Johnny Brusco’s New York Style Pizza

Johnny’s will be a little bit pricier than your typical large chain pizza joint. However, they typically have coupons up by the cash register and they’ll gladly accept one while you order.
There is a sign saying that there will be a longer wait time because the pizzas are made fresh to order; just be patient. If you like NY style pizza, give it a whirl.

Normally this is one of our favorite places to get a pie! Having a husband from NY, he introduced me to it. For the first few years, it was great but over the past year, the quality has totally diminished! :(
Last night we picked up a large pie to-​go. It was luke-​warm when we picked it up. When we got it home to eat, the pizza itself was terrible. We also got an order of garlic knots. We have always loved them, but last night they were raw on the inside. We ended up throwing them out along with ½ of the pizza.
Is it under new manager or something?

They are out of business!!!

The pizza took forever to arrive and it was cold… not warm… cold. I had to put each slice in my toaster oven in order to eat it when it was delivered. Plus, to add insult to injury, the 2 liter soda I ordered was forgotten so the driver had to go back and get it and then deliver it! Add to the fact that calls went to a cell phone’s voice mail that was full and answered to a name that was not even the restaurant, I was not at all impressed.

TERRIBLE!!! Pizza tasted moldy. There were literally no other customers and they were not making any other orders but mine. I wonder if business is so bad they let ingredients set for too long. I had to throw the whole order out after 2 bites and I now feel sick. less than acceptable toppings ordered with onions and had 4 1 inch slices of onion. Had 3 teenagers running the whole place never saw and adult. did not even have lids that fit their to go cups. This place is off my list for good.

The worst buffalo chicken wrap I’ve ever ate. The chicken tasted like rubber. I’ve had a better wrap from a gas station and that was only desperate times that forced me to it that. Won’t be back.

The food here is generally pretty good. However, like sex, even bad pizza is pretty good. This isn’t bad pizza. It’s pretty well done NY style. Great slices. Wraps and sandwiches are good too.
The service is maddeningly inconsistent. I have to think, if people don’t come back, it’s frustration with the service, not the food.

These guys just can’t get their act together. They actually have really good garlic bread, but they couldn’t put together the most basic orders if their lives (or business) depended on it. We ordered a dinner salad, a calzone and 2 subs for 4 people. After a bit, they first brought the salad. About 10 minutes later, they brought the calzone. Almost 10 minutes later, they brought the subs! Why would they first bring the one thing that could’ve sat in the fridge until everything was ready? They said the oven was getting full because of carry-​out orders that had come in. Here’s an idea, get the dine-​in orders in first and tell carry-​out it would be a bit longer. When we finally got the subs, there was literally almost no meat in them (I wish I could post a pic). I am not kidding on this, the 2 of us who ordered them sent them back and walked next door to get Subway. There was honestly more meat. This place is really a lost cause at this point.

First experience here was less than stellar. Not great service, pathetic excuse for salad bar and horribly dried out pizza on the buffet.
Family convinced me to try it again as their garlic knots are delicious. So we went. And Johnny’s kept true to my original impression. Service is horrible. The fryer was already shut down at 7pm so no chicken fingers and fries for the kids. Darling daughter’s Caesar salad arrived well before everyone else’s meals. My buffalo chicken wrap was sloppily thrown together and was nice and cold.
I will say the slices are huge, but that’s the only thumbs up they get from me.

We have eaten here 6 – 8 times in the past year and just took them off our list. The food is ok, notable smaller anount of toppings on their pizzas and for the price, that is unacceptable. The restrooms are never clean with toilets and sinks clearly dirty, add in missing paper towels, soap and look in desperate need of repair and refresh. The recent addition of large TV’s does not make up for a dramatic decline in the key areas of a restaurant… not going back

Pretty good New York pizza! I stopped by for lunch. I did the buffet bar: which had you typical less-​then-​stellar salad bar. Unlimited pizza by the slices, and the cook kept fresh pizzas coming! It was a bit busy for lunch, and only one waitress was working. She apologized for being slow, stating she was very new. I think she did a great job, but she was clearly a bit overwhelmed with how many tables she had to wait by herself. The atmosphere is a little seedy; big old room that could use a serious remodel, poor lighting, and dark lighting. I’d eat the food again, but would probably get it delivered or as take out.

Lucky we had a coupon, their pizza was horrible. No cheese, weak sauce, toppings so-so…I’ve worked at a pizza place before and this was embarrassing. I feel bad for the kids working there bc they were nice. My wife even added string cheese before she microwaved it.

Wow wow wow is all I can say right now! I ordered a pizza from here at 11:08am. The lady that answered was super friendly and she did let me know the delivery time was going to be about an hour and 15minutes. Well, at 12:01pm I got a call from Johnny Brusco’s. They hung up on me after I answered without saying anything. I called them back and the «owner» answered. He said calls get forwarded to his phone when the store doesn’t answer after 4 rings. He wasn’t sure why they called but said he would call me back if there was an issue with my pizza but it was probably them calling to tell me that they were on their way. We’ll, 12:25 comes around and still no pizza… which is no biggie but the owner said they were probably calling to say there were on their way, so I call the store and they tell me: «we’re out of ingredients and had to get some from another store.» «The owner screwed us today not scheduling enough.» «would you like to cancel your order because we don’t have anyone to deliver it.» «The delivery guy is making pizzas and we have 6 tables.» WOWWWWW! Well, they already charged my card. AND… I had to call and be told this? They weren’t going to let me know!!!
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I’m seriously disappointed. They should look into hiring some new managers. WOW!

We had carry out from the 95^th street location. Very disappointed. The crust had the texture and taste of the box we took it home in. Maybe it would have been better if we would have eaten there, but we won’t be going back…

Completely disappointed. It took 10 min to get our drinks and then after another 15 min I asked the waiter to check on the apps. He forget to order our food. I think the pizza is good but the staff needs to improve.

This place has potential, it really does. The pizza was really good. We had the Margarita Pizza, cheesy garlic bread, and the all meat pizza. There were so many people working and most of them were just standing around. In a restaurant that had maybe three or four tables, 2 people serving would’ve more than handled it. We had a waiter until the appetizer got to our table and then we got a different one (while the other was still there). Strange, but okay. What goes best with pizza? Beer. Unfortunately, they are having some issues with their liquor license, so only ³⁄₂ beer here. There are wine glasses hanging over the bar, but… no wine can be served. Pretty disappointing as well. They will be an option for take out, but I’d rather have a good drink with my food.

One of the best pizza places around. Just like NY style pizza. Staff is already friendly. Pizza by the slice is da bomb especially if you order it cooked a tad more. Prices are awesome can’t beat the specials

We checked out Johnny Brusco’s on a Saturday evening as the first half of a dinner and movie evening out. I had purchased a groupon for this place a month or two earlier, which is always a great option for checking out restaurants you might not normally get to. We arrived right around dinner time, and the place was fairly busy inside — but not packed. We ordered an appetizer of garlic cheese bread and a hawaiian pizza.
Positives:
–NY Style pizza! Definitely my favorite, and a style you don’t see a ton of around KC.
–Very friendly staff, our waitress was great.
–Great deals (½ off large pizza on Sundays?!).
–They sell pizza by the slice.
Negatives:
–Food just wasn’t that memorable. It certainly wasn’t bad, but nothing that would make me
crave a return.
I’m slightly torn on this place — part of me thinks that maybe it was just the hawaiian pizza that wasn’t good. With a ½ off deal, and the ability to buy pizza by the slice, I think I should be able to manage a return trip and try something other than the hawaiian.

Dropped in here after a bike ride for a slice of pizza and beer. Many of my riding buddies frequent here, but Overland Park is quite a stretch for my Midtown home.
As soon as I walked in I was glad to see a Guinness beer tap. That usually will garner an extra half star if not a full one in my book!
I ordered a slice of Brusco’s Deluxe. One slice here is plenty unless you just ridden 50 miles like I did or you’re just ravenous. The crust of the pizza here is excellent… thin, crispy, chewy when you get to the bigger part is the outside… marked with black and brown spots on the bottom just like a good pizza crust should be.
The toppings were really good actually, and meets didn’t make the pizza drip with grease. The and vegetables after the pizza is done here so you’re going to get crisp fresh vegetables instead of cooked ones… as was the case with the onion and peppers on my deluxe. I like that actually. Good stuff and I hope to stop it again sometime.

Great pizza and cold beer — can it get any better? Only with great service. David is fantastic, and Cameron is equally exceptional. You gotta check this place out.

They have great pizza by the slice with any of your favorite toppings. Went to the 95^th and Antioch location. The staff was very friendly.
