The beef bone soup with beef tendon is the most TASTELESS and BLANDEST soup I’ve ever eaten my whole life! Not being exaggerated! Try it and tell me!

Great food. The owner is extremely friendly and the food was great. If you go definitely order the Korean dishes. They are excellent!

Back when this was the location of «Rainbow» it was great. REAL Korean food for a great price. Now it is over priced Asian with an identity complex. Is it Korean, Chinese, Sushi? They can’t make up their mind and therefor none of it is very good. I miss Rainbow(even with the language barrier and occasional slow service).

I lived in Chicago for 10 years before moved to KS. I have to say the Korean seafood noodle soup here is authentic and very delicious, just like the one served in the famous Chicago restaurant, Yu’s, back then. Check it out!

First I will like to introduce this place, this is a «Chinese-Korean» restaurant. It is not the same as the normal Chinese food. This is a separate category of Chinese food. The reviews are bad at this place cause of people are reviewing this place base on a different food category. I think we need to clarify the cuisine of this place. Just like I will not review an American Chinese food place on authenticity. I have not tried any of the Americanize Chinese dishes so I cannot review on those items. Food: Now we have that out of the way, let’s start on the important part! Food! Some things I think you need to try at this place are: 1) BLACKBEANSAUCENOODLES(JAJANGMYEON): So delicious, the appearance will not be appetizing due to the color of the black sauce from the black beans. However, trust me it is just like any other great Asian noodle dish. The dish is salty, sweet, and meaty. 2) SPICYSEAFOODANDVEGETABLENOODLE(JJAMPPONG): This is a spicy soupy noodle dish. This has lots of onions, if you do not like onions. DONOTORDERTHISDISH! If you love spicy, soupy, and full of seafood flavor. This is a great dish to try. 3) SWEETANDSOURPORK/CHICKEN: This dish does not taste like any other sweet and sour dishes from other Chinese restaurants. The sauce is not orange but a natural soy sauce and sugar sauce. This is a crispy pork or chicken pieces then the sauce is served separately. The reason is serve this way to ensure crispiness of the meat. Unless you are sharing with the party of 4, try the half order. 4) BONE-ONKOREANFRIENDCHICKEN(YANGNYUMCHICKEN): OMG, spicy and sweet chicken wings! I think that is all I can describe this. However, this order takes forever! Just be prepared that this dish will take longer to prepare. Customer Service: This is a seat down restaurant but very casual. Small and quiet place, I cannot complain but don’t expect like super attentive service cause usually it is just one person. Conclusion: Try those dishes mentioned above! It is good food but different kind of food to try. It is a good place and small restaurant environment. Don’t discourage by the reviews!

My wife and I went to Chopstix this weekend with another couple, and didn’t find the place to be anything special. The restaurant was clean, and the food is Korean-Chinese fusion. The waitress who took our order was on her way out of the door(end of shift) and she got my order wrong(I ordered the General Tso’s chicken, not the tofu). The wait seemed inexplicably long and the entrees arrived at separate times. My wife ordered the Dogani Gomtang, which was utterly flavorless. Our friend ordered the Jjamppong — a spicy noodle soup with seafood and vegetable — which was pretty tasty. My General Tso’s was heavily battered and a little tough for my taste. They include kimchi on the table as a condiment — and it was fresh. However, they do not offer free refills on soda, yet charge«free-refill» prices when all you get is a can. It’s a shame — Chopstix could be our go-to little Asian fusion place based on it’s proximity. Maybe I’ll give it another shot, but the first go-round was not particularly impressive.

Came in during dinner hour. The place was empty. The young Korean-American guy watching the cash register was watching a basketball game and seemed really unimpressed that I was there. I gave him a friendly greeting and he did not respond in kind. He reluctantly came over bringing me a tall glass of water that had maybe one ice cube in it. The menu was small and unimppresive. I was looking for some good cold noodles, which they did not have. So, I went with the bimbimbap w/o meat. The order came out quickly. It was the blandest, most flavorless bimbimbap I have ever eaten. No flavor and the gochujang sauce was nasty. It tasted like runny sugary juice rather than real gochujang sauce, which I’ve had many times. The guy never came back to check on me. While I was eating, a Korean couple came in and I noticed he gave a much friendlier hello and greeting to them. Wow. Racial preference much? He ended up helping the cook in the back. When I came up to pay(he hadn’t even left me my bill), I waited for a good five mintues before he finally came up to the front and noticed me there. Paid, no tip and left. Won’t be back. If you want some really good Korean food, I highly recommend Choga which is located close by to Chopstix behind Pier 1 Imports off of Metcalf. Really good food and friendly service.

Chopstix had very big shoes to fill after Rainbow Restaurant vacated, which I still cannot believe. I have been reluctant to step foot into this establishment because of the memories of Rainbow. It was one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Kansas City so anything that replaced it would always get me into a sour mood. When I actually did get the courage to visit Chopstix, I wasn’t disappointed but I wasn’t impressed either. Sure the place now looks a whole lot better with updated, modern furniture and even a flat screen TV, but the food needed to have fantastic food. Looking over the menu, I was disappointed in the lack of variety. They have Korean as well as Chinese dishes but I couldn’t find my favorite two items: Kimbap and Tteokbokki. The banchan that they provide are only kimchi and pickled radish, which was also a disappointment for me. I also wasn’t privy to the fact that they do not have barley tea, which is a Korean staple. Green tea was also ordered but it was simply hot water in a PROCLUB mug and a green tea bag. That don’t impress me much. Now on to the food: I ended up ordering the Bibimbap but they do not have the stone pot option. In my opinion, the stone pot Bibimbap is a whole lot better because it makes the rice extra crispy and crunchy. I will say that their red sauce for the Bibimbap was very delicious. It had the right kick but also had a great flavor so I would not mind ordering it again. The other ordered a squid dish which, I must say, was very good. The sauce, again, was very flavorful and paired perfectly with the squid. In the end, I am still very sad that Rainbow is gone but I am glad that a restaurant like Chopstix has replaced it. Their food is still very good and that is perfectly acceptable, however, I do think they can do a little better; give me more Korean cuisine options please!

This was a very good lunch and portions where excellent. And only 6.99 for lunch! My only complaint would be that it was so piping hot it burnt my mouth over and over. You can tell it’s all fresh and done right then!

They’ve extended their Korean menu… thank God! We didn’t try but one additional item because we both wanted a bowl of jjajangmyun each. We got a standard bulgogi. It was the sweeter variety and quite good. They didn’t provide multiple banchan, however. It just came with yellow daikon radish and kimchi. No big deal, though, as that is how the last place sometimes served their entrees. The menu also listed a few soups and other entrees. Much more notable than on my first visit. And prices looked pretty reasonable. One bad thing: when I asked for an iced tea, it was a sweetened fountain drink. So, unless that’s what you’re looking for when you want an «iced tea», I recommend drinking something else.

Very impressed with the waiter who explained the menu items to me and offered suggestions. Loved that! Gretat place, clean and fresh looking. I ordered the sushi burrito and could eat that every day! They made me a roll that wasn’t on the menu. I am so impressed with this restaurant d the staff. I will definitely be back!

I’m very disappointed in the former Rainbow Restaurant, now this over priced asian fusion place, which I might add has been completely empty every time I’ve been in there. NOLUNCHMENU? HA! Their Korean options are extremely limited and extremely over priced, and the sushi, meh, no thanks. and thus ends what was a very long relationship with one of my favorite places to eat in all of kansas city. goodbye my old friend, I will miss you.
