We used to go all the time since they first opened and we like the food especially that there are no good Chinese buffet in the over and park. Recently the food quality has been worse and in two different occasions when they get busy they miss our turn. The last time we went with the family on Sunday they were busy and told us the wait is half an hour, we waited 50 minutes and we noticed three groups who came after went inside, when we asked they lied and said that our turn has come yet. After 10 minutes we were told that they have a table for us(after 1 hour waiting) we found out that they want all 6 of us plus a kid to sit on 4 people booth, even the waiter said that the table won’t fit us but the manager got angry and told us that she can’t do anything but put us back on waiting list, she didn’t even let to sit on two different tables that were being cleaned in front of us. When we asked how Come people were seated before us on bigger tables she said that they had a reservation but we left and said we are not willing to wait more when all propel got seated before us. We called back to check if they have reservations and as we thought she was lying and the person on the phone said that they don’t do reservation on weekend. We will never go back to a disrespectful restaurant!

No joy found here. The food quality was below subpar for a $ 10 buffet price. I considered purging myself afterward so I could go somewhere else to eat.

2 Stars– Variety 3 Stars — Location 2 Stars — Quality 2 Stars — Value 3 Stars — Atmosphere Would I go there again? No. I don’t generally do bad reviews… So, this is going to be a short one. With that said… Here goes… 1)The food was cold 2)There was nothing that I would want to eat again 3) Almost everything was breaded and all the breading was too thick. Cold, thick, soggy= very unhappy Deana. If you have to do an Asian buffet, and the accent is on «have to», Just go to Legends of Asia. Or, how about this… Try something exceptional like Dim Sum at Boling’s on the plaza. Now, that’s a buffet worth doing!

This place was delicious. The service was great! We walked in and were shocked by all of the people waiting, but the wait wasn’t bad because the staff were quick to clean off the tables and get their guests started on their dinner! The food was fresh, hot, and tons of variety. This was my first time here and I will recommend it to my friends and family.

Let me start this out with they have an amazing selection of food. I was very much impressed by the amount of different things that they had here. Let me also say that Chinese food isn’t my go to. It’s something that if everybody else is going, I’ll go because I can usually find something but I’m never excited by it. Okay so that all being said, I really didn’t like it. I usually love beef and broccoli. It is dopeness to me. I mean I love beef and I love broccoli so it’s a given. I didn’t love it here. I didn’t even like it here. I ended up being sad after eating it. It just didn’t have enough flavor for me. I also am a fan of General Tso’s chicken so I picked up the General’s chicken thinking I’d get a little kick of spice. Nope. Nothing. I ended up sad all over again. My son, however, thought everything was amazing, probably because he loves seafood. He really wants to come back on the crab legs night so I’ll probably send him. I won’t be there. Another plus is the staff. The staff there was amazing, at least the staff that we had. She stopped to show my son how to use the chop sticks correctly and she kept coming back to check on us. That was a big plus in my book. The place was clean and spacious. It was well lit so I can’t complain about that. Overall, it’s just okay.

Not bad for a buffe. It’s crazy busy on the weekend. They have enormous foods selection. The smell of seafood and fish can be strong when I first walk in make me not wanna eat.

Our first time eating here. I came on and saw pictures of amazing sushi… only to see a less then decent selection. The sushi there was less then good. Still I just changed focus to the buffet, I did find some very tasty classics and the wait staff was very helpful and nice. A return visit would be a hit or miss.

The food was pretty damn good for a chinese buffet. And the hibatchi was fast and delicious. My 8 year old son found plenty of things that he enjoyed such as roast, chicken wings, and white rice that wasnt all dried out. And their fruit selection was nice and it all looked fresh. They were very busy. We got there around 5:30 on a Friday and it was full. But we got seated fairly quickly. When we left an hour later they had a wait. The koi pond was fun and my son liked watching them. It kept him entertained which is a bonus. Fair warning though… If you have a sweet tooth save that for somewhere else. Last but not least… Seating is cramped. But it wont stop me. Ill be coming again. The food is worth it.

Just say no. It’s only a fill’r up. Why do this to yourself? We went on Crab leg night. They were over cooked and tiny. It was a stampede to get some. The herds of buffalo fought to get to them and pile their plates high with the only food that was worthy of any interest. Really, there’s one little area devoted to uninspired Chinese food vast remainder of the buffet was salad bar or cheap dessert items. The flavor was nondescript. The tubs filled with unrecognizable piles of stir fry. They have a sushi bar, and I use the term sushi very loosely. There’s no way I’m eating sushi at this place. Staff were friendly. The price was cheap. A human hog trough that could be so much more.

The food is delicious like any standard buffet, but for me, the sushi and seafood that they offer really makes it one of a kind! It’s my first choice for a buffet around Overland Park. As for my experiences with the service, no one was available when drinks were running low or plates were stacking up on our table(there were only 2 of us). The worst situation was when our waitress was on her cell phone the entire time. And awkwardly sitting right by us in an almost empty room. And then she would walk back over(still on the phone) and never asked us if we needed anything. I am totally fine with one or two poor experiences, but this was just odd! All in all, I love Joy Wok and I can ignore my other experiences to enjoy their food!

Finally a Chinese buffet that I didn’t cringe at when we entered. Now don’t get me wrong the food isn’t winning any awards but it’s good. The servers were very friendly and quick with refills and assistance. The place was clean and bright and very attractive. We will eat here again I’m sure

I’ve begged my mom to take me here after seeing it on tv. So one Sunday after church she surprised me and told we were going there.
The place look very nice and I thought it looked very clean. It was a normal crowd /wait for a early Sunday afternoon. The first time I thought the food was good. Second time: The Chinese food was really bland and had no flavor. I love Beef and Broccoli… but not this one. The beef was very chew. Ew. But I did like some of the Chinese food. Not all. (Me and my mom will only go back for the hibachi bar /sushi bar. It’s more fresh. And it come out nice and HOT!) Me, I’ve only been 3 times. But let me tell you this… NEVERGOON A HOLIDAYOR A WEEKEND. Third time: so on Mother’s Day 2015 me, my mother, and my grandma went there was barely a place to park. So when we FINALLY found a place to park, there was a wait outside the door. And was crowded inside! There was family’s with kids running all around I couldn’t stand it. So while my mother TRIED to get someone to ask the price and the wait time, me and my grandma waited uncomfortably siting close to people. MY mom came back and said were not eating here today. 1.) a lady with long hair at the deck was rude af to her.(She was trying to get her attention. The lady looked her dead in the face and ignored her) 2.) ITWAS $ 17.99PERPERSON??? like WTFREALLY? I know it’s a holiday but come on. All in all. There okay. Not the best Chinese food. But good hibachi. Go at your own risk.

Decent quality for a buffet, but not as huge a selection as some reviewers state. There was a vegetable(a stalk with green leaves… No idea what it was) that was delicious. The sushi wasn’t bad. Everything else is what you’d expect. Service is very prompt.

I’ll start off by saying, shame on me for not completely reading the prices on the front door. I could not believe my final bill! I went on Friday night and I read the dinner buffet was around $ 11. I thought to myself, «Self, that’s a lot. But it’s 119th in OP and I bet it’s got a huge selection and stuff.» Well I was wrong on every count, including the price. What I didn’t read was«Weekend buffet» is around $ 17 per person! The dining area seating was odd. Small 2-person tables put together to make larger tables. That’s fine, but the weird thing was, they put my party of 4 right next to a lady and her toddler, like we were together or something. Weird, but OK. Well that lady loved some crab legs. So much that when she tore into them, meat and juice squirted onto us! The food selection was just OK, at best. Same for the taste. It was actually far less than I was expecting. There was a sushi section and a seafood section. And I’m sure that’s what drove up the price, I guess. I don’t eat seafood so that was lost on me. They didn’t even have egg rolls, just spring rolls and they were kind of gross. Overall it was just the few dishes you always have at any buffet. Finally, you pay the servers. We had to wait over 10 minutes to get a bill before I finally flagged someone down. And that’s when I saw it. Over $ 68 for 4 people to eat at a mediocre Chinese buffet. I rarely say, «I’ll never come here again.» because who knows what the circumstances were to have a bad instance. But I can safely say, I’ll never go to Joy Wok again.

Meh. Joy Wok is just the most Chinese buffet of all Chinese buffets. I don’t mean that as a compliment, like they are the most authentically Chinese… Just picture a Chinese buffet, any Chinese buffet and you’ve just imagined Joy Wok. Look, I don’t hate Chinese buffets. They certainly have their place in the world. All you can eat, relatively inexpensive, passable Chinese food — fine. But this place was just so meh. I was just not impressed with anything. BYFAR the best thing I ate was the Mongolian potatoes(is that even a real thing?). They were basically really buttery potatoes(yes please) with a little seasoning of some sort or something. But you don’t want the best thing on a buffet to be a potato… For one thing, not going to get your money’s worth that way. The chicken skewers were dry, crab rangoon just okay, peppered chicken just okay… Basically there was nothing particularly good. At least most buffets have at least 1 or 2 things that you could gorge yourself on because you like it. There was nothing that I really felt the need to go back and get more of, besides the potatoes… Service was fine, the restaurant itself was fine… The food is just barely okay. There are better Chinese buffets out there though, and even the decent ones of those only deserve 3 stars, really… In the end, going to places like this just makes me wish I’d gone to Po’s or something. Miss the buffet but the food is worlds better.

This is probably my favorite chinese buffet in OP. It’s very entertaining to play with the fish(DONOTFEEDTHEFISH!!). This place has beautiful décor, the indoor pond is full of beautiful koi, although they’ll probably try to eat you… or give you those cute little fish kisses. The sushi is good for being buffet sushi. They do provide a very limited selection of sashimi and nigiri, which is also not bad for being buffet style! I generally pig out on the salmon sashimi and the squid nigiri when I’m there… oh and the seaweed/seabean salad! Most of their other food is good, crawfish, clams, etc. They also serve your usual chinese buffet things like sweet/sour chicken, teriyaki skewers, veggies, and more. I must warn you that if you go during peak times(i.e. dinner hour on weekdays, weekends), this place is PACKED and overflowing with people waiting to eat. We’ve had a couple of seats where we were literally rubbing elbows with another table. But they do their best at getting everyone seated within a reasonable amount of time. This is always my go-to when I’m hungry, don’t want to cook, and can’t decide what I’m hungry for.

This place was packed when I came here around 7pm for dinner on a Saturday. There was a 25-minute wait but it wasn’t that bad. I think a lot of people were here for the all-you-can-eat crab and seafood. There was a fountain in the front where a lot of people were waiting to be seated. They had a flat screen tv that I’m sure somebody would be watching even though it was away. The buffet area had a lot of food ranging from fried rice to sushi to roast prime rib. I ate Chinese food a long time ago(at least it felt that way) so this place wasn’t bad. The vegetables I ate were good as well as the chicken and vegetables. I don’t remember the names of what I ate but they were all not bad. The sushi here was okay at best but it was a buffet. There was a hibachi station where they cooked the food for you, but I didn’t do that. It was like Genghis Khan Mongolian Barbeque where you make your own food to have grilled. The prime roast beef I ate was not really good even though it looked good. The frozen custard was pretty good as a dessert and had vanilla, chocolate, and vanilla/chocolate swirl. This place wasn’t bad for a dinner buffet but a little pricey at $ 15.57 total.
