This review is specifically for the Deli Section of this store, great sandwiches and burgers, but i would highly recommend ordering the Halibut fish and chips if you get a chance. This place offers some of the best fish and chips i have had and now sets the bar for any fish and chips i order within any restaurant.

Fudge and smoked salmon for breakfast!!! Doesn’t get much better than that when you are road tripping and beach camping your way down the coast!

high prices, sure… but you’re on «the island» of Pacific City, so to be expected. $ 10-something for a frozen freshetta pizza… yeah…seriously. but they have what you need if you’re staying in town for a night or two. you’re pretty far away from either tillamook(fred meyers) or lincoln city(safeway), so yeah, you’re stuck with this place. they have fresh seafood, fudge, and ice cream… and well as a whole section of beachy stuff(shirts, etc.). 3 checkers open every time i went in, so they have really good staffing.

We spend a couple of weeks a year in Pacific City, at a beach house across the street from this store. It’s the only store in the north part of Pacific City, and has pretty much every«oops, we forgot…» need you might have on vacation. Groceries, a decent wine selections, dry goods such as bags, cleaning supplies, fire gear, etc., some produce. The store also offers fresh and cooked seafood as well as deli-style food such as sandwiches and burgers. The gift shop on the other side of the store has t-shirts and other Pacific City-themed apparel, along with toys and tourist-trap goods. They have an ice-cream counter that sells Tillamook ice cream by the cone or bowl in the deli area. As expected with a tourist town, the prices are steeper than what you’d find at a regular store(example: a small bottle of Pepto-Bismol costs about as much as a full-size bottle at a regular store). The staff are quite friendly and helpful, but often understaffed — usually 1 – 2 people working both counters; oftentimes, one of those people is working the grill/sandwich area, too, so when it’s busy, expect long lines. Three stars for friendly staff and convenience, minus 2 star for high prices and understaffing.

I totally agree with the previous review. We just came back from a few days visiting there also and had a bad experience there. I gave my daughter $ 5 and asked her to go down to the market to find a scrubber for my potatoes and all she could find was one of those green Scotch brand scrubbing pads. She went ahead and got it, and when I asked her for the change to the $ 5.00 I gave her she handed me $ 1.30. I was shocked that the scrubbing pad could be almost $ 4. When we looked at the receipt, it showed that the scrubbing pad was only $ 1.30. So the young girl at the register actually gave my daughter the amount that the scrubbing pad cost instead of the change for the $ 5. My daughter went back the following day to explain the situation and she was told that the person who helped her was not in that day. She took our receipt and continued to take down my daughter’s name and contact info on the receipt saying that they would have to look at their videos and see if my daughter actually gave her a five dollar bill. The girl then proceeded to the back to hand the receipt to a young man working there and explained something to him. As she was walking back the young man called her name, and when she looked back at him he lifted his hand and crumpled the receipt that had my daughter’s information on it and dropped it on the ground. The young girl at the register told him«Oh great, now the customer just saw you do that». Then she turned to my daughter and told her, «okay, well someone will be contacting you», which I really doubt they will. This is terrible customer service! It is not even the money, because we believe it must have been an honest mistake, but to think that the people working there could care less! I hope the owners of this market know what kind of people they are hiring and what kind of impression they are making of their market. Do not trust these people, they could care less! You are WAYBETTEROFF going to Chester’s Market which is not far away. They have much more available there!

Avoid this place at all costs — I should have heeded Josh J’s warning. We we just in town for a the weekend and had numerous problems. First, the kid behind the counter(who had been working there for a couple of years) didn’t know what shucked oysters looked like. Seriously, you work in a store that has a fish counter for a couple of years and don’t know what’s what? Second, the same kid charged use for 5lbs of onions when we bought two. Third, the machine he rang us up on didn’t work(or so they thought) and they rang us up again on another machine(this time catching the onion mistake). However, both of the charges went through. When we called back to get this corrected, the person who answered the phone said, «there’s nothing I can do for you honey, call back in 30 min.» The horrible customer service continued. Appears this was not just an off night, but a complete lack of professionalism and consideration for their customers. There is another great grocery store down the street from Grateful Bread — please consider them first.

This is really the only store in the north section of Pacific City, they have a nice selection of groceries and camping supplies, as well as a gift shop, pizza, deli, ice cream and seafood market. We were there on a sunny Saturday afternoon and they only had one register working and seemed only two people were running the whole place and it was packed! huge long line to check out, the girl who checked us out charged us for 4 packages of toilet paper when we only purchased 1, after we got back to the car and realized we were ripped off, we went back in and cut to the front of the line and they refunded us, but between that and the long line, we were not impressed. Maybe it’s staffed better during the high season?
