My husband took my two children ages 13 and 3 today, the place was empty, my husband said that should have been his 1st clue… the guy behind the counter, which my husband believes it was the owner… was a nasty person… my husband orders my 3 yr old a ginger ale and the man gave him a ginger ale beer… then my husband tells him and the guy was beligerant, so my husband says to just give him a coke instead, bc obviously my child cannot drink ginger ale beer(non alcoholic)…instead of just switching out the drink… he charged my husband for both! His attitude was horrible and food was not even anything to brag about. Over charged and fair food PLUS a bad attitude. .leaves this place a 1 time visit from our family. .horrible…enter at your own risk!

I got robbed. Ordered a cheeseburger, a double cheeseburger with bacon, loaded fries and two sodas. The owner«threw in» a small amount of regular fries when he forgot to make the loaded ones. As we were leaving, he says«I didn’t charge you for the fries, that’ll be ten more dollars». 40 dollars for the worst stomach ache of my life. I began to do the math for him because apparently he doesn’t know his own prices(I figured out he overcharged us about fifteen dollars), however my father pulled me out of the store because he could see I was about to rip this guy a new one. Seriously, don’t go here. You’ll leave broke and wishing you had just gotten a Big Mac down the street.

I’m a school bus driver, I drive by this place all the time and i was always wondering why it’s always so empty. So I decided to give it a try one day. I Went there for lunch in between my runs earlier in the year, ordered a burger and fries. The guy at the counter(I think the owner) was also having a conversation with one of his friends. I didn’t mind, thinking the order was being cooked by the cook. Waited about 10 minutes till finally this guy ends his conversation saying to his friend«I gotta cook this guys burger» and he goes to the back room to cook my burger! This mediocre burger took twice the time to get and this guy had no respect at all for my time. Honestly this was the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. What a lack of respect, like his conversation with his friend was more important then my business. The burger wasn’t even memorable, just a bland burger I could have done at home. I’d honestly give this place a 0 if I could. The only thing I can say I accomplished with that visit is knowing why till this day this place gets no business. The parking lot is still always empty, to the point I wonder how this guy doesn’t close down. I kind of think he might run another business out of it, at least that’s the only reason I can think of. Reason I think this was his conversation that day seemed like business, I was thinking he might be a contractor at the same time. Either way this place disappointed me big time and I’ll never give this guy my business again. I’d honestly rather go to Mc Donalds down the road which is my least favorite fast food restaurant. If your a specialty burger shop like this place and can’t even beat Mc Donald’s like this place you should just pack it up.

Had lunch there last weekend. Cute 80’s décor, that’s where it stopped. I ordered the bison burger with bacon, guacamole and an egg and a water — came out to 22 $. They didn’t have an egg, no big deal, price dropped to 20 $. I didn’t say anything about the price, hoping it would be the best burger I’ve ever had. No such luck. Bison burger was fine, but it was maybe a tablespoon of guac and one piece of bacon cut in to 3 small pieces. I quickly ate this insanely expensive, subpar burger and left.

Here recently. Hasn’t gotten any better. Almost $ 8 for a tiny burger, tiny French fries and thimble-sized soda. Fries were undercooked and soggy. Soda was 80% ice. Burger fell into a cavity in my molar and I couldn’t find it. They didn’t even have the decency to clear the snow from the parking lot. Pass on this one.

I came across Joes on the way through Oyster Bay. They advertised a Bison burger and it was awesome. It was cooked perfectly and it was not dried out like many Bison burgers. The onions rings were also great, but a little smaller than expected. However with the huge burger filled me up so the size was fine in the end. The owner could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I would definitely eat there again and highly recommend.

I stopped by Joe’s Burger Shack for the 1st time last week. I’m a little ashamed to not have done so sooner, especially since I’ve lived in the area for almost 6 years now. That said, I arrived towards the end of the night. On their board, I noticed a food challenge known as the«Topper»(eat 4 burger patties in 1 burger, get on their Wall of Fame). And I like food challenges, so I thought«Why not?» So I ordered the Topper. I got into a good conversation with the cook there & he asked what I’d like to see offered. Without thinking I said, «Uh, 5 burger patties!» His response: «Oh we’ve got that! That’s called the Stopper!» I hesitated at first but decided, «Why the hell not?» As someone who just ran a marathon recently, this was gonna be one awesome reward. The look of the place: it has a very retro, 50s feel to it as Dawn mentioned in her review, with stools & a counter. The charm of the people working here is awesome — great friendly people. I could see a place like this getting crowded during the summer. That said, the«Stopper» — WHOA. This was gigantic — 5 burger patties, with a slice of cheese over each one! At that point, I didn’t realize what I just got myself into but I went for it. The juices were exploding into my mouth with each bite! Each sirloin burger patty was so well cooked & delicious that it made completing the challenge THAT much easier(and a little sad because I was eating so quickly). No credit cards — cash only, but that doesn’t detract from the place. I will have no problem returning to this place to try out their fries, their Italian burger, their crispy chicken sandwich & hopefully if they took my suggestion — a portabella mushroom burger!

I wish there was a way to leave negative stars. We are not locals. A kid’s soccer game ran late, and we were STARVING! Stopped at the first not-McDonald’s we saw. Problem #1– No Credit Cards accepted. We quickly pooled together and came up w $ 24. So we ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, a fried clams basket, and a cheeseburger. Realizing we had money leftover, we threw in an order of cheese fries and an oreo shake. Waited for not too long… reasonable amount of time… and voila, the food came in a paper bag(even though we were comfortably seated in a booth, hint, hint, we were staying.) When we took the bag and asked if we can just inhale it quickly before hitting the road, the guy explained oh well the kitchen is closing because we close at 8(It’s 7:50)… so no, we couldn’t sit and eat our meal. after being thrown out of the shack, we sat in my car and opened what was supposed to be a brown bag of heaven. Review: Fried Clam Strip basket… was a cardboard french fry holder containing 4 clam strips, 2 unbreaded soogy something or others, and an inch of UFO(unidentified fried objects). Gross. Crispy Chicken sandwich… tasted good, but was pounded out so thinly, I have actually had thicker paper to write on. Cheeseburger– well, a 12 year old ate it, so there wasn’t much negative to say other than, it wasn’t good. Cheese fries– first off, the guy behind the counter was completely bewildered when we asked politely, is it melted cheese slices on top of the fries, or it is a cheese dip? He explained it was liquid cheese. He was right. We have had thicker water. it was like dipping the fry in a pot you made Kraft macaroni and cheese in… after it’s been soaking in the sink for a few hours… and you’ve added salt to. And finally, the oreo shake. Again, people, the word THIN seems to be this places’ motto. As described by the 12 year old, it is oreo flavored milk. Save yourself some money and aggravation. There is a McDonald’s a few blocks south. The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know.(and any devil is better than this place) Trust us.

Hey Joe, stop taking down my review. Fix your food not your reviews. Anyway, here is my review from July 15th. We live in Oyster Bay, and were excited to try the new Joe’s. We ordered Onion Rings, Crabby Patty, Fried Clams and a Burger. $ 21 later I was surprised by how small the bag was, but I saw 4 wrapped items in the bag. When I got home, we opened the onion rings, and were surprised to see 3.5 onion rings(one was a mini) for $ 4, and they were terrible. The fried clam paltter was not a platter, but half a mini fry container of terrible frozen clams that seemed like they were fried twice. The burger was tasteless, and the«Crabby Patty» was something that spongebob would have rejected, so I am sure Nickelodoen will have no problem with the name. The good news is Oyster Bay will soon have a coffee house, once Joe’s the sequel closes.

Last year I had 3 experiences there that were pretty awful & downright forgettable. My dog wouldn’t touch the sloppy joe! I love to support new businesses & spread the word. So I’m waiting for the reopening of 2012. I’m going to give them another chance. Each day I drive by, I keep wondering when are they opening! Finally open! I go in & I’m pretty impressed by the new décor. They have booths & a counter with stools. Its red & chrome, with a 50’s feel. Last year, there was no indoor seating. You had to sit outside on the wooden picnic tables, rain or shine! I check out the new menu. Looks good, now you have choices: buns, toppings, cheeses! I’m not that hungry, so I order a cheeseburger & a snapple(practically $ 7 bucks!). I ask to have the burger medium rare. I chat up the guy & he tells me he is one of the owners. Then he tells me its against the law, only well done. What law? Did this guy have any restaurant training? I tell him how major restaurant chains & diners put a disclaimer on their menu about cooking food to order. I see a young girl at the grill, pressing the life out of my burger! This is not a good sign! Then they wrap my burger up in a piece of foil! And again squish the life out of it! Another bad sign! Geez, get some nice burger to-go boxes. The burger had some potential. But it was pretty dry & tasteless. All that pressing! Needed some salt too! I asked for basic stuff, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo & ketchup. They forgot the ketchup! Believe it or not, I’m going to try again. I’ll keep you updated!

After reading these reviews I wondered if I was thinking of the same place. But of course! I didn’t have the fries or the burgers so I suppose that made all the difference. I ordered a boring, uninspired, almost chocked from the dryness, chicken cutlet burger. Why I didn’t go for the fries is beyond me but instead ordered the equally under-seasoned home fries. It was stifling in the place(I really feel for the guys working there) and even though the outdoor tables have umbrellas. it was still too hot to eat out there. Good thing too because at least when I got home I was able to doctor up the food somewhat. Oh and the home-fries were packed in a styrofoam container! Haven’t these people heard about how styrofoam NEVER decomposes? Would it be that hard to pack them in something a little more earth friendly? Sheesh! That reviewer who mentioned the long wait was right on the nose. It was an unusually long wait and no one offered up any info about it taking so long because everything is cooked to order. All I saw was two over– heated guys giving the wrong order to one group and not getting the order straight for another. The prices didn’t justify the food but then again, like I said… I didn’t get a burger or french fries so maybe you just have to order the right stuff. Doesn’t matter… I will not be going back.

So I tried good olé Joe’s to see what it was all about. Tucked away in quiet oyster bay, this place has some hidden charm that seems to carry in this town. The overall place is small, hot, and just like and old school burger joint. The prices are amazing the woman staff is helpful and lets you know what you are getting into because there is two types of burgers either the«burger» or the«twiny.» They explained the burger is more for kids and the twiny is more of an adult thing. The standard of all burgers come with onions and pickles. I’m not sure if you can add additional toppings like five guys, so I can’t comment there. There is no valve meals but everything is priced so well, you can feed four for about $ 20.00 Order gets placed. Now get prepared to wait, but in the wait remember you are eating some fresh, not something that is waiting for you to come. Fast forward to eating now… Everything is individually wrapped. The onion rings are good, must try. The burgers portion(double) is small but priced well, but you get what you pay for, obviously. The fries are freshly cut and taste great. I’m about 10 – 12 minutes away so when I got home the food was still get and not soggy. Everything was delicious and I will return for more. I thought I would give an official review, this place is a good deal in my book. I saw they even serve breakfast but I can’t comment on that.
