So of course while in KC, I started to crave sushi, and this was probably the highest and most rated sushi restaurant in the area, so I decided to drop by. It was so expensive, but the food was good, and for fresh and super good sushi in KC, I couldn’t complain. My favorite? PUMPKINROLL!

Service is always really great, fast, and friendly. The sushi is amazing(Crazy Lobster Roll and Rainbow Rolls are our favorites), the Ramen is off the chain(really good), and the sake choices are legit. My favorite sushi place in KC!

Super friendly and helpful. Delicious sushi– quality food — ranks highly. Made a special birthday really fun and the small private rooms upfront are terrific for a group.

We enjoyed our evening with some great sushi. Place was packed and the service was decent. Definitely recommend trying some of the house rules they didn’t disappoint sitting at the bar during a busy service made for an entertaining evening.

The wording for a two star experience of «meh, I’ve experienced better» fits Sushi House perfectly. I have no idea how this place has four stars. I came for lunch and ordered three rolls; a spicy tuna, spicy salmon and a yellowtail and scallion roll. The tuna was ground up but the salmon and yellow tail were in hunks. Neither of the spicy rolls were spicy at all. The rolls were about 75% rice with barely any fish in them. My waiter never came to check on me and never refilled my water. For a total of almost $ 30 for lunch, you can easily find better sushi in the area than this.

I have been to Sushi House at least a dozen times over the last few years but I went tonight and for the first time it was not a good experience. We ordered a new roll that we hadn’t tried and after each trying a piece we were not happy with it. Our server just said«well at least you can say you tried it,» when spending $ 16 for a roll of sushi the least I expected was an offer to make us a different roll. We spent over $ 70 and I felt like the server barely gave us any attention and we waited for 10 minutes to have our bill completed after the card had been placed inside. I will definitely return but this was not a good visit.

This place is my jam. This is the freshest sushi in town and the closest to sushi you can get on the coasts. Crazy lobster roll, galbi, and tropical roll are the best(and their sashimi is amazing too). Don’t miss it.

Great Sushi, Great Salad, The owner is a nice guy, and Jerry the manager does an excellent job. I love Juns, but I think Sushi House is the best in town.

Today I dined at the Sushi House for the first time. The food was very fresh, flavorful and unique! I had the Roller Coaster, the Crazy Lobster and the Lobster Harmony. Each was unique & fun with a beautiful appearance on the plate. Each roll was $ 15-$ 16.95 which I thought was a bit steep, but can see why they were so much due to the labor involved with each roll. They included topping and ingredients such as finely diced mango, finely diced jalapeño as well as one of my rolls having an almost paper thin kiwi slice on each slice! Very tasty! The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired in my opinion. I’m not a huge fan of eat at the sushi bar with a lunch tray in front of you. Perhaps that’s due to the fact that I eat sushi with my hands and a fork because I look like a clumsy ox using chop sticks! My server was pleasant, however he served me from around back over my shoulder due to the awkward sushi bar seating which I found a bit odd. But other than that I had a great experience. In the future I will likely go to Sushi House for take out rather than a dine-in experience.

When you’re landlocked in KC, sushi is not the first thing that springs to your mind to munch on, right? Well to all my coastal big city transplants out there, if you are ever having those sushi cravings in KC, I would recommend this spot for sure. It is a small establishment, in a shopping plaza, but do not let that fool you. The nigiri sushi is fresh and the cuts are well prepared. If you are more of a soup person, I highly recommend their Nabeyaki Udon. I have not yet tried their rolls because i tend to order sashimi/nigiri… but they look creative and — most importantly– fresh. Their service is impeccable and fast — so whether you are pressed for time on a lunch break or want a laid back dinner in one of their private rooms(where you take off those shoes), Sushi House is a good bet.

The Bento box has a ton of food! Biggest box I’ve had. I had the lunch special and the price was very reasonable. I got the steak and it was cooked medium rare and the sushi was good. The miso was very good. The salad was really cold but that’s my only food complaint. The atmosphere is clean and stylish, but I don’t like that all the windows are frosted. I really like being able to see outside. All in all, great sushi, service, and atmosphere. I’ll be back.

Do not come here on a Friday evening or without reservations. It should not take 30 minutes to prepare sushi. Especially without having the manager coming over to apologize for the slow service. Maybe I’ll update my review to talk about the sushi if I ever come back. But for now…

I followed the Unilocal reviews to this cozy restaurant in Town Center and am really glad I did. I sat at the bar and had a very attentive server. I started with iced green tea and perused the sushi menu. I ended up talking to owner and chef Jin behind the bar, who explained uni was not good quality. However, they rotate other special seafood twice a week so there is always something new to try. The special fish of the day included madai(Japanese snapper), toro, and salmon belly. I ordered one of each of those along with whole scallop, tako, ika, saba, hamachi, and amaebi plus a yellowtail-jalapeño handroll. The handroll was made immediately, and it was full of delicious hamachi. Next, I received the majority of my nigiri on one platter, and everything was so fresh and delicious. My third plate had the scallop sushi, amaebi and fried head served on shredded daikon. I like the fried shrimp heads, and this one was particularly hot and flavorful. Everything was so good that I felt the desire to order more. I ordered one more piece each of madai and salmon belly, and one more amaebi with fried head. I enjoyed my experience and felt comfortable dining solo at the bar. I would return.

GLUTENFREESUSHIMENU and a nice little happy hour. I want to say the happy hour was 3 – 6 monday-saturday. But please do not quote me on this-I could be wrong. The service was excellent-very surprised by this since it was younger people who are not normally as attentive now days. We arrived about 10 min before happy hour was done, we did not order alcohol we were both not feeling 100% that day. The waiter brought out hot wet towels to clean our hands with. I asked for the GF menu expecting some small piece of paper with 5 rolls on it. Not the case, he brought me out a nice bound menu-2 pages long with apps, sushi rolls, combo plates, lunches etc on it. I was elated! You have no idea. I asked him if we could get the order in quick so we could get the happy hour prices on some of the rolls-he complied. The happy hour rolls are about $ 1.50 less-which adds up. We ordered 4 rolls: philly, spicy salmon, tuna and Alaskan crab. They were a little smaller than I expected(maybe b/c it was happy hour). But the taste was very fresh-the Alaskan crab with the Jap mayo was our favorite. We ended up ordering another roll-we were still hungry. They have gluten free soy sauce as well. For drinks we ordered hot green tea-I think it may be the gun powder green tea, those of you familiar with the different types. You do not get the whole«pot» they bring out an individual cup that is VERY hot. The atmosphere is relaxed; they have a bar you can sit at with a few brewskies on tap. I also noticed wine and hard liquor. The tables are very bare-literally no decorations on them. The restaurant is pretty small-maybe about 20 tables. They have a private in ground table behind a door(you have to take your shoes off to sit there) I think it’s for a bigger party. We will be back-heck I will probably go for lunch once a week since my office is maybe a mile away.

Sushi House was in the Leawood Town Center. I came here for dinner because it was restaurant week. I don’t think some of the food on the restaurant week menu was on their normal menu unless I just missed it. There were a lot of people here and probably because of restaurant week but it could have been a coincidence. Nobody was sitting at the sushi bar so that was where I sat. I saw there was three private rooms towards the front of the restaurant with sliding doors for privacy. I ordered the Japanese Haru Maki, Wakasaya Steak and Veggie Donburi, and the Tempura Fried Ice Cream(this was $ 7 on their normal menu). In addition, I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll($ 7.50) from their normal menu to try their sushi. I waited awhile before my food came out. The sushi chefs were all busy making rolls for other tables and one person was making alcoholic beverages. The Japanese Haru Maki were pretty much two egg rolls sliced in two. Of course, it was a different style of egg roll. It was good in my opinion as well as the sauce I dipped them in. The Spicy Tuna Roll came out next and they were spicy. It was fresh and tasted like other sushi places I’ve been to. The Wakasaya Steak and Veggie Donburi looked good and tasted good as well. The sauce was plentiful but began to be a little too much. The portion was just right for one person. Finally, the Tempura Fried Ice Cream was the last dish. The waiter asked if i wanted vanilla or green tea ice cream. I chose the green tea ice cream and it came out within a few minutes. It was interesting because I have never seen a dessert like that. I thought it was delicious so I finished everything on the plate including the whipped cream. Good food here and I wouldn’t mind coming back if I wanted sushi and was in the area. Service here was good, too. Check it out!
