Modo Mio Cucina Rustica

My boyfriend and I were in the area and looking for an Italian place to eat for our anniversary. We picked this place based on the reviews and indication that it was «romantic». I wouldn’t necessary call it romantic; lights could have been lower, tables were a bit close together, and the tile floor makes it seem more casual and louder. And even though our server changed halfway through our 8pm dinner on a Sunday, presumably because they were very slow and sent people home early, we had a lovely time. The food was really good. We split the spinach salad to start, and then I had the vegetable pasta with tagliatelle subbed in. I don’t remember the name, but we got some sort of chocolate torte with pecan crust, which was delicious but very rich. Everything paired well with Chianti I ordered.
Overall, we had a great experience even if the ambiance wasn’t as romantic as we’d hoped.

Highly recommend this place! Excellent service, food was hot and delicious, and the atmosphere is relaxing. The broccoli soup is the best, everything I ordered was awesome! A+++

This place was great. We were there on an Monday, it was quiet and intimate. I had the white fish – fresh and delicious.

Lemon, garlic, butter, cream, and wine. All applied to pasta, protein and veggies with a touch of a master. Enough said. What? Is there more? Worth the effort for a visit.

Modo Mio is such a good italian restaurant! The food is exceptional, I had the best gnocchi ever, the service is amazing, the location is very nice… Very nice place to celebrate or to have fun and eat well

What a fantastic restaurant! This place served me the best Italian cuisine I had in a while.
I went there with my husband the other night, we shared a bruschetta and a mozzarella salad to start, I had the veggie Lasagna, my husband the gluten free fusilli pasta and we finished with a homemade tiramisu… every single dish was absolutely delicious, tasty and fresh! With a special A++ mention to the lasagna… oh gosh, my mouth is watering just by thinking of it… so goooo!
On top of that, the team is very friendly, the place looks nice and authentic, with a good wine list and good music.
I definitely recommend Modo Mio.
I might go there tonight to have the Veggie lasagna again because I’m addicted now ;)

Amazing food, great service. Definitely stop and try! In the summer, eat outside. Listen to the suggestions given by staff, they are spot on.

My friends surprised me for my birthday and took me to «Modo Mio» Restaurant. The whole staff was amazing and always attentive to the needs of the customers as if we were in a very upscale restaurant. Prices on the menu are very reasonable for «handmade pasta» and the location of the restaurant. I personally had «Penne Al Salmone» and did not regret my choice thanks to Sean’s advice, our great waiter ! The Gnocchis were amazing and so was the «Bruschetta»!!!
The place was somehow crowded but was not very noisy which I loved, especially after a day at work where you want to relax and unwind.
I’ll definitely be back there, maybe for lunch next time !

C est mon resto préféré à Los Angeles!!! La décoration est top et le service est juste parfait! Je vous recommande les gnocchis faits maison, ils sont délicieux. Mais pour y avoir été plusieurs fois, tout est très bon et très frais! Vous êtes sûr de passer une bonne soirée

Great stafff and very attentive!

The food was delicious and served piping hot. The service was top notch! Quiet, dark, quaint atmosphere… The wine choices are great. Order the better than sex chocolate. pecan tart…

Portions are small, but not extravagantly overpriced. Nice for a relaxing evening. Food is good too.

Great food! And great service, at least, when Tony is your server. They have the best Cesar around and butternut squash purée is fantastic. Their chicken dishes & veggie lasagna are wonderful too!

Chicken Siciliano (not on menu but ask for it and they will make it) trust me. it is amazing. Gnocci= insane. ask for extra sauce. and the bolognese with angel hair. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but those are my favorites. Really nice feel in the restaurant and really friendly staff. There is not much to complain about – amazing, fresh, italian food and great service. Perfect. Definitely a ‘must’ try.

Food is amazing, stuff is very helpful and kind, atmosphere is cozy and relax! Now I know why a lot of Hollywood stars loves this place. When we came to this restaurant Julia Roberts was seating wright next to our table :) it was fun :)
PS: I recommend to order a tiramisu (for dessert)! It’s UNBELIEVABLE DELICIOUS!!!

Service is attentive and friendly, but unfortunately, the food is modo mediocre. Prices are fairly high for what is essentially chain-​restaurant level Italian fare.

Fiancée: This is the best tiramisu I’ve ever had.
Me: This is the best anything I’ve ever had.
Fiancée: That seems like it might be a stretch.
Me: If I could do anything at any given time, it would be to eat this tiramisu.
Fiancée: I think you’re drunk.
Apparently the wine was also delicious.

En vacances à Los Angeles pour quelques jours, je cherchais un bon restaurant italien pas trop loin de mon Hotel. J’ai trouvé cet endroit tout simplement sensationnel !
L’atmosphère est très romantique avec les bougies sur les tables. Les chaises sont vraiment très cozy avec ce velours rouge. La nourriture, quant à elle, est exceptionnelle. J’ai choisi des lasagnes végétariennes vraiment délicieuses. Je me suis laissé tenter ensuite par le tiramisu fait maison, vraiment divin.

Great service! Delicious food! My meal was excellent, it was lasagna. Next I will try the tiramisu, it looks like amazing.
If you love italian food, this is the place!

Friendly service, easy parking in the structure below.
The food was just ok.
We ordered a special pasta and the seafood risotto.
Rice was way overcooked and lacked flavor.
The tagliatelle was a little better.

If this restaurant had a better location it would be packed. We love Modo Mio. I’ve never had a bad meal there, or service. The food is well prepared, fresh and generous. The bummer is that every time we’re in there it seems that we are the youngest people there. And we are in our late 40’s! It seems to have a reputation with the older generations. Those diners seem to be very sophisticated but I wish that there were younger diners discovering Modo Mio. If they have a chance to move closer to street level, and perhaps change their name — just a thought — they might get more fans, like us.
I would suggest investing a very good photographer to shoot excellent interior and food photos for this Unilocal site. The photos are very dated and not in any way appealing.

Excellent food in a pleasant setting. The crowd is older but stylish old not geriatric, nursing home, early bird special old. In other words, affluent couples who keep in shape and exercise into their late 70s. But you’re not going to find anyone under 50 here unless with parents or grandparents.
The demographic has to do in part with the astronomical cost of real estate in what was once upper middle class beach enclave and now hardcore 1% with pockets of 2%. And there is SO much Italian in Brentwood – Toscana, Divino, Osteria Latini just to name three – that Brentwood and north of Montana Santa Monica folks aren’t going to drive to the Palisades for Modo Mio. It’s a real Palisades place, therefore, and the older side of the Palisades. You rarely if ever see a kid in this restaurant walking by and my father goes to Chase to deposit stuff fairly regularly, so I do walk by a lot.
The restaurant has a loyal clientele and while in the Palisades with somewhat limited options (one of which is just to drive to Santa Monica, Malibu or Brentwood), there are now other choices for Italian in the Palisades and people are still eating here. This has to mean something.
Modo Mio has been around at least 15 years (I ate here once in 1997) and prices have stayed the same much of that time. Modo Mio used to be considered the high-​end of Pacific Palisades but now, it’s downright reasonable if you stick with pastas and salad. If you go with meat, the entrees are still in the 20s for the most part and quite reasonable. (Oh, there’s one in Newport, apparently, but anyone who knows me knows I avoid the OC like an STD so I will never visit that location.)
Service is friendly but not fast. I ordered a disappointing Pali Pinot for 10/​glass. Switched to the 12/​glass Cab after that.
But my basic ravioli (spinach) in pink sauce for just 13 (at DINNER?!) was phenomenal. Just delicious and a big portion: 5 or 6 large ravioli. The special spinach soup was fine but nothing to write home about.
Fine execution of a solid and diverse menu.
I will be back. I don’t know why Dad avoids this place. He’s probably still in mourning (3 years later?!) from Guido’s closing. We need to push Dad to come in. The prices are good and it’s a pleasant vibe. Mom just needs to make clear that her husband is impatient and that he needs to have ordered within a few minutes of sitting down and that the check needs to come STAT once he has eaten his last bite.
They go to the Indian next door quite a bit (or they did until recently).
With two glasses of wine, pasta and soup, my bill was 42 pre-​tip. Totally reasonable.

La petite ville de Pacific Palisades est vraiment paisible.
