Eilenberger’s Automotive

I had a one-​of-​a-​kind experience at Eilenberger’s. The details are not important; what is important is how they handled a very stressful and unfortunate situation involving my vehicle being reported as stolen. The front office staff– Corey and Mike –were professional, courteous and supportive throughout the ordeal. Paul Eilenberger handled the situation as a caring, professional, and respectful owner who obviously had both mine and his employees’ best interests in mind.
Bad things happen to good people — how people react to adversity is a true measurement of their character and integrity. I’m happy to say Eilenberger’s is high in both of those categories.

I just received my car back, and couldn’t be happier with my experience. Took my car in on Friday morning with a unique problem that couldn’t be diagnosed right away. They provided a loaner so I could still make it to work. They spoke with me everyday while it was in the shop and were very transparent about what they had been testing/​doing.
In the end they completed the repair and a couple of other normal services for a fair price. Considering they provided a loaner for two days and a shuttle to and from the rental car place, I was more than happy to pay the price I did. I will be recommending Eilenberger’s automotive.

My wife started taking her car to Eilenberger’s over twenty-​five years ago because they were convenient and she could walk home after leaving her car for an oil change. They have earned our trust and business for such a long time by providing quality service.
We drive late model cars because we prefer to avoid the depreciation shock that comes after buying a new car. We also value reliable cars. We have never had to make a repeat visit to Eilenberger’s because something was done incorrectly. Nor have we ever experienced a car breakdown which left us feeling stranded and requiring us to have a car repaired in some place we don’t know by people we don’t know. That is a very comfortable feeling when you drive all over this wonderful country.
We have experienced and benefited from the investments they have made in their facility, equipment, and employees. Studies show that employees who feel supported by their company provide the best customer service. All of our interactions have been very good.
It is also nice to see Aaron and Paul demonstrate that they value good citizenship by contributing back to the community.

Mike and Aaron were very accommodating and explained what they thought was wrong with my car. Two road tests with their mechanics to confirm the issue and how to reproduce. However after $ 600+ in parts and labor, nothing was fixed. They did try again with a second set of parts on their own dime and stated the issue was reduced. I drove it less than a mile and it was just as bad as before.
I did not have the patience, money, or confidence to take it back for the third time in seven days.
I wanted to like them based on their positive reviews, but they fell short and I’m out a lot of money and have a car with the same problem.
Update: The owner offered to replace my original parts and provide a refund. I thought I might just keep the new parts instead of having them spend more time fixing something that wasn’t broken. In the end, a partial refund was given and I’m happy they are trying to make it right.

This place is great! I was passing through on a roadtrip and most places would scam someone like me. They were honest and took care of problems I had and brought to my attention things that needed to be repaired that I had no idea about. Could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere if they didn’t let me know.

Mike and his crew were refreshingly honest and you could tell it was geniune. I have worked on my own cars since high school so it is really difficult for me to take it in to a shop. But since I don’t have my tools with me, I had no choice. These guys made my decision look like pure genius. Plus they went over and above filling me in on exactly what needed to be done and how much it would cost.
You really cannot go wrong taking your vehicle to Eilenberger’s for anything as I believe they will treat you right.

These are some upstanding folks that just happen to be good at fixing vehicles. I didn’t know what was wrong with my car when I took it in, but they managed to figure it out and fix it, keeping me informed and being transparent the entire time. They were fast to diagnose — they called me with an answer before lunch — and fast to fix — I picked my car up that afternoon.
There was no hard sell, and they gave me a break on some peripheral issues that needed taking care of.

Largely owing to the fact that I’m a single female, my poor car hasn’t been to a certified mechanic in years, but I’m moving out of state soon and wanted to make sure I’d be safe to drive 16+ hours. I chose Eilenberger’s because of the glowing Unilocal reviews and I’m happy to add another.
I called on Tuesday afternoon, dropped my car off on Wednesday morning (they even gave me a ride home), and received a call that afternoon outlining the top safety concerns — without any of those confusing offers to flush this fluid or change that filter. The pricing was up front and clear, and I even had a couple of different options to save money now or go for the full repair.
It’s now Thursday afternoon and my car is ready to go, and I have the peace of mind of knowing that I’ll be safe on the road! I have already recommended Eilenberger’s to my roommates and friends, I’m just sad that I discovered their shop right before leaving Kansas City.

Great place and great one-​stop service. I could go to any number of places and have an auto repair conducted. Eilenberger’s sets themselves apart in the customer experience. Specifically, I enjoy the approach to check out a vehicle and consult with the customer with a document that walks through major areas of the vehicle and what is good, what has potential risk and what should be looked into right away — all of this revealed in a simple way through a green/​yellow/​red color coding. Other unique services that make this a wonderful place to come are the rides to work within mileage reason and the loaner cars for farther areas. Lastly, this is the first automotive service provider that I have experienced that has embraced software technology to such an extent. Eilenberger’s provides access to a web-​based Automotive platform that provides a history of services and service recommendations with the ability to request an appointment. These guys are honest and customer focused. Great place.

I must start out by disclosing that my husband and I know Paul Eilenberger (owner) and Aaron Caldwell (manager), but even if we didn’t, I would be giving this place 5 stars. We’ve been using Eilenberger’s for at least 8 years, maybe more.
It is an independently owned shop, with a conscientious owner and staff. They are fast, as other reviewers have already stated, excellent at what they do, and when they are counseling you on unexpected work your car may need, they are not trying to upsell you for the sake of it (an experience I have had at previous repair and oil changing businesses). They truly want your car to run the best that it can because they know that it is a personal reflection on them. And if they cannot perform a service, they are upfront about it.
My husband and I have a tendency to keep our cars as long as we can. I had a Geo Storm and my husband had a Ford Explorer that we each had for 16 years. When it was time to let them go, the guys at Eilenberger’s said so and told us which car to replace first because they did not want one of us to be stranded due to a mechanical failure.
For you girls out there, I don’t know if you have had the experience of a shop talking down to you (also an experience I have had, especially at dealer-​run shops), but you will not find that here. Paul, Aaron and Mitch treat everyone the same and will take good care of your vehicles.
Additionally, they also care about the community, as you can see by the Harvester’s barrel and the community business card board they keep in their lobby, which, to me, is a good example of the big hearts these guys have.

Fast, friendly and honest service oriented garage. I am so glad I found them and picked them because of their reviews on Unilocal and other social media. I will be taking my car here exclusively!
I was unfortunately put into a position to get a 2^nd opinion when dealing with a competitor. Boy was I glad I went here to get a quick and easy diagnosis which confirmed my suspicions about diagnosis I got from their competitor.

I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! A full-​on automotive repair that has a business-​like attitude. I can usually get an appointment in 24 hours and be in and out right away. They can fix virtually anything.
After getting a couple bids on a big job, they were the lowest! They have a nice waiting room, valet service, clear receipts, and honest, friendly people behind the counter. I COMPLETELY TRUST THEM and will never take my car anywhere else.

Like everyone else I have been to many places for auto repair. But on a whim I looked at Unilocal.Based on the positive review made an appointment for my newer Honda. Staff is polite and friendly and the service was just as the reviewer had said. The car is newer so I knew there would be no added expenses. The real test came when I took my 1999 Honda Civic for an oil change and tune up. They said I didn’t need a tune up just the oil change and one part needed to be replaced. Well I am only sorry I didn’t hear of them a long time ago.

Being new to KC, I have yet to find a place to take my car. So when a friend suggested this place I figured I would give it a try. I was pleasantly pleased with my luck. When I called to make an appointment they kindly listened to my poor imitation of the noise my car was making. They fit me in for the next day and when I dropped my car off, they gave the different scenarios that could be happening with my car. When I was waiting, a kind lady in the office gave the Eilenberger’s all sorts of raves and kudos. After checking my car out, they called to give me the diagnosis and pricing for the operation on my car. They were patient in the explanation and my lack of car knowledge. They were honest and didn’t try to fix anything that didn’t need to be fixed without my consent. When I picked up my car they gave me the run down of what they did and even charged me less than what they quoted to me earlier in the day. And all this took less than a day. I would highly recommend Eilenberger’s to anyone. They even check out new cars before you buy them and will help you find out if you are buying a lemon.
