Taby’s Burger House

Just went here last week after a school function. This place is great EVERY SINGLE TIME I am there! I can’t say enough good things about it! I usually like to sit in the way back, and get that table every-​time. The burgers are great, even the Jr. burger is so big, you feel stuffed after eating it. I would love to try dessert there but never get a chance after eating my main meal! My only complaint is that certain specials are only offered on certain days! I love love LOVE the chicken pot pie, but I believe it’s only offered on a Saturday night? Not sure, I’ve had it a few times but I always whip open the menu in anticipation of seeing that little card in the slot saying «chicken pot pie»!!! If you have never been here, try it. You will not be disappointed! Breakfast, lunch or dinner is always delicious and you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing burgers, turkey burgers and chicken svoulaki french fries and onion rings the best we’ve ever tasted finished by the most delish strawberry cheesecake! Kathy was so sweet and her recommendations were on point! Go in you won’t be disappointed the food and service are 5 stars!!!

One of the few times in my life that I can legitimately say that I’ve experienced lousy treatment because of my ethnic background.
There’s nothing like a waiter intentionally giving you the wrong food because the Greek salad «appears to be out of your price range.» When my wife insisted that the Greek salad was the item we ordered, he kept saying, «But it’s $ 13.95.»
Eventually he threw up and his hands and yelled, «What do you want me to do?!»
To which we again responded, «give us what we ordered.»
The food itself was mediocre, overpriced, diner food.
I will be happy when this restaurant goes out of business.

The best for any meal. The service, food and casualty is always so warming. I come here every single week, same day, same time. The wait staff knows you and is truly a great environment. Their food is always perfect. They actually listen to how you like your food; well done, rare, on the side, etc. That goes a long way with me. Love it here.

Good burgers, good waitresses, excellent salad platters and soup offerings daily. Always given some water immediately and the coffee is piping hot. Had a bowl of chicken noodle and it was large and well worth it. Then a chicken salad platter that was rather large for me and I was delighted. Tables were cleared upon finishing and coffee was refilled without asking. I would return to this place. Parking on the main street can be a challenge. GO behind the building as they have a rear entrance. Don’t sit by the back door bc the wind blows right on you and you will be freezing.

My friends and I always come here. We love it. There are some controversial reviews on the owner/​manager but I seem to have good experiences with him.
The tables are a bit small but service is quick and nice

Manager/​owner cursed and yelled at me in front of my nine be year old son.
Staff did not make eye contact and had terrible attitude.
Pricing is a scam: burgers for 6 dollars then without you asking they add lettuce, and give you the bill telling you that the plate given was a deluxe and charge you 16 dollars.
there is no sanitation. This place is visibly dirty and no doubt the kitchen is the same.
Burgers and food sub par for genre.
Overall the staff food and this place has been there too long… That spot could use a change… They should bulldoze this place.

If you grew up in Oyster Bay then you know Taby’s! It’s one of the hidden gems on Long Island. Every time I got to Oyster Bay I try and stop in for that monster of a half pound burger they offer. There has never been a time I order somethings off the menu and been disappointed. They have been there forever and with good reason, the food is excellent. I never had a chop steak until I went to Taby’s, my best friend made me try it, now I measure all chop steaks to the Taby’s standard. They have a lot of dessert also, if your into that kind of thing, and great coffee so don’t rush to leave.
The staff is always great too! They know my brother, my friend and me by name. We are there so much and they know our orders, so it feels like they care. The only one negative I must add, I am always honest, is they only take cash. I hate stoping at a bank to get money then going to eat. The banks not out of the way I just don’t want to waste time when I could spend it at Taby’s eating the endless warm bread they bring to the table. I hope if you stop by the North Shore and are hungry you head to Taby’s, just be sure to be ready for friendly staff and a great meal!

Horrible service. Wait staff seems to hate working there. Thye almost seed bothered that they had to work. Requested that burger be cooked medium. It came out raw.
Beware!!. They only take AMEX. You can’t use other credit or debit cards which forces you to use the conveniently located ATM machine in their vestibule which charges you $ 1.75 to use. They must make a nice chunk of change from that ATM machine. You are more or less forced to use it. They could at least have the decency to post a sign in the window to warn patrons of this. The bathroom was filthy and the back hall near the bathrooms smelled putrid.
Don’t bother with this place.

My husband and I go here all the time. The food is really good and the waiters are all very nice. I love their chicken and rice soup and their deluxe salads. They also have really good gyros and hamburgers.

My boyfriend and I went in for a late lunch and were unfortunately disappointed. His burger was undercooked and not very good quality and when we told the bus boy, nothing was done, the waiter didn’t ask why we didn’t want to take the burger home despite only one bite being taken from it. (We don’t blame him, still tipped him over 20%) when we asked the women at checkout if she could take ½ off of the price of his dish, she said «I had a burger today and it was fine» and refused to help in any way and suggested that «maybe he just didn’t want the burger in the first place» rather than trying to help. So sad to experience such poor customer service. Will not be going back.

Going on a history trip to Sagamore Hill, I researched places to eat, specifically locals cause
locals know where it is at. When I found it was a diner, I knew it was going to make solid food with no attitude. Taby’s is a relaxed environment. Like any diner, it has a menu full of everything. Comparable to NYC diners as far as cost, I went with what I try whenever going to a new diner. A burger. I went with not just any burger but a smother burger. I was in for a surprise. A tasty juicy burger topped with American cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. Each bite was perfectly balanced with those ingredients. A simple hamburger bun. Served with a mound of French fries, this meal took care of my dinner issues. Friendly staff and on a quaint strip of Audrey Avenue. Recommend to those who want a solid no frills or fuss meal.

Had a cheeseburger for lunch today with fries. It was ok but nothing spectacular. I’ve had many burgers from Fudruckers to 5 Guys to Burger Lounge to many other great burger places. I’ve had lots of burgers. Nothing wrong with the Taby burger it’s just that it’s an average burger.

Taby’s has been the go to diner for oyster bay since as far back as I can remember (since it’s basically the only one). People swear by their burgers. If you get a delux it comes with fries and a Greek salad which is to die for. The food there is always delicious no matter what you get and I’ve never left disappointed nor has anyone that I’ve ever eaten there with. I feel like if you want the traditional diner thing done right and you’re in oyster bay you should stop in.

A neighborhood staple, Taby’s serves up the goodness. My two favorite — BACON CHEESEBURGER and GYRO — to die for! Don’t let this «dineresque» place fool you — home of some of the best food on long island — and if your adventurous the turkey burger is amazeballs!
Stop in, ask for Gerry and grab a burger!

I only recently visited Taby’s even though I have worked in Oyster Bay for 4 years. Taby’s is an institution here. the local coffee shop but I don’t think that I saw a counter and it is about ¼ the size of a dinner. In any case, I am told that it has good, reasonable and reliably good food. The folks that I went with added a Greek salad w their burgers and fries. I had just a salad and loved how it had shredded lettuce. Fanatico in Jericho does that also and I find it to be a great way to easily eat salad while having a group conversation. That sounds weird, but i prefered chopped to large leaves. Annnyyyway… if you are in town and want a simple and fast option, go to Taby’s !!

Taby’s is the quintessential Oyster Bay eatery. Their burgers are locally renowned but it’s my personal opinion that their gyros are the best. The portions are decent sized without the deluxe option and huuuge with. The deluxe option includes French fries and their Greek salad, also a known favorite. The servers are all great and the owner is incredibly friendly. Prices are cheap. The reason not five stars? The décor hasn’t changed since this place opened, but I always thought that was to keep a touch of nostalgia for those of us who grew up eating here.

Me and the family visited Oyster Bay. After going to Sagamor Hill and taking a small hike, we were famished. We hadn’t had lunch and it was 4:30 p.m. we came across this place and thought it was perfect to try out. This place hit the spot. It was very clean inside. The waitress and waiter were very nice and polite and quickly seated us in the back private area which I loved. It was a cozy spot. The service we received was on point. The restroom we used was very clean.
I ordered the grape leaves which were awesome. They were cold, fresh and lemony just the way I like them. However I should have stopped there not because my next dish was terrible but because it was too heavy. I also ordered the egg salad platter which came with cole slaw and potato salad. Yeah you get the picture too much mayonnaise which killed my stomach. The platter was pretty tasty though.
My hubby and daughter got the burgers. My daughter inhaled her cheeseburger and we took her fries home which were delicious as left overs even cold. I tried a bite of cheeseburger and it was indeed delicious. The fresh spear pickles they serve were very fresh and yummy. There is a children’s menu available with other items.
From the outside this place looked like just a place for burgers but as soon as we went inside we saw that it was a diner with really good burgers. If you are hungry you can’t go wrong coming here. It is a great place to try.

This is not a fancy burger joint… it is not a ‘hip’ and trendy burger joint… this is your small town greasy burger joint, that is not trying to be anything but just that!
If you are looking for a small, no frills kind of place, then this is it! And I totally appreciate it for being just that.
It was small, cozy, and exactly what we were looking for. Our burgers were huge! I got a burger melt, and my boyfriend got this huge fully loaded burger. It was pretty sweet, and seriously fulfilled our greasy burger craving. They packed our burgers with toppings! I was in burger heaven. Yes it was a tad more expect then you would think, but the burgers were huge. I did not even get a deluxe. Just a burger with the side of coleslaw had me limping my way back to the car.
I got to come here after a few drinks sometime! It just feels right!
