My favorite bar. Nice young crowd, mostly regulars. Fun place to be. Great service. Period.

I love this place! I come here before work sometimes to get my snack! They have fresh fruit and the«black and tan» is my favourite coffee!!~ And I am a new coffee drinker! The girls that usually work are very nice and the chicken tortilla soup is really good too! I would recommend it!

Friendly service, great selection of coffee and flavors, and a nice little menu if you’re hungry! Definitely a great place to relax, too. Comfy couches and wi-fi!

The Toad has now transmogrified into Buzz(reviewed under that name here on Unilocal!). Can’t tell much difference in its new incarnation — still serving coffee in the front and alcoholic beverages in the back! Stays open late, which makes it a godsend in suburbia!

The now extinct Toads has reformed into Buzzzzz, whoops, too many zzzz;s. I was here on Thursday afternoon to give the new owners a shot, I heard that they had upgraded the coffee to Broadway. Smart move. The pastries, I learned from the barista, are brought in irregularly during the week, fresh from Irina’s. They sound and look delicious, although I have yet to eat any. On my first visit I had a drip coffee, it was hot, brewed lightly, but not terrible. My friend had a mocha that he didn’t comment on, soooo.. .. .For the sake of Unilocaling I went back to the counter and ordered a double espresso. Batista’s, please be more forceful when serving straight espresso, it’s meant to be enjoyed immediately after extraction. So I had been distracted and it sat a moment. Nonetheless it was quite bright and fruitful. I could snob about the particulars, but that isn’t necessary. Some changes have been made to the location since the original coffee/bar opened: the Daily Dose. The center island with retail beans is gone, the humidifier gone, high-top table sit directly in front of the restrooms(I’d rather not listen to people flush or watch me walk out. Maybe it’s just me?) The carpet, draperies and couches are new, as is some of the paint. The food menu is ambitious, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese and hummus(ok, maybe not the last two). Sounds decent though. The spinach artichoke dip is the same as when it was the Dose, or so they think, but I haven’t tried it yet so that is T. B A. Breakfast sandwiches too. The bartender here, at least the one working, is enthusiastic about mixology, unfortunately it seemed everyone had pitchers or generic drinks. He’s the tall, dark, mysterious one that is pleasant and friendly, but not overly flirtatious. The specials were good(Kansas doesn’t allow only certain hours for drink specials, so lucky us have happy hours all day). Next time it will be bartenders choice. It was clean, bright, and not too loud, I believe there is a barista front of house and the bartender in back. The groupie kids could hang out in their parents basement and that might benefit the general mood. I’ll visit once more for a sandwich and beverage before making my final say. Although, late night in Jo.Co. this is probably your best, if only, relaxed atmosphere that isn’t your sofa

Let me preface this by saying I’m not a coffee connoisseur. I LOVE coffee, but I’m just fine with Starbucks. My kid and I stopped by The Buzz after dinner tonight. Neither of us had ever been inside a coffee shop, so we didn’t know what to expect. There were two sections. The front was more the coffee shop, and the back was more the bar. There were comfy-looking sofas in one corner, regular tables with cushioned chairs most everywhere else, a few high-top tables with stools, and bar seating. I glanced over a shelf with some board games and cards. They had Golden Tee against one of the walls, and those touchscreen games at the bar. There were several patrons there(6:30PM on a Saturday night), most on laptops. I imagine that means they have wi-fi. It was a tame, but young crowd. We chose a regular table and sat down. The bartender/barista made me an Americano while my son ordered a mocha. We were there about 20 minutes — just long enough to enjoy our coffees while looking around and having a chat. I was very impressed with my delicious cup of joe. My kid said his was good too. He took a sip of mine and said he liked mine just as much. Teen of few words. Anyway, it was a nice, clean place with good coffee. I’d definitely go back.

LOVE This place. It’s a coffee shop in the front and a bar in the back. It’s in a strip mall, but it makes me feel like i’m in crossroads or westport(which is a good thing). The bartenders are always so nice and they have a lot of fun drinks and good drink specials. There were a lot of high school hipster-looking kids there sitting outside when I went with my friends one friday night, but everyone was friendly and having a good time.
