Very friendly folks and helpful, the restrooms not to clean need to stock better. Other than that I was okay inside location.

This Michaels is set up differently than some but it’s actually more organized and easier to find what you’re looking for! The best part of this store is that the staff is very helpful and will go out of their way to verify prices or to help you find exactly what you are looking for! I overheard one associate actually recommend another store to find and item that they didn’t carry. To me, that is stellar customer service!

I like this Michaels better than the one in Shawnee. It seems slightly bigger than the Shawnee store, although I have a bit of trouble finding things here. Usually I can find an employee to help me find that one item. It seems of late that Michaels as a whole has cut their yarn selection. That’s really sad, because I am a knitter and that(and greenware) are the main reasons I use Michaels, and«the other hobby store“I am losing faith in.

When I was a kid, the most dreaded errands that I was ever a part of were at Cloth World, a generic fabric store with no music, and Michael’s where my crafting mother would spend what seemed like hours browsing household decorations. Flash forward to Unilocal CM life and I have to say, I’m singing a more positive tune. This place is easy to navigate and has so many things I need — picture frames, seasonal décor, crafty knick knacks and the like. I’m not crazy about how they falsely mark EVERYTHING down however — it’s like a permanent sale that is a bit tricky. I mean really the price of something is just $ 20, but they act like you’re saving $ 50 because it’s permanently on sale. C’mon man! What I do love about it is that I can go in there not knowing what I need, and still peruse everything and come away happy. I wish it were a tad closer, but being in the 90 something block of Metcalf is relatively convenient for many.

The manager Cheryl at the 91st and Metcalf location does not even deserve a star for the way she treats people. She is the most hateful person I have ever met in my life. The Michaels at 119th and Metcalf offers a much better variety, nicer employees and more professional managers. I will be going there from here on out. Michaels should be ashamed that they have such a mean person running a store.

Everybody in this store was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. It was very busy with holiday traffic, and I had no problem getting in and out with the supplies I needed. There was no Chanukah stuff, though, and that surprised me. Apparently, neither of the Overland Park Michael’ses are carrying Chanukah items this year. The Shawnee store isn’t either. The cashier was as nice as could be, though, and she explained that it was a mix up.

Had the best experience there getting something custom framed. The staff member helping me was patient and pointed me in the right direction when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. She asked specific questions(which room was it going in, what colors were in the room, what colors are my couches, is there anything else on the wall it’s going on) and her first picks for matting and frame were spot on what I had envisioned in my mind. I haven’t received the finished product yet so I’ll come back to update, but wanted to give a great review of the staff member working last night.

If hideous silk flowers are your thing, this is your store! Also, I imagine people who have various craft-oriented hobbies would like this place. I rarely come here, but when I do, it’s generally for frames or vases, two things that they have a good variety of and they’re priced reasonably. The store looks a tad dumpy and outdated, but it seems clean and relatively well-organized. There’s generally just one slow person working at the cash register and they always ask for your email address when you’re checking out. The last time I was there, I got a steely glare from the cashier when I said, «No thank you.» If I needed some sort of craft supplies, I guarantee you that this would be my go-to place since I really don’t know of any alternatives nearby and I refuse to give Hobby Lobby my business.

Michaels has EVERYTHING. It’s not a yarn store, or a bead store, or a frame store, or an artist’s supply store; it’s a little bit of all of these things. If you want to try your hand at a new craft, and you want to get some basic supplies, Michaels is a good place to start. They don’t have a ton of the high-end stuff, you’ll have to go to a more specialized store for that, but they have a nice wide selection of silk floral, needlecraft, papercraft, fabric paint… well, you get the idea. They also have frequent clearance-bin sales, which can get picked over pretty quickly, but you can find some real bargains in those bins.

No matter where I’ve been to Michael’s in our fair country, I’ve always found what I needed, courtesy of friendly staff. Even if you don’t find yourself creative and artsy, I have to imagine that you would get in the mood just walking around this store. When I haven’t had a relationship with a local framer, I’ve always come here for their 60% off. They do that once a quarter — just call them and ask them when it will be. I’ve gotten tons of things framed for very low prices.
