An ad on Unilocal directed me to this restaurant as I was driving through Oroville on my way to Chico. I was looking for a great Bloody Mary and brunch, and their ad showcased just that. So after driving 15 minutes out of my way, we arrived at a ghost town(the whole town of Oroville is apparently deserted). The business listing shows that they are open, but they’re not. Thanks for wasting 30 minutes of my time. Update your business info please. And tell Unilocal you don’t want to be showcased on searches for brunch.

Second time here. Nice place however the house beer is just ok to me. For sure worth a try the next time you are in Oroville

Knew this place was gonna shut down. Owner was an idiot. Knew nothing about running a business.

I was a Regular at wppd, I have witnessed what the bad reviews say,(and about the owner, wow right?) Never saw him with women, I just saw the ego. Food is hit and miss, I am willing to pay 10 $ for a salad bar, but not that one. Dressings are AWEFUL, I had mentioned nicely(about dressings) before to no avail. Great place to get your dirty drunk on in Oroville, and that is all, in my opinion. You cannot be drunk and run a proper business. I know I am a business owner myself. Management needs to get it together. I will not go back there until change of ownership. Weird environment.

That was 90 minutes of my life and $ 50 I’ll never get back. Dry, tasteless burger and disappointingly bland venison chili omlette. It tasted like canned chili. Breakfast came after an hour of waiting. The only highlight was the bloody mary.

Yet another operator has stepped up to the plate for this great historic building to try to bring his vision of how a bar should be run in Oroville. Over priced pub food prepared in some far off unseen kitchen. I paid $ 5.50 for a cup of Chile. The serving size was the measurement of a cup… literally. It was good but WAY overpriced for what it was. Entryway smells like piss. Fractured glass in the entryway makes the place feel slimy. The owner struts around with a cocktail in his hand making sure that everyone knows it his place with a googly eyed floozy around his arm waiting to bed him in a dirty back room. The bartender is attentive but appears to be drunk or stoned by the glazed look in his face. Not sure why I go here.

First time experience… Went there on an hour lunch break from work, to try out the salad bar hoping that the price was too pricy. A one trip salad bar was ~$ 9.89, can’t imagine what all-you-can-eat would cost! The dressings were jell-O consistency and not to my linking. Venison chili was yummy. Won’t be going back for the salad bar. Wayyyy to pricy for a salad bar, when you can get $ 5.99 salad bar, drink, soup and ice cream at Gold Country Casino. :) Always room for improvement though

I give them props on their adventurous spirit when it comes to the food. My bf got an elk burger and I got craw dad Mac and cheese. Pretty good but not amazing. I deff understand everyone’s complaint about service. It’s like everyone’s first day there but everyone was nice though. Like anywhere in Oroville, it was not without its trashy-ness. I guess it’s hard to not compare to Sierra Nevada.

I heard about this place on the radio. Game food(venison, bison, wild boar, rabbit, quail, etc) which sounded interesting. So on my way home from work, Saturday 06⁄13; the guys and I figured we should try it out which was the biggest mistake. Its hard to find a good place to eat with decent food and drinks, but we couldn’t be more wrong about this place. It was worst than just the food. Who wants to pay $ 20 a plate for bad food, drinks, and an unprofessional environment. Our server, Ang was really nice, she sat us down and took our drink order quickly and explained a lot of the menu to us. She was the only good thing about the experience, the only reason I gave this place a star. She tried her best to get the food out promptly. We seen her a few times asking the cooks how long on our order. It was completely dead in there, we counted over 30 tables and we were the only table. The place looked run down and unsanitary. We order appetizers and waited over 20 minutes for it. The Chef’s Sampler was horrible, so greasy. A bunch of vegetables battered and deep fried on top of some old purple cabbage. The appetizers are mainly deep fried vegetables: zucchini, pickles, mushrooms, fries, etc. We also order Crawdad Mac & Cheese came out and it looked like a blow of soup with oil on the top. I didn’t even want to stay after the appetizers came out. I tried to order a beer that was made there, DD blonde and of course, they was out of it. So I proceeded to order a Moscow Mule which was poorly made and tasted nothing like a usual one. The owner came and introduce himself to us and asked us and told us about the menu and how it focus on grass fed animals, basically farm to table with no GMO. I highly doubt it. He asked us how we was doing plenty of times, «Stave». Knowing that we have been waiting on our food for so long, he got us some free drinks. He didn’t even ask my coworker for his ID, and he was only 19. Clearly«Stave» was intoxicated, you can smell it on his breath and he was slurring. We got our salads, our server apologized to us because they have a salad bar there. She literally had to make our salads in front of us. It is a strange set up, you can clearly see she was uncomfortable with it, too. We then waited another 20 minutes for our entrees. All of our plates were bland and didn’t have any sort of flavor. I had the Chicken Parmesan and there was so much cheese and sauce, I couldn’t even taste the chicken. The sauce was supposedly«home made» but it was obviously a cheap brand of canned tomato sauce without any flavor. My friend had the Quail Alfredo and the meat wasn’t even cooked all the way. It was still bleeding. We barely touched our entrees. This place is a total complete mess. Our bill came up to $ 200 after tax and tip for the 5 of us. Word of advise: It’s Oroville, nobody has that kind of money. So my coworkers talked me into having drinks at the bar after dinner. There was a few people in there for the live band. You can’t tell which person is an employee and which was a customer. There was a tall red head who was drinking at the bar, completely intoxicated, in Daisy Duke Shorts, loud, and ranting something. She then went behind the bar and poured herself a drink and then left. I went to use the restroom and asked Ang who she was, she told us that her name was Megan and she was actually the manager. I was appalled by her behavior, not only that, she was actually drinking with Stave, «the owner». I can honestly say he does not know one single thing about running a good business. He was giving out free alcohol and letting the bartender over pour to compensate for not knowing how to make drinks properly. Stave was talking to customers like a big shot, can’t tell you how many time I overheard him say«I’m the owner» in the short amount of time we was there. He came across as one of the biggest arrogant douche bag I ever met. This is more of his personal party spot and not a business for him. Our server came up to us and asked if we needed anything and Stave made it a point to interrupt our conversation and make her rate him as a «Boss» from 1 – 10 in front of all the customers. You can tell she was uncomfortable and embarrassed. Towards the end of our night, «the owner» was sitting at the bar with a lady who was extremely intoxicated, flirting and buying her shots after shots. He takes her into his personal office and obviously was having intercourse with her. When I went to use the restroom, there was a few of his buddies knocking on his door like some frat boys and employees looking for him. It’s was totally disgusting and said a lot about him and his place of business. We left after that. We will never be returning to this place and if you’re smart you won’t waste your time or money.

We were super excited to eat here. Service was very very awful. She was slow, got orders wrong, never refilled drinks, took forever to get drinks from the bar, messed up our bills. The worst part was that there was nobody else in the restaurant. Worst server ever. Should have went to Feather Falls Brewery!

I had high hopes for this place. The outside was nice with the train and the tank out front, but that’s where it ended for me. I didn’t feel like I was at a brewery. No one at the bar was drinking beer(all mixed drinks)…the younger bartender acted like it was weird that I asked for a flight. The beer itself is absolutely terrible. The best one was the guest beer on tap(which no one told me what it was when I received my flight). I took one or two sips out of each sample and then left… will not be back. Can’t speak for the food though, didn’t stick around long enough to order any.

Fun atmosphere with live music in the bar, but quiet and comfortable in the restaurant area. Chicken Parmesan was excellent and cocktails were generously poured. Looking forward to heading back!

The burgers are probably the best option. I had the wild boar raviolis and there was almost no meat in them. I couldn’t taste anything but pasta. They have 5 beers, and 2 of them they were out of, so that was sort of weird. My husband was disappointed because his favorite type was one of the ones they were out of. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, about 30 minutes before the dinner service started. I really wanted a dinner dish, so our waitress was great about checking with the kitchen to see if they were done with prep. Turns out not(totally fine), but then she didn’t take my order to put it in asap and came back 15 minutes after the dinner service started and we ordered. Then a new waitress replaced her and it took her a while to get us food/the check. The owner/manager asked us several times if we were ok, and we said yes every time, but he could clearly see we were being ignored.

Yum. If you are an adventurous carnivore type, then this is your place. The menu entices with a selection of meats that simply isn’t duplicated anywhere in this area. I had the bison burger, it was flavorful and juicy. They make everything in house and I enjoy all the unique in flavors. No worries about selecting a meal, the guys working here are helpful and ready to answer any question you can throw their way. Bonus, nearly all of their meats are a lot leaner than beef, so your heart and waistline will thank you. Awesome Burgers & Garlic fries

I completely agree with Kevin C. «This may be a fun bar, but do not take your family for dinner. Food and service takes forever. Food is bad…» I heard about their Wild game menu through Unilocal and thought it sounded interesting, there is also a new change of ownership. I went to a special Wild game wine dinner in Nov 2013 at the Steak House and believe me, Wild game can be delicious and tasteful. I really like deer/venison! We came in for lunch, and the whole place was dead empty. At first, I thought they were not open, but it is a weird set up of the bar near entrance, tables/chairs, juke box, dance floor area, and was kind of confusing where the kitchen is located. Bar tender was behind the bar, she gave us menus, then we sat ourselves. Because of the atmosphere, I started feeling uncomfortable, the bar tender girl took our order, left our menus with us on the table(which was a small table btw), they just sat there the whole time, it was very strange awkward, I’ve never had that happen before in a restaurant!?! The place was very quiet, perhaps too quiet, and then for some reason bartender girl turned on the juke box music SUPERLOUD!!! Omg, it was like night club LOUD!!! Food did take a loooong time and we were the only customers :(After all the music, she turned on the TV, so then there was only TV background noise and that was alright. By the time we got our food, I felt sick, like I didn’t want to eat. Two guys brought out our food from a side door, so I assumed the kitchen was back in that area, and one of them noticed the menus still sitting on our table, he was very polite and said, let me take those. We only had waters and bar tender girl never came to check on us or refill them, and I was thirsty, she pretty much stayed behind the bar area, I had to get up and go ask her for the check too. The Fried pickles appetizer was overcooked, definitely seemed burnt, the Ranch was watery runny, it was terrible, inedible. My Bison burger was SALTY, it did have blue cheese on it, but it was overly salty taste. I paid about $ 30 with tax and tip for appetizer and two lunches, left majority of food on table uneaten. It was not a good experience and honestly I just wanted to get out of there asap and Nope I won’t be going back ever again!!! They have A LOT to work on, especially with customer service and cooking. On a positive note, might be a great place to go get drinks and get drunk, but not eat food and inside the restaurant/bar is very old looking, does not look clean or sanitized, lots of wear and tear, dim lighting!

This may be a fun bar, but do not take your family for dinner. Food and service takes forever. Food is bad. Ordered a variety of things. The craw dad Mac and cheese looked like a bowl of clam chowder with a few noodles buried in there and melted cheese. Like stringy, melted cheese soup. I travel 5 states for work, eat out at least 6 times per week, and am not a picky person. This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in years.

I had the sliders(elk-under cooked, boar-under cooked slightly, venison-over cooked slightly) but all very tasty came with white cheddar and mayo. They were plated on some romaine lettuce that was old. My boyfriend had the venison chili cheese burger which he said was tasty and the fries were very good. His Moscow mule drink was excellent! Overall nice play to eat outside but lunch is a bit pricey but I will be back to try dinner.

We went there for lunch but they were in the middle of changing ownership so they weren’t serving any food, we had a Bloody Mary which was delish and we will be back for lunch. The place is a little outdated but they are going to do some remodeling, can’t wait to see when they’re done. it’s a really cool place :)
