No rate here, well maybe I have to huh??, although I know the chef from way back, they are closed and maybe even reopened somewhere else… I never went in to eat and from what I’ve read, maybe a good thing. Always hurts to see a swagger reduced to a limp, good luck to you Dan!

This place gets a big fat«Meh» First of all, our waiter was weird and not very well informed. And we were told that we could only get the happy hour specials on something that would be easy for the bartender to make… What? CB ordered some sweet potato fries, which came out very burnt and didn’t even look appetizing. I ordered a turkey burger with feta and bleu cheese. After I ordered the waiter came back and said that the«chef» said that with those two cheeses, it would overpower the turkey burger and that I should get the bleu cheese on the side. Umm… ok? How about you just let me order my burger the way I want it. Needless to say, I ended up dumping the bleu cheese on my burger anyway. Papaya ketchup? Pointless. It tasted like regular ketchup. Don’t spend the extra money on that. There really wasn’t anything about this place that made me say«wow» or want to go back. And they didn’t change the décor at all after the switchover from Black Olive… and it doesn’t fit a burger place at all. Meh.

So Tuesday is the day if you wish to avoid paying $ 20 for a hamburger. They do two Angus sliders for 2 bucks. Combine that with the three dollar martinis and you are full and buzzed for less than twenty dollars. And hats off to Terri, the bartender for making a martini that could peel paint, in a good way. The couple next to me, at the bar, ordered additional juice for their fruitini concoction… I just hope this place catches on soon, I would think Tuesday would be their busy day… but the place was a ghost town… wakawaka

Ummm, so underwhelming. I agree with Matthew, the $ 3 Martinis at happy hour are solid. However, when I checked in on Unilocal and saw Matthew’s review, that is how I knew about their HH, our server never told us, we had to ask. #Fail #1 He then also said that it was ½ off wine and we asked if the Sangria was included in that HH special and he said«yeah, I think I can get ‘her’(as in the bartender) to do that.» When he came back with the bad news that she could not off that, his reason was«she is lazy.» Really? #Fail #2 — I know he was just joking and trying to shift the blame so he would still get a good tip but you told us, yeah before… they should have at least given us one glass on special for getting our hopes up. We went with cosmos and they were on special. They were extremely stiff so that was nice but if you were looking for a nice, refreshing drink this would not have been it. Ok, this is a burger bar so let’s get on with it! I did order sweet potato fries that came out 5 m in before the burger and they are a huge portion and on the menu they tell you they are sharing size portions. They get a point for the heads up on that however they get 5 points off for delivering overly fried, extremely skinny and left over oil in the deep fryer tasting. I was actually offended that they delivered that to the table. I attempted 2 and sent them back immediately. He asked what was wrong and I told him they were repulsive. He asked if I wanted another kind but I was so repulsed I said no. You think he would have wanted to recover and possibly remake them or give us another kind but nope… nothing came of it, not even a manager’s visit to the table. Oh and there are about 30 tables in there and it was us and one other table at 5:30, not like it was extremely busy. You can build your burger(at a hefty price with each addition) from meat to bun to cheese to sauces to toppings. I went with the basic Angus burger, medium-well, on a multi-grain roll with cheddar, caramelized onions and apple wood bacon. Sounds delicious right? Not the case. Sigh… I wanted to love this place because I adore burgers but this place is terrible. I hope it was an off day and they improve but I am not sure I want to try it out again. The burger was overcooked, tasted like it was flame broiled but that is it. No other taste, no seasoning, no juice, no flavor what so over. I guess I should be thankful it tasted like something, even if it was the grill? The bacon was ok, a little overcooked as well but it did have some bacon flavor so I guess that can be seen as a win? I was just so not impressed with this place. I liked the black olive WAY more than what I experienced here yesterday. uggg… Dear Blue Smoke Burger team — step it up!
