Great food! Tried the fajitas and they are probably the best you will find in Orland. Tender beef and chicken cooked perfectly and the fresh homemade tortillas added to the experience. The swirls frozen margarita is a bonus. Also tried the guacamole made table side and was able to get it spicy hot just how I like it. Uncle Julio’s is a great addition to the crap chain restaurants saturated in Orland.

The food is good, the drinks tasty… but the best part of our dining experience tonight was the server, Mira. She was knowledgable, helpful, funny, and had impeccable timing. She gave great advice on what to order when we asked, with a concern for our tastes. She was attentive without being pushy, friendly without being overbearing. Honestly probably the best server we’ve ever had anywhere. She made a very pleasant difference in our dining experience; we will definitely go back to Uncle Julio’s because of her.

Went here on a Saturday around 5:30pm. Food was great! The 4 of us sat in the bar at a high top table which is first come first serve seating since the dining room had a 30 minute wait. Chips and salsa were brought to the table shortly after we sat down. Waitress took our drink order and brought us our water first since the bar was backed up. Probably took 10 minutes to get drinks after we sat down. Waitress took our food order when she brought the drinks. Probably had our food 15 minutes later. Got the check shortly after we finished dinner and said we had no room for dessert. Left around 6:30pm and now the lobby was full. Had the Laredo and steak and chicken fajitas. Had to ask for additional fajitas but they were brought right away. No offer to get us additional chips or drinks or water so only a 4 out of 5. But we definitely will dine here again.

First time in Uncle Julio’s Orland. Started out with chips and salsa they bring you. It’s always better when the chips are warm. The salsa is a little to mild for my taste only because I consume too much! If it was hotter it may slow me down or get me to drink more! Went with the tableside guacamole for our appetizer. You can have them make it the way you like it. I went with the standard preperation. It was delicious. Fresh and the flavors melded perfectly. For dinner I had steak fajitas and pork ribs. Steak was ordered medium and arrive properly prepared. It was also delicious. The ribs were definitely the standout. The also were properly prepared and a light bar-b-que sauce accompanied the ribs. Just a great correlation between sauce and ribs. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors. All in all this place was on point if not better with the location on North Ave. I will return if in the area and have a taste for Mexican cusine.

I had the lobster tail with steak and chicken fajitas… And it was delicious! The lobster tail and meat was juicy and tender cooked and seasoned to perfection. We also ordered the table side guacamole and OMG it had to be the best guac I’ve ever tasted! I highly recommend it. It was also my birthday so I got the birthday dessert… Not sure exactly what it was but it had coconut and ice cream and a candle. It would be nice if the employees sang happy birthday instead of just bringing it to the table.

We dine at Uncle Julio’s frequently because we love the food. However, this evening was a little different. Our 18 month old son has Down Syndrome and we are used to having a different kind of experience. This evening, our server Mercedes was outstanding. When we arrived at the table she greeted my son with a big smile. Then, she noticed he was trying to find things for him to play with and brought him some tortilla dough. This just made his night! She was so sweet to him and a great server for us. We will be requesting her at our next visit.

Joshua was our server and did a great job: food was great as well as their drinks. By far best Mexican restaurant me and my girlfriend have tried.

The food was excellent but the table service was very poor. I’m sure what happen here but it took between 5 to 10 minutes before we got seated when someone took our order. Other than that, the food was good. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas! My wife ordered the Tex-Mex combo. My tortillas came to my table 5 minutes into my food… they were kind of not so warm! I love hot tortillas with my food. I’m not sure what happen with the table service but it was not up to par. Oh by the way, this was our first time at uncle Julio’s! I hope you have a better experience than we did! Enjoy the good food! #SeñorFood

Not worthy of the star just received. Food was not as shown or written, definitely not worth the price paid for, slow service, and never order the table side guacamole. This place was half way decent when it first opened, but has taken a spiral dive in service, food quality and quantity, and price. WILLNOTRETURN.(See«not recommended» review by me 10÷24÷15)

I guess I’ll start with the good. We only waited 5 minutes to be seated. That’s it for the good. . There was am old piece of fried meat in our complimentary chips. The waitress was nonchalant and lacked manners. My enchiladas consisted of hunks of beef and a unpleasant queso sauce. My tacos where okay I could’ve made better at home. They charged for sour cream without letting us know about the charge. If your looking for authentic Mexican food. Uncle Julio’s is not the place I would recommend… Oooo they got 2 stars cause the lemonade was Great!

This is a solid Mexican food chain. DO get a frozen sangria or margarita swirl. DON’T pay more for tableside guacamole, just get regular. It is the same & le$$. DO get queso with ground beef or the mama julios nachos. DON’T get tacos. Fajitas come with garlic butter for dipping & authentic flour tortillas. Bacon wrapped shrimp(«camarones») are also one of my favorites. Olé!

Where is the minus star button? How can a Mexican restaurant mess up chicken tacos??? Maybe the«chef» thought he was working at a nursing home where no spices are added in the food because old people tend to have sensitive stomachs! Perhaps he was afraid that the heated food would burn the elderly resident therefore he served the tacos cold! I would sooner go to Taco Bell then set foot in that place again and that’s pretty sad :( Adiós Uncle Julio I guess I am forced to give it one star in order to post this. If I could I would give it a big fat 0

My loving family took me out here to celebrate Father’s Day this past Sunday. Had to work that night so we went for lunch. I always enjoy the food here. Enjoyed the vegetable tamales. The skirt steak might be the best I’ve ever had. This time what really stood out was the service I received from Bri. She was awesomely amazing. Just wanted to shout her out on here.

Hubby and I came for a late dinner. The table side guac was a wonderful touch. An employee comes by an makes it fresh in front of you. We were given 2 while avocados, lime juice, fresh squeezed lemon juice, cilantro, white onion, tomato, and chopped jalapeño on the side. The atmosphere is so inviting. You feel at home even though, like us, it could be your first time here. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita. It was great! For dinner I had the nachos with skirt steak. It was about ten thicker nacho chips individually placed, each with refried beans, cheese and a single slice of skirt steak. In the middle of the plate was lettuce, sour cream, and guac(but not the same as the table side guac). It was delicious. The décor is beautiful. A double-sided fireplace, authentic looking tile and stunning light fixtures. Highly recommended.

Overall, having been here a few times now I have to say that this place just not as good as UJ in Chicago. The reservation system(call ahead seating or whatever it’s called) is a joke. The food is pricey as well. BUT, the food is good. This is one of my brother-in-law’s favorite places and now when he comes to visit we don’t have to travel far to eat at UJ. One of the best things is their skirt steak fajitas. Even asking for well done meat it was still nice and tender. Guacamole is really good here, especially the tableside, but really it’s not that hard to make. Service here has been hit or miss, but the hits have been very good. I think they just don’t know how to handle the crowds which is a shame. Definitely will be coming back, but just a note for everyone that this place is apt to have it’s off days.

I generally try to avoid chain restaurants, but this place can’t be avoided. –Pros– — Diverse staff(Always a plus) — Friendly right on time service — We ate at the bar, but I noticed the waitresses and waiters working the tables the way that only places that have good service does. — The vegetarian food was 100% meat free — VERY important! — The food was absolutely delicious I’m picky about drinks. The only problem I had with the drinks were that they taste as good as the ones I serve at my home. :) This is a nice place!

Absolutely not!!! The food is good… not great. The staff is rude. We waited an hour+ for a seat, surrounded by other people waiting. My friend had called ahead of time to ask if we can make a reservation and was told no. A local celebrity was in the restaurant AFTER us and was seated first. We were told he did a «call ahead» so we of course asked what the difference was?! When we were finally seated, there were about 8 empty tables in the back. I continued to look through the small window from my seat, where I could see at least 4 groups of people waiting for tables. They were eventually seated right by us 30 – 40 minutes later! When we asked about all of this, we were told there was a problem in the kitchen. As it was my friend’s birthday, we asked for a comp for our troubles, and got her meal for free. The food is only sub-par, but that was the least of our worries. Try the swirl, it’s delicious. There’s your star.

Yikes — these reviews almost made me rethink my visit here but I thought I should at least come once to see for myself how it was. I can’t believe this was the old Harrison’s — they did a beautiful job redoing it! The first thing I noticed was it was really noisy. We came on a Monday night so I assume the weekends are even noisier. The service was good — no problems there. Love their salsa and homemade warm tortilla chips. The food came almost too fast though but everything was good and everyone seemed to enjoy their food! The prices are a bit high but there are lower price options as well. It’s not like all entrees are $ 15+ and that’s all you can choose from. Orland needed a nicer Mexican place. All the other food genre are saturated so hopefully it will do well!
