much salt on them making them good in my book. I staff is nice and are fine to make substitutions to menu items. I would advice skipping coffee here, its only so-so though my husband raves about the chocolate muffins so maybe if you get one it will make up for the so-so coffee.

Ok food, ok service, great setting. I came here for a late lunch over the weekend. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was not what I expected — it was the size of a butterflied card deck and something that thin is hard to cook medium/medium rare. I ordered over easy eggs and they were fine. The home style fries were good. My dining companion had the vegetarian panini which he proclaimed wonderful! We must have had the same apathetic waiter as one of the other reviewers. The setting was a private patio with wood topped tables and big patio umbrellas. It was a perfect day to eat outside — warm, sun poking through the marine haze.
