Social Security Administration

On hold for 49 minutes. My call was finally answered but in the middle of the Social Security representative giving me instructions the call dropped.

Office tells you to send original documents to change your name. Sent originals but some incompetent worker received them and failed to mark them as such. Caused the request to be rejected. Decided to go in person. No online system to make an appointment. Called to make one over the phone. After being on hold for over 4 hours listening to background music the call dropped. Called again. After another 2 hours and 28 minutes on hold the office closed. Frustrating. Waited a few weeks. Tried again. Repeat of the past experience. Tried again a week later. Same thing. Every call requires listening to a long recording that gives excuses for the horrible service. I cannot believe how bad this is.

I'm a retired government employee with the US Army. If we operated the sorry way SSA does, this country would be overthrown in a hurry. The online services are non-existent. None of the pages and links help in any way. You are sent in a constant loop and can get nowhere. The phone is a frustrating laugh. NO ONE ever answers the phone. NO WAY to make an appointment. I waste days and hours trying to contact a live person. I believe the SSA is full of incompetent low life's who got their jobs because they are a minority. No brains, no education and definitely no compassion for people they are supposed to help.

Regardless of the time of day you come expect to wait for a parking spot and expect to wait in line to get into the building and expect to wait to be called up. All in all, expect a wait. The office opens at 9am. I arrived at 8:30am and there was already a long line at the door and no parking spaces. Parking is limited for the capacity of the building. Take note of the two entrances. If you need card services go to suite 102. There are restrooms in the building. Once in the building you will get a number and they will call over the intercom. The process is smooth but just the wait is tiring. Best of luck!

this place doesn’t even deserve ONE STAR. It is small and poorly designed for the huge amount of traffic it gets. People wait in line to find a parking spot by the building if one ever opens up or they go across the street at the ⁷⁄₁₁ or you can drive down further and park at Walgreens. Once you have FINALLY found a parking spot you have to walk back to the office where there is a line about a block long and it moves very slowly. Apparently, like most government run businesses, this one is no different in that it is slow and they allow people to cut in line, then once inside you have another long line to wait in. The whole place is a joke. One of the worse experiences in my life. They don’t allow you to make appointments unless you have small children and even some of those people aren’t allowed to make appointments for some unknown reason. They allow old and young to stand and wait in line. This place is just another way our «great government» is showing is appreciation to we the people.

Calling this place is impossible. If you are lucky and they do answer, you are hooked to someone that clearly doesn’t care at all for customer service. You can barely hear them and so you have to keep asking them to repeat. If you do that too much, they hang up on you. The only reason I give this 2 stars is because the guy that finally helped us at the office was understanding and kind and actually helped me with my issues.

If you live in central Florida and need to get a new card this is your only option. Bite the bullet and wait in line like everyone else. It does not matter what time you come, you will likely wait anywhere from 1 – 3 before you are seen. They do not accept appointments. You will not receive the actual card day of. You will get a letter stating the change and a new card arrives via mail.
I waited outside for about an hour before I even entered the building to receive a number that marks my official place in line. The office closes at 4 p.m. and I was called at 5 minutes till. I do not know what happens if your number falls after that time…
Once I was seen it was easy enough. Be prepared. Have your papers filled out and related documents ready to go. Staff was averagely friendly and I was on my way.

Come wait for hours with the dregs of society. A perfect example why government has no business running anything.

They open at 9am and definitely plan to arrive to earlier before they actually open. People normally stand in line outside before it opens and they go by ticket number. So the closest you are in front of the line the faster you’ll get serviced. Make sure you have all necessary documents for what you’re there for otherwise they will turn you away. If you have everything they need, the process will be fast. Expect to wait longer in line than to get your documents processed. Service there is straight forward. If you’re not sure you have everything you need, best to call instead of having to stand in line and then wait to ask someone to only get turned away if you don’t have everything they need.

When I entered the building and saw that there was standing room only I assumed I would be there most of the day. Even though there were 70 people ahead of me I was done in less than an hour and a half. The facility is very clean and comfortable. The security guards were professional, pleasant and helpful. The gentleman who took care of my application for my replacement Social Security card was extremely efficient and friendly. When I left the line was out the door. Get there early!

It’s a government Facility expect to wait. At least you can take a number. The security guards are helpful and nice. So are the people that you meet with. Lady I was assigned with Told me exactly what I was missing and where I can find those documents.

I went to this location to change my name since I recently got married. They open at 8:30AM, so I got there at 7:45AM and was one of the first 10 people in line. By the time they opened, there were at least 30 people waiting. I had my application completed before I got there & had every document that they could possibly need. The security guard came out around 8:20AM to give everyone in line the applications that needed one so they could get started. At 8:30AM, they let us in to get a number. I was in and out in probably 15 minutes once the doors opened. Yeah, lines can be long, so get there early and have everything you need. I was expecting a nightmare, but it was painless.

Went on Friday the 20^th at around 8−9am, was a pretty fast service in and out in an hour and the lady I dealt with was very nice!
The one thing that annoyed me was the ‘security guard’ who was constantly rude throughout my time there! He was shouting at people to keep quiet, being rude and disrespectful with a constant attitude trying to be authoritative. His attitude stinks, he’s paid to be a guard not to treat everyone there like garbage! Fortunately I didn’t have to deal with him myself, but I had to witness the way he spoke with everyone else and I was shocked. Fire the guard and you’d have the best office in the world. Wonder how many others have complained about him?

So much faster than I expected. If you have all of your documents ready all you have to do is get a ticket and wait your turn. There were over 25 people ahead of me and I was in and out in an hour. It’s a government agency of course there are going to be a lot of people there. Just go prepared and it’s really not that bad.

Why anyone comes to an office like this and expects in-​and-​out service always baffles me. We wait an hour for a doctor, countless hours at an emergency room, and up to an hour for a decent restaurant. Heck, we even wait an hour for a 30 second ride at a theme park.
The difference here is you take a number, and they call numbers. At least you can see how fast or slow the process is moving. My biggest complaint is in how long they wait for people that aren’t there. It’s a 10 second walk to the window. If you call a number and nobody comes in a minute, they left. Call the next number please.
I found the guards to be helpful in keeping things orderly, despite the constant complaining by people who wouldn’t be here if they didn’t lose their card in the first place.
Nice, new clean building. Plenty of parking, and nice enough gov employees.
All they need here is a hot dog cart outside or a food truck.

Came here to get a replacement ss card. Should of came in early in the morning, as I waited almost 3 hours but my fault for coming in the afternoon. Nothing but problems when I first drove in, no parking, people acting wild over parking spots, security guard disrespected me after I asked a simple question to make sure I was in the right line. Only pleasant experience was when they called my number and I got to speak to the nicest guy that helped me order a new card.

Get there at least about 30 minutes prior to the posted hours it opens — otherwise expect to be in line all day. If you get there after lunch you might be going back the next day.

Literally the worst people on the planet work at this place. 2 hour + waits and zero helpfulness. Showed up at 10:30 am and waited until 12:00 pm to see someone, she told me there was an error on their side and to come back with another document that I wasn’t told to bring in the first place. She said she would be back after lunch and I could come right up to her. I come back when she tells me and I wait… and wait… and after about 30 minutes I ask the guard where she is, he says he doesn’t know who or where she is, and to just wait at her window. Another 15 minutes passes and I ask the guy working next to her window. He said «She’s gone for the day». Desperately, I begged him to help me and explained that the error is not on my part but the SSA’s and I’ve done everything I can to help them and he said, with an attitude, «The way you can help me is by taking a number and waiting in line». I left the office around 2:15 pm and accomplished nothing.
Avoid this place at all costs!

Like most government offices they are not the peak of efficiency until around 2:30pm (closing time at 3). One thing I did like was that the manager had from time to time opened up one window to review the applications and check the documents people had to file their forms. I imagine that could save a great deal of heartache and grief by sitting around for hours only to find that you do not have the right forms or documents to support them. Given the chance the best bet would be to make an appointment for your business in advance. They handled my case in a quick manner once I was seated.

I must say that I was completely impressed by how fast and efficient they were. I was in an out in less than an hour with no appointment. I walked in on a Tuesday at 215pm, I was out the door by 3pm. Also, there are two separate offices for social security purposes within the one plaza style building. If you are in need of a new social security card or name change, etc. the building 2 is where you need to be.

My experience here was much like any other when trying to deal with goverment bureaucracy, less than impressed. I had lost my SS card and needed a replacement. So you drive over here with your credentials and wait in a crowded room for a long time, while un motivated, over paid government workers impress you with their lack of concern for your time. I feel sorry for the folks that have to go here on a regular basis and hope I do not need to make a return trip any time soon.

It’s located near the International Airport. I had to go because I needed a new SS card as mine was busted. I went online and filled out the paperwork ahead of time like a good girl and headed to the office around 1:45, they close at 3pm. The door closed at 3pm, they help everyone in the office with a number though.
Walked in with 40 people ahead of me and for what seemed to be hours in between each person, numbers were being called. I didn’t get it though, as soon as someone was called, I swear they were only back there 5 minutes.
However, the place is very clean and neat so I didn’t mind much waiting. What really got under my skin while I was waiting was the «security guard» in the waiting room. He answered questions, locked the door, played on his phone… but what REALLY errked me was one family left and gave him their number because he helped them. He then gave it to the next person to walk in the door, they ended up being 15 people ahead of me. That made me furious. Then, when he locked the door at 3pm, one person came through and he gave them another number that was ahead of other people. I get it he was trying to be nice, but wow, I was furious.
Anyway, when my number was called, I think I was only there a total of 45 minutes, the process was super quick, painless and I had a very nice gentleman.
Just keep an eye out for that guard!

This place is way the heck out there, mostly because it services all of Seminole, Osceola, and Orange county. So unless you live right in the area, you’re in for a drive. Trust me, the trip from Sanford is not fun. Ok so don’t be surprised if there are absolutely no parking spaces. Because there won’t be. But whatever you do, do NOT park illegally as they WILL tow you (they’ve towed 2 cars in the last hour I’ve been here), and don’t try to be smart and park at the 7 – 11 either. They’ll tow you from there too. I parked in the apartment complex behind the 7 – 11 as advised by the security guard who works here. He said that’s the safest place to park if you can’t park in the lot. Oh yes and wear deodorant, people! A hundred sweaty bodies crowded in a hot room is bad enough. We don’t need B.O. too. So yeah, that about wraps it up.
