It is cheap. There’s a saying, you get what you pay for. Went for breakfast. Coffee cold, sausage overcooked, potatoes okay, eggs tasteless. Won’t return.

My family and I love Mama Jo’s! The fried chicken is out of this world. My son asks for the spaghetti daily and my daughters favorite is the macaroni and cheese. We are always greeted with a smile and always enjoy the food! This place is highly recommended!

This is my favorite place to eat in Oxford. Best southern food I’ve ever put in my mouth and the friendliest people work here as well! It’s a little hole in the wall at the intersection of Molly Barr Road and N Lamar, not too many people know about it so it’s a great place to stop especially game weekends when everything else is packed!

This a restaurant dedicated to true southern style soul food. It is served cafeteria style and the items they serve change day to day although fried chicken (a wonderful choice) is served daily. The food is all made ahead from scratch and you can typically call ahead to see what they are that serving that day. Sides are all top notch. The desserts are all really good and normally consist of pecan pie or key lime pie and sometimes banana pudding. The staff is extremely friendly and Mama Jo is normally behind the counter making sure everyone is pleased. She used to work in a fraternity house kitchen but has since opened this restaurant and had it open for many years now.
Tip: call ahead for a burger cooked to order and don’t miss out on the cornbread dressing if she has it!

This lady knows how to cook, y’all! You can literally taste the love in each dish. Something as humble as greens are magical here. Don’t go here looking for fancy, it ain’t here, but you will find real good home cooking the way your Grand Mother made it. I promise, you will hug Mamma J ’ s neck before you leave.

Ate here Dec 9 2012. Food was great. Then I went to find the bathroom. It was at the end of a long dark hall and was so filthy that I couldnt walk in. Came back into the dining room with fresh eyes and realized the entire place was just as nasty. Is there a health department in this city?
