My experience at Destination Maternity was magnificent! Upon entering the store, I was immediately greeted by Tiffany, who was the sales representative that helped me for the hour I spent in the store. Tiffany was extremely kind, honest, and catering to my needs. She allowed me to walk around and shop on my own without following or hounding me. I was hoping to buy clothing that was more work-friendly rather than for lounging(of which I have enough from my first pregnancy). While shopping and trying clothing on, if Tiffany was not available due to helping other customers, I was able to get help or honest opinions about certain outfits from the other staff members, who were also pretty wonderful. I ended up buying two pairs of pants and a puffy vest off of the sales rack, two tank tops, and a few blouses all for a reasonable price. Everything I bought is great for both a casual night out(which is rare) or for work. Overall, Destination Maternity has a terrific collection of stylish clothing, as well as a stupendous staff of employees who are willing to go the extra mile for their customers.

GOTOTHESTORE, SKIPTHEONLINEORDERING, THISISWHY. STARSGIVENONLYTOACTUALSTORENOTTHEWEBSITE. This was a less than stellar experience to deal with ordering on Destination Maternity’s website. A particular dress was ordered on Tuesday evening for«Express Shipping». This dress was needed for an event the following Saturday. It was not received on time even though every day a call was made to customer service to make certain the dress would be received on time since the only update we received when looking at the tracking on the Destination Maternity web site was«PENDING»… no other explanation. Up until Thursday evening an email was received saying the order was CANCELED because it was out of stock. Fine, we thought, we will deal with this. Because THIS particular dress was so important, a call was made to the Orland Park Illinois store where I asked for their assistance(Sidney the sales associate was very helpful), and made a call and she was able to find a medium size of the dress, one size too big, figuring we could take it in. Friday morning I took off work, drove to Oak Brook Illinois and bought the size medium dress(from Rocky, another very helpful sales associate), took it to a tailor and had an emergency alteration done to the dress. Catastrophe averted, the mommy to be got her dress and the dress was worn on Saturday at her baby shower. She looked stunning. Monday evening, almost a week after the expedited order was placed on line, and 2 days after the date the dress was needed, I get home from work. There is a Destination Maternity package in my door with a size small dress. Obviously we received the dress too late and have been charged on my credit card when I was told it was a CANCELEDORDER. If it weren’t for the diligent and accommodating sales clerks at the Destination Maternity stores at Orland Park Illinois and Oak Brook Illinois, I would write off this company. DM needs to get their act together with ordering on-line. I see from other reviews that I am not the only one who has had issues with the on-line ordering issues.

The staff really makes this place AMAZING! As soon as you walk in they are so helpful. But not in the annoying type of way. I was looking for maternity jeans in tall, since places like Kohl’s don’t carry talls. The sales woman just asked my size and I literally did not even have to look at jeans. SCORE! I got to look around and I found some cute shirts on sale and cute dresses. The ladies were so nice, asking about my pregnancy and all, because what first time momma doesn’t want to brag about the baby they’re growing. They asked if I wanted a bottle of water or juice. Um yes please. Once I was done looking around I was escorted to my dressing room where there were numerous pairs of jeans waiting for me. I felt like a royal pregnancy princess and I did not want to leave! I even did a little runway show for the staff and baby daddy, who was watching TV and surfing the net on their computer(awesom for him too)! So the only reason I rated this place a 4 was because it’s a tad expensive. Some of the jeans I tried on were $ 190! The cheapest jeans were $ 40. So for maternity wear, that’s not bad. I ended up just buying a dress, it was $ 40. Kind of expensive for a dress that I will only wear a couple months, but whatever. One check out you also get this little packet of coupons and some free stuff which was like a cherry on top! I wish some of their stuff was even cheaper but I swear I would just go back for the royal treatment from the staff!

If it were up to me, I would never have to go north of 159th Street on LaGrange Road as that is the point where traffic starts to grow exponentially. However, at a certain point, your clothes just don’t fit anymore and sacrifices need to be made. When this situation recently arose, I bit the bullet and made my way out to the maternity mega store that is Destination Maternity. Destination Maternity has a great selection at all price points. You can buy fancy, pricey items from the Pea in the Pod collection or more affordable ensembles from the Motherhood section. Throw in a sale or a coupon and you can’t lose. The staff is also very helpful. They will pick clothes out for you, start a dressing room, tell you that you look great, and they are always quick to offer a complimentary juice or water. You can even bring a shopping companion with you as there are comfy couches and a TV available at all times. I guess going a few blocks north of 159th is worth it sometimes.
