I absolutely love Dragonfly — its my go-to sushi whenever I’m in Orlando. Its pricey but its an experience. They do restaurant week so that’s a great time to go if you’re just trying it out. I always have made reservations and they never make me wait or have issues with large parties, which I appreciate. Delicious cocktails and of course sushi!

My favorite restaurant without question. All others are compared to Dragonfly and no way will I pay more to eat anywhere else. Fire me up wasabi is my favorite roll. Hoping they open a location in Tampa.

I was very disappointed and underwhelmed by Dragonfly. My boyfriend and I were in town to see family and friends, which we convinced to try here because of the reviews. Not only was the food mediocre, but the service was downright awful. Our waitress was extremely rude to our party. We will never be back, and neither will our friends who live in the area!

Whenever I travel to FL, Dragonfly is fit into my travel itinerary. I’ve been to the Gainesville and Orlando locations probably a dozen times over the past several-both which are equally amazing. The service: always excellent. More recently, my party and I had to make a few changes to our reservation at the last minute. The host and servers were very accommodating and professional, even though we came in 15 mins till closing. Our glasses of water were always kept full and the server was nice enough to bring a treat for the birthday we were celebrating. The food: after having nearly every roll on the menu, I’d have to say that The Classic roll is by far the best(probably why it is a classic). You’d think that between the baking of the roll and all the sauces, you’d lose the flavor of the fish, but you dont! If you are looking to watch the carbs, the Euro Trance roll is a refreshing and filling option that has no rice. My must order appetizer is the bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms. I’ve tried to replicate them myself but something about the grill makes the texture and flavor unforgettable. Dessert: Fried Cheesecake!!! With ice cream. You won’t regret it. We all had to take a moment after the first bite. Drinks: Hand crafted cocktails that are unique but approachable. I recommend the Lychee cocktail. Overall, Dragonfly serves quality food and drinks at a reasonable price. It is definitely the benchmark that I use to compare to other sushi spots. So far nothing has come close!

After craving sushi for far too long, my fiancé and I decided to stop by for an early dinner and satisfy our sushi fix; this ended up being a good decision. Since we are watching our weight, we ONLY ordered 4 rolls(yes, sarcasm) as well as an order of their Braised Short Ribs. The rolls(Big Boss, Mango Tango, Hoshi and Spicy Tuna) were all good/delicious, but I can’t honestly call them excellent. I’m a huge fan of texture and I think this is where the rolls failed to satisfy, although the there really wasn’t any ‘wow’ factor to them either. Maybe it’s because the waitress made it seem as if all their meat options were tiny, but the braised short ribs were actually a pleasant surprise; they were tender and sitting in a highly tasty sauce with flavorful mushrooms. Doesn’t sound like a 4-star rating yet, huh? Well the drinks were awesome. We ordered the Dance of the Lychee, Shochu Mojito, Mushashi’s Paddle and a pint of Cigar City Invasion. Sadly we weren’t able to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials since we sat at a table inside, but I would gladly return to have more of these cocktails. So I’d say their sushi was a bit overpriced, but I see myself returning from time to time for their drinks and non-sushi options.

Best sushi. hands down. MUST try the japanese scallop shooters — life changing. I’m serious! I also love getting the uni nigiri with a quail egg on top. YUM! Recently tried the pork belly ramen… SOGOOD! You can’t go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu. It has a great atmosphere and is perfect for a date night or just an intimate night out. Highly recommend!

Yo I feel really bad the food sucked but the waitor was hella nice and tried really hard. Took my parents there and they’re total suckers for Japanese food. I could tell they got a little upset when the servers didn’t really know what they were talking about. We got the Omakase and a bunch of other dishes like the Gyu Tan and the Wagyu. The halibut was supposed to be a modern sushi, so there wasn’t that umami taste, but it was reaaaaally bland, the gyu tan was quite small(like about 0.5″ x 0.25″ cubes on a stick) so we had to kind of eat two or three cubes at a time. The wagyu was hella thin and small it was hard to really get a taste of the meat. The hotate(which the server pronounced as «hotay») was alright — I think the flavor all went into the mushrooms though. The miso cod was good, but what can go wrong with miso cod? The best thing we had was probably the dessert that went with the Omakase. That was very good.

Visiting Orlando area and was craving sushi. I tried this spot out based on Unilocal reviews. Nice atmosphere and staff. I sat on the patio and it was perfect with a nice breeze. I ordered the Omakase 4 course and it was tasty. Not great but good. The whiskey flight was really great and promoted me to go buy a bottle. lol It’s really hard to rate a sushi place on one visit and I usually go for the Omakase to give the chef a chance to shine. Like I said good but not great.

One of the better sushi stops in the Orlando area. I usually find myself here during happy house which has a great menu with drink specials and small plate/roll specials. I’ve had a variety of sushi rolls and other assorted menu items and I can say I have never disliked a portion on my plate. Pro tip: Grab a table on the patio, if the weather allows, and order a cucumber vodka. You can thank me later.

I love that you can get dressed to the nines and come here for dinner, or keep it casual and enjoy happy hour in jeans. Preferably on the patio. I haven’t had any drinks yet, but the food blew me away. Ordered a few random things off the menu and didn’t dislike a single item. I’ve been twice so far this month and am anxiously awaiting my next visit.

I don’t know if I want to describe this journey but I will try! In short it was an orgasm of taste. The courses were visually appealing and tasted great and aromas that you experience after biting into it and the textures you feel in your mouth. The chef really made sure you hit everything. The service was great, we had the whole staff come to the table to bring or present at least a dish. The chef came to our table twice to serve us and describe the food. Botanical and flowers; part of that freshness and also being in the season. I would like to come again in the winter to see what he will put. Coming in the spring, he made sure the season was incorporated in every dish, as well as visually looking at the wall of herbs growing by the window. The wine pairing also perfect and never were overpowering the food, but really always complementing. The name journeyman is really the perfect name to describe this restaurant.

Top notch Asian American spin on Japanese izakaya and sushi. The quality of the food and cocktails rivals that of its class in wealthy big cities. It is set in a large space in a new and upscale shopping mall and residential development(Dellagio). We sat outside in the covered patio, a great spot in the spring in Orlando. Service was attentive and the food arrived quickly after placing the order. My only complaint was the crush of plates crowding the table. We ordered two cocktails: Mugi Down South, a slightly spicy shochu based drink, and the Spring Fling, a beautiful opaque and purple gin based concoction. Both were well balanced with excellent visual appeal. We tried two kushiyaki skewers from the Robata Grill, the tontoro(pork cheek) and gyutan(beef tongue). Both were tender and succulent. Despite the names, I could not identify them as cheek or tongue which made it much easier to feed it to my kids! The portions on the skewers were somewhat larger than the kushiyaki I’ve had in Japan. The sushi was beautiful and delicious. We had yellowtail, scallop, wahoo, and grilled eel nigiri. There are two pieces per order and they are larger than the typical Japanese servings. The kitchen made an effort to properly plate the nigiri. Each was presented without crowding the other pieces. The rolls are well designed and presented. The spicy yellowtail roll had large pieces of yellowtail down the center and was topped by the spicy sriracha mayo on the roll rather than mixed in with the fish as is typical with most other sushi restaurants. The uni maki was deliciously buttery. Not the most visually appealing but in the form of a roll was easily eaten by my son. The Black and Bleu roll was really cool, a medium rare ribeye maki wrapped in a pink colored rice wrapper rather than nori. We also ordered crispy pigs ear and edamame as appetizers to go with our drinks. They were also well prepared but we were so full they had to be wrapped up!

I normally come here for one of my good friends birthday. This time I arrived it was a rainy evening and they had a basket there to put everyone’s wet umbrella in. I went to the bar and tried the hot sake. Lately I have been on a sake kick and enjoyed the restaurant house hot sake. When everybody else arrived for the birthday I was unable to transfer my drink to my table so I had to finish it at the bar and pay for it there. It wasn’t an issue but the option would have been nice. The restaurant had recently changed venues which normally concerned me with my food allergies that I might no longer be able to get this restaurant. When I told my server he said don’t worry we have a vegan menu. They had brought together all their dishes that was written into one menu and it made my night. I tried really hard not to order everything on the menu. I did order like 3 things. Each dish was wonderful! The best part was that I was able to eat with my friends at her birthday party with no issues. The food came out quickly and with everybody else’s mail so we all ate together as a group. This is one of the best restaurants in the dr. Phillips area.

Awesome high quality and delicious sushi. Before I became a foodie, this was hands down my favorite restaurant. Despite having checked out hundreds of restaurants in my quest to eat everything life has to offer, I find myself coming back here from time to time because of the delicious, fresh sushi and yummy desserts. Be sure to make a reservation in advance as this place can get packed especially during peak dining hours. The interior is dimly lit(a little too dim for my liking), but there’s a nice bar style seating area that overlooks the open kitchen. Other than that, there isn’t much else that’s notable. My standard go-to is the Tonbo special. It comes with an assortment of sashimi(large cuts of fresh raw fish), two cut rolls and two hand rolls. It’s enough to satisfy the appetites of two extremely hungry people. Their specialty rolls are also delicious — made with fresh fish and packed with tons of flavor. Be sure to order their fried ice cream(one of the best I’ve had) and if you’re a green tea fanatic ask to substitute the vanilla with this. it’s worth it. Prices are on the steeper side, but you’re paying for the quality. Do check it out.

Dragonfly = Asian Tapas. I came here on a double date and the four of us had a great time. I definitely would recommend coming with a group so that you can order more dishes and try more. I am personally not a fan of sushi, although the rest of my group digs it. They were very happy with the sushi at Dragonfly. What was great for me was that the restaurant had really tasty Asian-style meat dishes. Excellent sauces and cooked to perfection. They had a bunch of overpriced imported Asian beers that were not particularly impressive. I would certainly go back for a second visit.

Once you eat sushi here you will never want to go anywhere else! Hands down the best sushi in Orlando. Dragonfly is great for any occasion and offers delicious menu items off the Robata Grill as well if sushi isn’t your thing. The chefs are always keeping the menu exciting with special seasonal offerings which are always a great choice to try! Service is always phenomenal and food comes out quick. I highly suggest you go with a friend that way you can order different menu items to try! I can’t leave without ordering the ginger salad or Black & Bleu roll. P. s. The tempura fried cheesecake is so worth the calories! Dragonfly will now disappoint.

We got sashimi passion 21 pieces for $ 37. It consisted of tuna, salmon, mackeral, red snapper, yellowtail, and another fish we weren’t so sure of. The cuts were small and not filling. I wish they would’ve included some speciality fish. Adding a white fish to a sashimi platter is embarrassing. I don’t understand why our sashimi platter and sushi roll didn’t come with ginger or wasabi. We also got the volcano roll and whole grilled squid and it wasn’t exactly that great. We heard a lot of good things about this place but it was too overpriced for the size of the portion. I think it’s also very lazy of the restaurant to put a glass water bottle at the table. A server’s job is to check on the customers and occasionally refill the water but here I am refilling my own drink. Nothing too special here. It’s probably the location that makes it expensive. $ 70 for three items. :’)

Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. We were in Orlando on vacation and I found the restaurant on here, and the reviews did not lie. I was a bit hesitate to order a lot of food since it was our first time dining there but everything about the place was spectacular. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She even poured our soy sauce for us! The chef gave us a free, what I thought was a shrimp seviche. It had the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. We had the chef special and miso ramen. The ingredients on the sushi tasted very fresh and the rolled tight. We left the restaurant completely satisfied and that is quite difficult for sushi snobs like us. AZ

Walking into this place the decode was outstanding. Pro: The waiter we had was on top of his game, sharp attentive, knew the menu and answered questions. The food was good, portion sizes were good for the price given the high quality you are delivered. Pork ramen was outstanding, fried rice had a ton of flavor. Cons: –ton of ginger flavor on everything. –they have a Japanese style of serving food as it comes out, which would have been ok IF they put the right food in front of the right person. Not once out of the kitchen did what that person ordered end up given to the right person. –tempora a hot chili pepper or something that looked like a hot pepper I find pointless. How many people eat that? –because of the mismatch service they failed to deliver a side of rice that was ordered.(no big deal and was taken off the bill)

Feeling like I went a little over board with the ordering here tonight but it was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After deciding that sushi was gonna be our dinner I looked up the best sushi spots close to Magic Kingdom & this place popped up. Took us 30 mins to get to the restaurant & at first I was really worried if was gonna be really expensive because the plaza it’s in is SUPER fancy. We arrived just as they opened & were seated immediately. Happy hour is between 5−7pm everyday, a food and drink menu. The following are my favorite dishes(best to worst): — Pork Belly Ramen: delicious & spicy, filled to the brim with noodles, mushrooms, cabbage, egg &2 strips of crispy pork belly. –Steamed Braised rib buns: sweet & savory buns, perfectly seasoned. –Smokey Dragon Roll: smokey yet fresh salmon roll with a splash of Siracha. –Japanese Sliders: Sweet buns topped with tiny juicy burgers. –Japanese Doughnut: Crunchy doughnuts served with red bean ice cream. A MUST try restaurant if in the area… They’re opening up a location in Doral, Florida: D

There’s just always something wrong when my husband and I go there… First time around we had a terrible server who didn’t explain anything. We had very bland dishes and when we mentioned it we got a «oh well» attitude. Then the second time around when we asked about what items the server preferred best and it seemed like she just didn’t know the menu at all. Last and final time, we were given smaller portions of what we normally order. When we mentioned to the server she also had an «oh well» attitude. Unfortunately it carried on the entire evening and although the food was actually good this time we were left with a bad taste in our mouths. Won’t be coming back again.

Our experience tonight was really great! Our waiter was super attentive and engaging while not being obtrusive which is always a plus. He treated us like a couple, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but for a femme lesbian couple is really great. It’s nice to not be treated like two friends out to dinner when we are trying to celebrate Valentine’s day early! The pig ears are super tasty if you’re into that sort of thing. We also had the Black Dragon roll which I really liked and the roll Black and Bleu roll which wasn’t my thing. It just didn’t fit my flavor profile — the combination of Bleu cheese and other flavored sounded appealing on the menu but didn’t jive with my palette. My girlfriend enjoyed it, though. Our favorite thing was the Garlic Crab rice! So amazingly good! It sounded good so we asked the server if we should order it and he highly recommended it and we are so glad we tried it because it looked simple as it arrived to our table, but it was heavenly and tasted decadent. Order it! Overall, a nice experience with great service and awesome ambience.

Dragonfly is located in a mall-type space called Dellagio with several other bars, restaurants and shops, a few blocks off I-4 an exit away from the Orange County Convention Center. They have a bar and plenty of booths and table seating, a decent beer selection, and a solid menu. This place features Asian small plates and sushi. I’ve been here a few times for dinner for 3 or 4 people. The servers suggest ordering several items from the menu and placing them in the middle of the table for sharing. We ordered a few types of sushi along with the duck, bacon wrapped mushrooms, gator roll, squid and edimame(which had a bit of a smoky flavor). Everything I tried was very good, but I avoided the gator roll. I’d definitely return here again, the food has been good each time I’ve come here, parking is plentiful and free, and there are a few bars nearby, including a great sports bar if you want to have a night cap after you leave Dragonfly, or want to watch a game after dinner like we did.

As an alum of the University of Florida, I am familiar with the original Dragonfly in Gainesville. I’m a huge fan of their food but hadn’t been able to go back in years, so I was thrilled that my boyfriend found out they have a location in Orlando! We went for a romantic dinner, and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful inside, it’s dark and gives an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. This location features a menu of entrees cooked on a Robata grill, which are special stones that are heated to 1000 degrees to cook the food. My boyfriend and shared three dishes from the robota grill: Tontoro, pork cheek, with sesame oil dipping sauce. The pork is tasty to eat, but the sauce was very over powering. Gyutan, beef tongue, ponzu with ginger, scallion sauce. This was my favorite of the three dishes. The meat was tender and the sauce was very tasty. Kalbi Ribs with kimchee. It was a decent kalbi dish, nothing too special, but still very delicious. We also had to share some sushi, which I think Dragonfly is best known for. I can’t remember the name of my boyfriend’s roll, but it had Siracha sauce and ground pepper on it, which over powered the roll and made it way too peppery to taste good. I did love my Black dragon roll: tempura soft shell crab, snow crab delight, cream cheese, cucumber, scallions, avocado, smoked eel. Definitely did not disappoint. I loved my experience at Dragonly Orlando! It’s a great date spot to take someone special.

Impressive! Dedicated Gluten Free menu with plenty of options to choose from! Aside from the Gluten Free options, Dragonfly is an outstanding Japanese Restaurant. I don’t even want to call it a Sushi restaurant because Dragonfly is much more than that. Please try their Robata Grill; the Duck is amazing :) Dragonfly Chef developed their Gluten Free menu about 6 months(Today: 11/30/2015). You have 14GF rolls to choose from, plus many other options, including their Robata Grill, soups and more. Dragonfly offers Gluten Free Soy sauce & Eel sauce. My wife has«The Classic» & «Fresh Garden» — Mango Tango is not listed on the GF menu, but they will remove the tempura and make the roll Gluten Free!!!(Pictures listed) Weather you have Celiac or not, Dragonfly provides an excellent dinning experience. :)

I found this decently rated sushi restaurant thru Unilocal.Glad that I paid a visit even though it was not close to I-drive. It seemed that most Asian joints nearby the hotel were poorly rated so this was worth the drive. This was located in a nice shopping plaza called Dellagio. Arrived during happy hour so just sat at the bar. The bartender was very polite and enthusiastic. He really took the time explaining the dishes they serve. The restaurant was modern, plenty of tables w/a large open kitchen. Started w/their house cocktail called Sumo Smash. It’s actually a Martini made w/miller’s gin, ginger, lime & mint. Quite refreshing but potent. For grub, I ordered 4 items from the happy hour bar menu. The Steam Buns were soft filled w/nicely marinated juicy pork belly. Crunchy Roll had nice crunch and wasn’t drowning in eel sauce. My favorite were the 2 Robata grilled skewers… bacon wrapped asparagus & bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms. Well, bacon makes everything better :) but these skewers were nicely grilled… not burnt. Really enjoyed the experience here. The service was great, food was prepped well and bill was less than $ 40 bucks for 2 drinks &4 bar items(happy hour). I may have to come back to check out their full dining menu when I go back to Orlando :)

Happy hour here is definitely a win. This place is a little pricey compared to the other sushi spots on Sand Lake road(Amura, Seito, and Nagoya) so it kind of gets overlooked. Happy hour here though is one of the best in Dr. Phillips. Wines and cocktails run about $ 6 and so do most of the bites which are just has great as they are during dinner. You know how there are a few meals that you just never forget? Like that one time I went to Hagi in NYC or tried a food truck for the first time. Well, this was one of those moments. My boyfriend and I went to college in Gainesville, so we are used to the Gainesville, FL location. We found ourselves in Orlando, hungry, and desperate to avoid tourist traps. We entered the Orlando location of Dragonfly and were quickly greeted by friendly staff & welcoming décor. I made reservations just 30 minutes before, and they seated is immediately. Our server Santi was very sweet, and kept calling me «ma’am». I felt like a queen LOL. Our waters were never empty, and our plates were constantly refreshed. We started off with two cocktails, only one of which was memorable– the cucumber compulsion. It’s a must try! We ordered wontons, the tuna kobachi, a Godzilla roll, volcano roll, crispy shrimp, miso yaki black cod, and tempura cheesecake(excessive, so what?). Of the dishes we ordered, the only two we agreed that we wouldn’t order again were the miso yaki black cod & the wontons. The wontons lacked flavor inside although the purée was great, and the miso black cod fell flap in comparison to others we had. The food aside from the was phenomenal and comes highly recommended by me. I also need to mention that the wontons were not on the menu, and our server made a special request for us. I am sure they prepared them quickly and didn’t have everything fully prepped, but they have been life changing at the other location. Don’t knock them off the menu completely! It was very kind of them to accommodate our request. Overall, the server, manager, cleanliness, food, and affordability were all on point! Thanks for the consistently good experiences Dragonfly!

I’ve been to Dragonfly a number of times. It’s always guaranteed to be good food in a fun/lively atmosphere. It’s a chic and elegant dining space. I give it a solid 3 ½ stars. I invited some first timers. Dragonfly can be pricey, but we came in for the Bite30 event(30 Orlando area restaurants have a special prix fixed menu for $ 30 during the month of June). I felt it was a safe, cost effective way to introduce them to Dragonfly. Between the 5 of us, we tried all 3 appetizers on the Bite30 menu. I’ve always loved their warm spinach and mushroom salad, and I’m glad they have that as a choice. For entrées, most of us chose the 2 sushi rolls per person, we were able to try a number of rolls. I was most disappointed with the dessert options. Option one was seasonal ice cream or sorbet, but the waiter wouldn’t tell us what flavors. He said either chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla… whatever the chef feels like giving to you. Really? What if I hate strawberry ice cream? I ordered the other dessert offering, the Yuzu Tart, only because I felt comfortable knowing what I was ordering and that I wouldn’t be getting somehing based in the chef’s whim. The Yuzu Tart turned out to be a key lime pie cake bar of sorts. Two of us ordered that and neither ate more then 2 or 3 bites. Overall a great deal if you order the 2 rolls as your main course. Avoid the Yuzu Tart!

The area the Dragonfly looks more upscale, almost an up and coming part of Doctor Phillips. Once you walk in, the theming is modern asian. The host was a bit absent minded, taking her time, not showing too much skill in talking to the general public. Originally, I had come to meet a friend for happy hour, which the host sat me in the one area of the restaurant which did not serve it. However, our server, Jason was fantastic. He was able to work some magic and get my friend and I in for happy hour. Jason also had a great grasp of the menu. I always like to try new beers when I’m out. He had a few suggestions, which were just perfect. The sushi was ok. The Sashimi was light and delicate, which was the hight of the meal. While, the Crunch roll was very crunchy, but not so tasteful. I would come back to try it again.
